The latest gadget to pass through the FCC is the GoFlex Satellite hard drive from Seagate. Right now, if you want to add a network attached storage device to your network it is a time consuming process of connecting cables, finding a location for your drive near a router, and configuring your network. Seagate will make this process a whole lot easier with this device.

The device packs in 802.11 b/g/n WiFi capabilities, allowing you to add the Satellite to your network without stringing wires from your router to the drive. This also means you can put the Satellite anywhere you have network access. Nothing on pricing or release yet.

This device keeps your router cool, while making it look dorky. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a problem with my router overheating. This new device comes from Evercool and is called Dr. Cool. It is apparently the first patented router cooler ever. Not that anyone needs one.

It cools more than just routers too. If your router is fine, this device will also cool other gadgets like your netbook or your tablet. And make them look just as dorky. The clamps are adjustable and will grab onto your gadget like a huge white parasite. Who wants one?

Who says that all WiFi routers need to look out of place in your home? Not I and certainly not Netgear. The N750 keeps its antennae stashed inside and out of sight. Your wife will certainly appreciate that as it at least keeps a low profile.

Aside from looking pretty sleek, this dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n router is capable of speeds of up to 450Mbps over the 5GHz band and 300Mbps at 2.4Ghz, for an “aggregate combined data rate” of 750Mbps. The Belkin N600 DB wireless dual-band N+ router is a wireless router that will help you with advanced wireless performance for video streaming, online gaming, and all of your other media-intensive applications. The device uses Belkin’s MultiBeam technology which minimizes dead spots and provides advanced coverage throughout your entire home.

It will deliver speeds of up to 300Mbps and features four Ethernet LAN ports, one USB port. It also comes with a suite of Belkin apps. The Belkin N600 DB wireless dual-band N+ router will cost you $69.99.

The new Logitec (not the big name Logitech we all know and love) LAN-WH450N/GR features four Gigabit Ethernet ports, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networking for a theoretical 450Mbps, and a wind turbine on top for good measure.

That design gives you improved wireless with three antennas, but really I think they just wanted a router-copter because they thought it looked cool. These new routers will arrive in Japan in mid-April for about ¥19,000 (or $230).

Netgear has announced that it is now shipping the N300 Wireless ADSL2+ modem router. The device is basically a DSL modem with an integrated 802.11n wireless WiFi router. The feature that you will appreciate the most is that it has failover if DSL goes down.

The failover function is thanks to a 3G USB modem that you can plug into an attached USB port. When DSL is out the 3G modem kicks on automatically and once the router detects that your DSL is back the 3G modem stops.

A gadget can’t get by on looks alone, but sometimes they can go a long way. That’s the case with this Cisco/Linksys E4200 router. The Wireless-N router will deliver best-in-class speed and performance and is equipped with 6 antennas which deliver maximum range and reliability.

These also double your network bandwidth with simultaneous dual-band N (2.4 and 5 GHz) for high performance wireless entertainment. It has 4 Gigabit Ethernet posts for as much as 10 times faster wired speeds. You can expect it to hit the stores in the next few months for $180.

Planex has announced it’s latest router in the MKZ-RP150N pocket router. The device is pretty simple. It has just a single connection for Ethernet, and will support WiFi and basic DNS services. It measures 42mm x 15mm x 55.2mm and weighs just 27 grams, hence the name.

This USB-powered portable router retails for about $41, and may be a good alternative to Apple’s AirPort Express at that price.

CLEAR has launched a new modem to use with its WiMAX service for the home or small-office users. It features an integrated WiFi b/g/n radio for sharing the 4G connection with several users, a Beceem BCS5250 WiMAX chipset, internal 5dB average gain antenna, an Ethernet port and a WAN port for using the router with a cable/DSL modem.

The device is now available for $120 or $7 per month. You can get month-to-month or two-year agreements, with service plans starting at $35 a month and you can add CLEAR Voice for $15 a month.

This weekend Virgin Mobile confirmed a major revamp of its Broadband2Go data plans that could see a return to real unlimited data. Instead of the four plans offered today, it would simplify everything to just a $40 unlimited monthly plan and a $10, 100MB 10-day plan.

A leaked memo suggests that the changes will go live on August 24. Both MiFi routers and modems should work with the cap-free access. This sure would heat up the competition among carriers for mobile data. Clear and Virgin’s US parent Sprint offer unlimited Internet, but only for their WiMAX services.

Vizio may have concentrated on WiFi-equipped TVs at CES this year, but now it is expanding to other devices with the announcement of three WiFi-equipped Blu-ray players, and a dual-band ‘HD” router to go with them. The router is the XWR100, which prioritizes HD media streamed to Vizio’s VIA-enabled devices.

Devices like the three newly announced sleek Blu-ray players. The VBR210, VBR220 and VBR231. The VBR231 is the first dual-band wireless Blu-ray player, and all include Vizio Internet Apps (or VIA) to stream content from Vudu, Netflix and other services.

Mac users have some good news today. Clear has announced some 4G networking hardware with a focus on Macs. The Sierra Wireless-made 4G+ Mobile USB is its first dual 3G and 4G modem that supports Macs and gives them an EVDO data connection fallback when 4G coverage is poor or non-existent. It will work with Mac OS X Leopard or later and will cost $115 outright or $6 a month.

The Spot 4G is a 4G-only mobile router for those who like to stay in Clear’s coverage. It shares WiMAX with up to eight other devices over W-Fi. The Spot 4G+ is just a rebranding of Sprint’s Overdrive with a 3G option and up to five devices sharing the network.

Here’s something you don’t see everyday. Britain’s 3 has added a portable 3G router with its own display features. Huawei’s E585 has a monochrome OLED display that shows battery life and connection as well as the amount of data used. There’s also a new web-based setup page with the router and it can be configured for Linux PCs and Macs and Windows.

The E585 will continue charging even while it shares its 3G connection over Wi-Fi with up to five other devices. It also doubles as storage with a microSDHC slot, but we don’t know if this will act as network-attached storage. 3 UK will sell Huawei’s router in July for £50 (or $74) on a pay-as-you-go basis.

When it comes to gadgets and electronics there are few things that we don’t want more of. We always want more performance, more bandwidth, and more battery life. Trendnet has announced that its latest router offering more wireless bandwidth than other devices on the market is now ready to ship.

The router is the TEW-691GR and it is designed to provide 450Mbps of theoretical wireless bandwidth. To get that level of performance Trendnet uses three antennas that each broadcast three spatial streams per antenna on 2.4GHz spectrum.
