This isn’t a gadget of course, but it does involve one of our favorite retro arcade games, Space Invaders. We love Space Invaders here at the ‘Brick and we’re a little jealous of our friends in Japan, where these Kit Kat bars are being produced in limited editions by Nestle for Taito arcades to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Space Invaders.

Putting Space Invaders on a Kit Kat should make it a bit easier to fend off the invading armada as you savor every delicious bite of their little bodies. I’d love to see more retro arcade candy bars hit the market, like a Pac-Man Reese’s cup and the like, but I wouldn’t be able to resist and I’d become a large geek instead of a trim geek.

The iPhone 3G does a whole lot more than its predecessor, and that means that the battery is going to drain much faster. All of those cool new apps will also suck up the juice. The iPhone 3G Solar Charging Case will offer some protection for your iPhone 3G and also has a built-in solar panel that will collect the sun’s rays and turn them into electricity.

Power is stored in a 1,500mAh battery that will give your phone a full charge. Recharge time is about 3 hours. It may not be the most beautiful of iPhone cases, but it’s a good option for those who are thinking green with their gadgets. The price is $54, while the sun’s rays are free.

Microsoft has now confirmed a couple of rumors we had heard last week about a new 60GB Xbox 360 and a price cut for the 20GB model. Today the company made an official announcement of the release of a new Xbox 360 with a 60GB hard drive coming in early August to take advantage of the increasing number and size of games, video and music for the game console.

In the same announcement Microsoft announced that the 20GB Xbox 360 model is on its way out with a price drop to $299 while supplies last, which is $50 less than before. The Arcade version and the Elite will remain at $279 and $449 respectively.

The world of multi-directional antennas, or “rabbit ears” as some like to call them, doesn’t get much attention these days in tech news. RCA is trying to refresh the category by unveiling some flat antennas designed to pair with flat panels as the coming analog to digital television transition creeps up.

The highlighted antenna is the RCA ANT1500 Flat Indoor Antenna, priced at around $60. RCA says consumers should pair this antenna, and others like it, as it is “designed to pick up more channels than a traditional “rabbit ears” antenna. Local broadcasters are now sending multiple digital TV channels to supplement their main programs.”

Hori just dropped the Real Arcade Pro EX arcade joystick for the Xbox 360 and it looks like it is a serious way to kick ass in fighting games as well as other old school games.

It gives you eight large action buttons and a ball-grip joystick that takes you back to the arcade. I was hypnotized when I saw this and went and got several rolls of quarters, which are now useless since I’ve come to my senses. Great for Xbox Live Arcade, despite the high price of $112.

While those of us in the U.S. are still waiting patiently, Australia and New Zealand have discounted Xbox 360 pricing across the board. An update to the Aussie Xbox site shows a new starting price of $349 Australian dollars for the Xbox 360 Arcade (which sold for $399 yesterday). Interestingly, that makes it $50 cheaper than the Wii in Australia. They better secure their Kangaroos, stop wrestling with alligators and get to the store quick.

Xbox exec, Jeremy Hilton confirmed that the Xbox 360 Pro bundle has also been slashed. It’s now $499 (was $579) and the Elite is now $649 (was $729). You might think this bodes well for some price cuts here in the U.S. as well, but check out this qoute regarding their strange pricing strategy: “One of the big changes Microsoft has made is that with price drops, you’d see the US would drop, and pretty much within two weeks we would drop as well. Now, it’s very much the individual countries who manage what they feel would be best for their respective regions. In March we had a price drop in Europe, and in April we had a price drop in Asia. So we’re definitely moving away from that big global strategy.”

If you’re a fan of the classic arcade game arkanoid, then like me you’ve been waiting for it to hit the Wii. Until it does, you can at least play it on your Nintendo DS. And if you remember playing the classic NES version with the special paddle controller, then you know there’s no other way to play it.

