appBlaster iPhone accessory

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Reuben Drake on June 23rd, 2011

We have plenty of gun accessories for the Wii or Move wands, I guess it’s only fitting that we also have a rifle-like dock for the iPhone. The appBlaster from apptoyz is designed specifically for the company’s Alien Attack iOS game.

Just slide in your iDevice and you will be able to see the invisible aliens and mow them down. When you pull the trigger, two capacitive pads touch the screen to fire. The appBlaster is available for pre-order right now for about $32) and will arrive on July 7.

PS Move SMG rifle accessory

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on October 7th, 2010

When Sony announced its PlayStation Move it also announced some accessories at the same time. Like a charging stand and even a light gun attachment. You have to catch up with those third parties who make cheap plastic Wii accessories after all.

And now CTA Digital has a submachine gun peripheral called simply “Submachine Gun.” Just clip your Move baton up front, slide the nunchuck part in the grip, and shoot away. Both the stock and scope are removable.

There are video cards that are ok and aimed at the mainstream user looking for a budget offering. There are also video cards that are massively powerful and unabashedly expensive like the new XFX Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition Limited that is on Newegg now.

The video card is the most powerful Radeon card you will find and has dual GPUs that are cooled by a dual-slot heat sink and fan. The card has 4GB of RAM with each GPU getting 2GB. It also has six mini-DisplayPorts.

Homemade Fallout 3 plasma rifle

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on August 24th, 2010

The A3-21 Plasma Rifle kicks ass in Fallout 3 and it looks pretty awesome in the real world too. Ryan Palser created this bad boy, which took five months to complete. His wife painted it up real nice to give it the weathered look. If they ever make a Fallout movie, they better turn to Ryan and wife for props.

We’d love to see more of Fallout’s weapons in real life, maybe even some Brotherhood of Steel armor. To paraphrase the song from the game, Ryan doesn’t want to set the world on fire, he just wants to start a flame in our hearts with this beast.

Steampunk blunderbuss actually fires

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on February 7th, 2010

We’ve covered many steampunk mods around these parts. Some are actually Steampunk while others are just a lot of brass attachments glued onto a gadget. Well this one is Steampunk alright. And these guns actually fire.

The blunderbuss shown above shoots not bullets, but rubber balls. That doesn’t mean it won’t hurt like a real bullet though. It shoots those rubber balls fast enough to actually penetrate cardboard from a distance. Ouch! And while we don’t want to be on the wrong end of this thing, we can’t help admiring the craftsmanship. Check out some videos below.

Wii And PS3 Sniper Gun Controllers

Posted in Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on January 11th, 2010

If the standard guns are not hardcore enough for your Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3 gaming experience, try one of these sniper guns from CTA Digital. Recently shown off at CES, these weapons will give you a more realistic feel while in your game.

The PS3 model looks like an AK-47, while the Wii model just looks like what it is, crap plastic. The Wii version uses a Wiimote and Wii Motion Plus attachment, while the PS3 version uses its own built-in joystick, D-pad, and works on it’s own.

Zombies beware: TAC-15 Tactical Crossbow means business

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on April 27th, 2009

Zombies beware: TAC-15 Tactical Crossbow means businessPSE will be releasing their TAC-15 crossbow next month. So hunting is about to get super serious. Zombies planning a night of terror need not even bother, since this baby will save the day. It mounts directly on a AR-15 rifle so you can swap between both weapons easily.

We aren’t sure why you would need a crossbow when you are already holding an AR-15, but hell, you can never have enough killing power. Maybe it’s for when you run out of ammo and desperately need to get that headshot.

Gun camera for book depository type photography

Posted in Cameras by Conner Flynn on January 28th, 2009

Gun cameraLets be clear. No way in hell is this gun-camera making it through airport security. That should be obvious. It’s the kind of gun camera that you hide away in a duffel bag until you reach the top floor of a vacant building. Then, when in position, you assemble it on the spot. You may or may not be able to get all your shots. That’s what the second cameraman on the Grassy knoll is for.

Actually this was used by reporters during the Vietnam War. The camera is mounted on a rifle butt with a black case and 5x lenses. It’s a gadget that belongs in a museum as it is part of camera and American history.

Sure Shot Wii Rifle is three weapons in one

Sure Shot Wii Rifle is three weapons in oneWe’ve covered our share of Wii guns here at the brick. Machine guns, Pistols, even the Wiimote assassination kit, but I believe this is the first rifle that is actually three weapons in one.

The Sure Shot Wii Rifle was unveiled at CES 2009. It’s from CTA Digital and features a removable stock and barrel, three modes, and is compatible with nearly all shooting games on the Wii. That last bit is a big plus. You can hit the link below to check out a video.

X Sting Wish: Fire extinguisher/Sci-Fi rifle

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on October 1st, 2008

X Sting Wish: Fire extinguisher/Sci-Fi rifleThe X Sting Wish not only has a clever name, but an even more clever design. You can easily see it fragging cyborgs and aliens. It’s from UK designer Adam Scott and according to him it’s for extinguishing fires, not fragging aliens. I don’t care what he says, I want to see it make something ugly or robotic into something dead. Not that Scott cares about my fantasies.

The idea is that the X Sting Wish is much easier to understand and operate than your average extinguisher, while still being recognizable. It sports a huge trigger and many firing options, like powder, CO², and water. Plus it’s ultra durable. This is one concept I really want to see become reality.

Hobbytron M4 ElectricAirsoft Rifle is perfect for woodpeckers

Posted in Accessories by Shane McGlaun on July 4th, 2008

M4 Electric Airsoft RifleSince the summer began my house has been besieged by woodpeckers. The birds pecked on my house until they have actually made holes in the eaves. I really want to get rid of the little red head birds, but I don’t want to just go postal on them.

Despite the fact that I don’t want to just kill them, I wouldn’t mind knocking them a bit senseless and the M4 3181 AEG Airsoft Rifle with M203 Spring Grenade launched might do just the trick. Yeah, it has got one seriously long name but is there any denying how cool it looks?

Old meets new: Rolleiflex digital camera

Old meets new: Rolleiflex Digital Camera
Some of us love antiques and at the same time appreciate modern gadgets. With this one, you get the best of both worlds. It’s designed to look like the Rolleriflex 2.8F, but it’s really modern technology. With this kind of camera, you hold it at about your chest and look down into the lens and take the picture. It’s all automatic, except the crank which is used to ready the camera for the next shot.

It’s only 3″ tall and the viewfinder is a 1.1 inch TFT. It will take miniSD cards as well. Sadly, it’s only 3mp, so it’s not the best quality camera (They probably should have given it at least 8mp). Regardless of the quality, it will surely get some conversation started. It will cost you $400. It certainly has looks.

WiiMax Light Gun with laser sight

Posted in Controllers by Darrin Olson on March 2nd, 2008

WiiMax Light Gun with Laser sight for the Nintendo WiiWii gun controllers seem to have come out of the woodwork as of late with a number of them incorporating both the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck into the gun.

Another one to add to the list is this WiiMax Wii Light Gun. It has a place to mount and utilize both the remote and Nunchuck but adds a laser pointer mounted on the top which is powered by it’s own set of AAA batteries and can be removed if you want to try some free-hand aiming. The gun also features a handle on the bottom that folds down to use it like a machine gun or folds up to make more like a short rifle.
