Turkey in 2 hours with NuWave Oven ProOne thing that sucks about Thanksgiving dinner is that the Turkey takes so long to cook. We’re talking hours here and people are hungry. This Thanksgiving gadget that will help. The NuWave Oven Pro. The manufacturer claims it can roast up a 10-pound turkey in just two hours. That takes much of the wait out of Thanksgiving dinner.

How does it do it? NuWave uses three kinds of heat: Conduction, convection and infrared. That’s the secret to a perfect golden brown bird. They also offer an “extender” that can hold a 16-pound turkey. You know, if you want to feed a small army. This gadget with it’s three heat settings is just crazy enough to work.

Moto Kraver Strikes the ‘Brick… And everywhere else

Moto Kraver Strikes the ‘Brick… And everywhere elseLast night I noticed that Joel at BoingBoing Gadgets discovered an overly in love “fan” of the Motorola Krave who had been trolling their comments for the last few weeks. The dude’s comments seemed oddly familiar. So I checked our own comments here at the ‘Brick. Guess what? He struck here too. A few times.

This brazen bandit doesn’t even wear a mask, freely admitting that he works for Motorola while simultaneously and textually stroking the Krave. Sometimes he mixes it up, but mostly it’s the same old tune, which …

Last Call iPhone app tells you how drunk you are

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on November 17th, 2008

Last Call iPhone app tells you how drunk you areThe Last Call iPhone app tells you how drunk you are, because you are probably way too far gone to judge for yourself. It determines this using your weight and how many drinks you’ve had already. It also calculates your drunkenness by what type of alcoholic beverages you’ve consumed, and it will even offer advice on what to do next now that you’re three sheets to the wind.

If you’re too blitzed to drive, you can press a button and it will call a taxi for you. Best of all, it’s free, which means more booze money. Now all you need is an app that shows how much of your liver is still healthy and calculates how much more drinking you can do until your final days.

Target gift cards are also digital cameras

Posted in Cameras by Conner Flynn on November 10th, 2008

Target gift cards are also digital camerasWe aren’t sure what to think about this one. Target is getting creative with their gift cards again. You can consider it either a gift card with a digital camera, or a digital camera with a gift card. Either way, it’s all good. This holiday season, Target will begin selling the combo gift card/digital camera, which is an interesting approach. It will give customers some added value to what is otherwise a pretty boring purchase.

The camera features a 1.2MP sensor with 50MB of storage. It comes bundled with a USB cord, driver disk, instruction manual and a voucher for 40 free prints at Target. It’s powered by two AAA batteries. So rest assured, Target’s battery sales will be way up this year. The digital camera gift certificates will be available at no additional charge, unless you order it online. They are available in values from $50 to $1000.

Skull Beer Funnel for Halloween drinking fun

Posted in Holiday by Conner Flynn on October 30th, 2008

Skull Beer Funnel for Halloween drinking funIn keeping with the spirit of the season, here’s something to help you get drunk that also doubles as a creepy prop. It’s a Skull Beer Funnel with spinal column attached. If you’re the Predator, just pass on this one and go rip your own from some human. Humans, it’s illegal to do what the Predator does, so don’t do it. Buy this instead.

It’s Halloween, which means that it’s perfectly acceptable to guzzle some brew from human remains for God’s sake. When you get too drunk on the way home, it doubles as a handy vomit-catcher. It’s all cool. It’s how Grim Reapers party.

The grass is greener on the Lawn PC

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on October 26th, 2008

The grass is greener on the Lawn PCDesigner David Veldkamp created this futuristic concept PC he calls the LawnPC. The device would create all the power it needs from solar cells embedded in the grass that sits on top of the PC. The grass isn’t real grass, it’s actually made from natural cotton fabric that carries inkjet printed solar cells. The use of cotton makes the blades biodegradable, just like real grass. The idea is that hundreds of these blades can generate all the power the system needs at about 60 Watts per hour. The blades transfer energy to the battery plug-in at the bottom of each blade. The Lawn PC is also completely wireless.

All the electricity is generated by the machine. Which doesn’t even require a cooling fan. The natural air flow in between the lawn is enough to cool the system. All you have to worry about is placing the system near a window or a vent, where it can get all the light and air it needs. The lawn is removable, so it will also power your other electronic devices. Those devices will look like they do now, just with a blade of grass sticking out of them like an organic antenna.