Taito has made a limited number of these plug-in accessories for the DS, so you can up your high score. They’re available in white, black, pink and silver. Unfortunately they aren’t officially available in the US so you’ll have to find an importer. At only $26.90 each it’s well worth it..

A forum user on High-Def Digest posted a scan from next week’s K-Mart weekly circular ad and it shows a price drop of $50 on the Xbox 360 Premium. Yes, the $299 price you see still includes a 20GB hard drive.

The timing of this apparent price drop seems to sync up with whatever announcements Microsoft will have at E3. The rumors on that front include a price drop or a newer version with more storage. The scan makes no mention of price adjustments for the ‘Arcade’ or ‘Elite’ models, but we expect they will be adjusted.

Some of us have an obsession with Classic Nintendo games, more specifically the NES and SNES systems. But a lot of nerds gamers don’t like to use their actual precious cartridges since they reside in a shrine somewhere in their mother’s closet. If that’s the case, this will do the trick.

I guess it isn’t easy being a Japanese geek. Not that it’s easy being an American geek, but the Japanese have so much more cool stuff to tempt them out of their savings. That’s why Takara Tomy has made a new kind of piggy bank. One with an RPG game built into it. It’s called Bank Quest.

Not very original, but appropriate. You can buy weapons and armor for your character from the savings you place inside the bank. Where have I seen this before. Oh right, it was called an arcade, where you put your money in played. Except you get to keep the money with this bank. Improve the graphics and gameplay, you might just have a bunch of gamers saving their money for once.

If you happen to live in an area that doesn’t have a radio station that caters to your musical taste, your only real options are MP3s, CDs or Internet radio. CDs are too old school for the geeky among us, MP3s are cool but can get expensive if you’re not into messing with RIAA so Internet radio looks like a good option.

The catch is that your boring clock radio probably only wakes you up to an annoying beep or FM radio. While a country song might get you out of bed quickly, wouldn’t it be nicer to wake to your favorite music genre? Aluratek has a new clock radio that can wake you to FM, MP3, a beep or Internet radio stations.

Once you get hooked on your own custom playlists and listening to what you want when you want on your iPod or iPhone, going back to normal FM radio in your car is hard to do. You could carry tons of CDs and listen to what you want in the car too, but that is so 1994.

At CES this January Monster announced what it claimed to be the world’s most advanced iPod/iPhone wireless FM transmitter called the iCarPlay 250. Monster announced this week that it is finally shipping the iCarPlay 250 at $99.95. The device allows you to play your digital tracks from your iPod or iPhone over unused FM stations on your radio in the car or the home.

Arcade gamers have a ton of choices these days. Dream Arcades has just come out with another, called the Dreamcade Vision 29 Arcade. The limited edition gaming arcade machine has a bumped up screen size of 29 inches. That makes the Vision 29 the Donkey Kong of gaming arcade machines and it has a whopping 200 games.

If that’s still not enough, you can add more games. It also has plenty of analog game control options on its keyboard, which can be fully customized with your own color options. Other features include an MP3 jukebox so you can have some tunes while playing. It can be yours for $2499.

Grace Digital has come out recently with a number of new products to help convert vinyl to digital music, such as the Victoria Classic shown above. These new models – the Victoria Tunewriter, Victoria Classic and AVPUSB01S – price at around $300, $170 and $90, respectively.

All of these devices are designed to let you digitize your old records (LPs) and cassettes. Modes of digitizing include letting you record directly to CDs or digital music files which can be stored directly on an attached USB thumb drive. You can get the full details after the jump.

Antec has launched a new PC enclosure which looks to blend style with a solid cooling system and lots of internal space. It is known as the the Twelve Hundred and you’ll find it pricing at around $210.

The Antec Twelve Hundred, according to Antec, is composed of a top 200mm TriCool fan, two rear 120mm TriCool fans and three front 120mm fans. All come with three-speed control. You also get for additional cooling optional graphics card 120mm fan mounts, a water cooling platform, perforated front panel and cable management for better airflow.
