Victorinox introduces a slim range of flash drives

If these flash drives look like knives, that is no mistake. Knife maker Victorinox has unveiled it new range of Slim Flash Drives in penknife cases. And no, these won’t get you in trouble at the airport. The Victorinox Slim and Slim Duo include all the standard pocket knife functions including blade, nail file and scissors, so you will always be ready for any task.

The Victorinox Slim flash drive can store up to 64Gb of data and can be secured using a personal password, with 128GB for the Victorinox Slim Duo. The Victorinox Secure SSD is actually the world’s smallest 256GB solid-state drive and includes security software that provides automatic back-up functions with Zero-Footprint capability to ensure anonymity while web surfing. The bookmarks and favorites manager will synchronize your documents and folders between more than one computer as well.

Best Buy’s Buy Back Program gets official

Wouldn’t you like to “future proof” your gadgets? Sure, we all would. And now we can, thanks to Best Buy’s Buy Back program. It will allow users to trade in their laptops, netbooks, tablets or smartphones for a percentage of the device’s original value. The company calls it “future proofing”. We call it, getting something for your old gadget, instead of just tossing it and getting nothing.

The Buy Back Program will start later this month and will cost $69.99 for laptops, netbooks and tablets. It’s $59.99 for mobile phones. When your device is covered, Best Buy will purchase the product back anytime within two years and you may receive up to 50 percent of the product’s original purchase price, paid back to you in the form of a Best Buy gift card, valid for six months.

Panasonic Blu-ray Players now with Skype

CES is in full swing and another of the cool things unveiled is that Panasonic and Skype have announced a partnership that will allow Skype voice and video calling on any 2011 Panasonic VIERA CAST-enabled Blu-ray Disc Player. So you can either pop in a Blu-Ray disc or spend some time with your loved ones face to face.

Skype-to-Skype voice and video calls are free. Calls to landline or mobile rates use Skype’s low rates with other options like: receiving inbound calls, voicemail, and conference calls with up to 24 other parties. All you need is a VIERA CAST-enabled Blu-ray Disc Player, HDTV and a Skype compatible web camera and an Internet connection.

BlueAnt S3 Speakerphone launches at CES

BlueAnt, makers of all kinds of Bluetooth gear has launched a new device at CES 2011 called the S3. It connects to the visor in your car and offers hands free calling as well as a lot of other features. The device features a convenient auto reconnect that connects your phone back to the S3 each time you get in or out of the car. It also supports text-to-speech for text messages when used with a separate downloadable app.

The S3 will cost you $79.99 and ships in the first quarter of 2011. It can also be paired with two devices at one time and supports five languages. In addition to the other features, the speaker is full-duplex and it has wind and echo cancellation.

Kodak announces Easyshare Touch, Mini and Sport Cameras, Playfull and Playsport Camcorders

Kodak just announced a bunch of new cameras and camcorders at CES. There’s the Easyshare Touch, Mini and Sport Cameras, along with their Playfull and Playsport Camcorders.

The Kodak Playfull camcorder features an ultraslim design with a 1080p capture mode and a share feature. Just press the “share” button and you can upload your video directly to YouTube or your favorite social network. All for $150.

Their next generation Playsport video camera is waterproof in up to ten feet …

Netflix button coming to remotes soon

This is a great move by Netflix. The company has announced that it has partnered up with several manufactures to add a Netflix button to TV, Blu-ray and media streaming device controllers. Starting this Spring, buttons that say “Netflix” including some featuring the red Netflix logo will be added to device remote controls.

The list of manufacturers that Netflix has made a deal with is impressive. The list for Blu-ray player remotes includes, Memorex, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba, Haier and Best Buy’s Dynex brand. Sharp, Sony, and Toshiba will place the Netflix one-click button on remote controls for some new Internet-connected TVs as well and Boxee, Iomega and Roku STBs will get Netflix buttons on their remotes.

How to get around the iPhone New Year alarm glitch

Apple’s iPhone alarm clock experienced a strange glitch with the new year and failed to wake users on New Year’s Day and January 2. This is caused by a bug that Apple still hasn’t fully explained, but the company did make a statement yesterday saying that the failure of its clock app only happens when you set a one-time alarm, and that it will somehow fix itself on January 3. However despite that, the problem still apparently exists.

So if you want to make sure that you wake up on time and don’t piss off your boss, here’s how to work around the problem until we get a proper fix.

LG launching Mobile 3D TV at CES 2011

Yesterday we heard about the new 72 inch LED 3D TV from LG, and now we learn that LG also has some smaller 3D TVs planned. Much smaller. The company will be launching a mobile 3D TV.

The company will reveal this new 3D mobile TV at CES 2011. The device will be powered by an LG2161R MDTV chip with NRT (non Real Time) technology and be able to receive 3D TV signals when you are traveling at speeds of up to 200 km/h. So feel free to watch a lot of content in your fast car. Preferably while someone else is driving.

Wall Hook Camcorder

If you are the paranoid type that needs to know what’s going on in every corner of the house, then check this out. The Wall Hook Camcorder is perfect for either catching your cheating spouse, or just for watching people put their coat on.

Hopefully no one covers the camera with a hat though. The device is charged via USB and records audio and takes VGA resolution color photos, it can also record video in the AVI format at 28 frames per second. All of the information is stored on a microSD memory card and the manufacturer has thrown in a universal charging adapter for you as well.

Look what we have here. Sonic the Hedgehog is willing to charge up your Wiimotes while showing the peace sign. He doesn’t look very happy about it though. You can understand why. He’d rather be chasing down golden rings and promoting Sega products. But sadly, those days are gone.

Now he is reduced to sub-par games and promoting Nintendo gear, which in this case will cost you $49.99. It comes from Mad Catz. Hey, at least it acts as a figurine too.

LG Optimus 2X to cost $730?

Last week LG announced the new Optimus 2X dual core Android smartphone, but at the time didn’t reveal any pricing. And now the folks over at Unwired View are reporting that the Optimus 2X may cost as much as $730. That’s without a contract.

The LG Optimus 2X is listed as available to pre order for $450 on a contract or $730 without a contract by an online retailer, although these prices are not yet confirmed by LG. The LG Optimus 2X will come with Android 2.2 Froyo, and is capable of recording and playing back Full HD video in 1080p.

Griffin iTrip Universal FM Transmitter

Griffin has launched a new iTrip FM transmitter for iPods, iPhones and MP3 players, called the Griffin iTrip Universal. It comes with an integrated 3.5mm audio cable, a built in display, and two user programmable presets. The device is powered by two AA batteries and comes with an optional window mount for your dashboard or car windshield.

iTrip sends the music from your player to the closest FM receiver, in your car or at home, through your stereo speakers. Expect it to be available in the first Quarter of 2011, with the iTrip costing $25 and the optional window mount costing $20.