Electric GPR-S Motorbike is now affordableYou want a sweet ride, while keeping the environment clean. The economy will bounce back eventually right? Have a look at the Electric GPR-S motorbike that helps you reduce your carbon footprint by relying on electricity to drive you around town. The GPR-S comes with a powder-coated steel frame and braced aluminum swing arm, capable of hitting 70 mph with a 35 to 60 mile range. A full charge will take around 4 hours via the on-board charger. An optional speed charger with integrated BMS will be just 1.5 hours. At $8,000, it might seem expensive but compared to other e-bikes in the same class, those retail for around $10,000 to $12,000. What are you waiting for? Oh yeah, the economy.

Steampunk Goggles are a work of genius

Posted in Apparel by Conner Flynn on October 22nd, 2008

Steampunk Goggles are a work of geniusThere are Steampunk googles, and then there are Steampunk goggles that are quality made and look pretty damn spiffy too. The metal components that you see in this pair are solid milled titanium, coated in gold colored titanium nitride. That’s pretty cool by itself, but these goggles also feature irises that can be opened and closed through independent sliders.

If that isn’t enough to get your Steampunk blood boiling with steam power, the photochromatic lenses automatically tint in sunlight. The leather is actually bolted to the eyepieces, using 48 tiny bolts plus another four for the nosepiece. The creator obviously believes in quality.

Rage Wireless Guitars leak acid, transforms Rock into Acid Rock

Posted in Musical Instruments by Conner Flynn on October 22nd, 2008

Rage Wireless Guitars leak acid, transforms Rock into Acid RockFile this one under “Things that do not rock!” The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled all the 57,000 $55 Rage Wireless Guitars that have thus far been sold. The reason? They were made in China of course.

Apparently a circuit board defect can cause the AA batteries included to leak acid if they are installed incorrectly. (People actually install batteries incorrectly?) What it means is that the acid may burn consumers flesh and transform ordinary plain rock into Acid Rock. And that is just unacceptable. I’ll tell you what else is unacceptable. Chemical burns to the groin. Everyone stop rocking immediately. Guitars are dropping, I mean leaking acid!

Jean-Michel Jarre’s retro iPod Speakers

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on October 22nd, 2008

Jean-Michel Jarre’s retro iPod SpeakersThere are a million eye-catching iPod accessories, but this one manages to stand out nicely. This odd looking iPod dock/speaker combo is from designer Jean-Michel Jarre and resembles something you would charge your lightsaber in that also doubles as a heater. It’s called the AeroSystem, retro in name and design.

It’s currently available only in France, and costs about $580, complete with an iPod-inspired remote. Seems to me that it’s more of a suicide station for when your iPod hears about the state of the economy or that Apple has released a new model. Stationed high atop it’s high-rise, it is free to make the decision to jump or not jump.

Pinel Pinel Movie Trunk portable home theater

Posted in Home Theater by Conner Flynn on October 9th, 2008

Pinel Pinel Movie Trunk portable home theaterThis may not be the most portable home theater ever, but it conveniently keeps all of your devices in one spot so they can be stored away out of sight. The Pinel Pinel Movie Trunk boasts a Bang & Olufsen Beolab 6000 subwoofer, Two Beolab 3 speakers, BeoVision 6-26 TV and a DVD1 DVD/CD player.

You can choose from 51 flavors of different leathers, all with nickel plated brass hardware, and you even have three drawers for you to store your DVDs. Up to four dozen DVDs. No word on price yet, but I think most of us love the idea, but would want a larger TV at the expense of portability.

External hard drive in an NES cartridge case

Posted in External Hard Drives by Conner Flynn on October 6th, 2008

External hard drive in an NES cartridge caseEtsy seller NES Box didn’t like the fugly exterior of their external hard drive, and so did something about it. That something was to drop it in an old NES cartridge case. The cartridge was just the right size, allowing the drive to fit in perfectly.

It’s powered by USB, so you won’t need any external juice. Created by them, it’s a one of a kind item.(Until someone else makes one) So it will cost you $180 if you want one. The only problem with putting things in old NES cases is that it might get lost among your other cartridges if you aren’t careful. Or your friend might borrow it instead of an actual game.
