R2-D2 video projector: pre-order yours now

Posted in Star Wars by Conner Flynn on February 24th, 2008

R2-D2 video projector
Star Wars fans can finally pre-order this highly anticipated R2-D2 Video Projector. The 1/2 scale repro will be a limited edition, with only 4000 units of the DVD reader projector being made. The droid is also iPod compatible, users can play the files on their players or connect the projector to a game console using an integrated dock. It even comes with a Millennium Falcon remote control which seems kind of weird.

The R2 Video Projector will retail for 2799 euros. If you have that kind of dough, you better beat a path through the sand and beat the Jawa Sandcrawlers that are sure to be hunting these out.

The Atari 2600 cake looks retro delicious

Atari 2600 cake
There must be something in the icing air lately. I thought that the R2-D2 cake we showed you last week was the coolest geek cake. But having a special place in my heart for the Atari 2600, I want to dig into this delicious cake made to look like the original Atari console.

What’s next? An NES and SNES cake? I hope so. I’m getting a sugar rush just looking at it in all it’s 8-bit glory. Ironically, the simple Pac-Man decorations along the side are an improvement on how that game looked on this console.

R2-D2 cake: There’s always room for droids

R2-D2 cake
An R2-D2 cake that barely even looks like a cake? My fingers crave to dig into it’s dome head as I partake of it’s droid goodness by the heaping handful. Pastry chef Mark Randazzo of Mark Joseph Cakes sculpted this amazing treat. Note to George Lucas, let this guy cater any Lucasfilm events from now on.

It is 100% edible. As you can see, there is some amazing detail on this cake. R2 cakes are nothing new of course, but this one is an absolute masterpiece. I just asked my wife why her cakes don’t look like that and I immediately got a wiimote to the balls. Careful with the Wii everyone, seems injuries really can happen.

R2-D2 laundry basket robs droids of dignity

R2-D2 laundry basket

There’s been a slew of R2-D2 items to come onto the market recently. Some of which must leave the little droid sobbing electronically in a corner somewhere. I must admit, I had never before thought about putting my socks and shirts, not to mention my un-mentionables into an R2 unit. It just doesn’t seem proper to degrade a droid that way. That’s why I’m convinced that this laundry basket must have been made by Jawas.

These are Japan imports. You get a set of two. One classic blue R2-D2 and one red R2-D1. This way, you can sort all of your nastiness into light side and dark side piles, then throw them in, disgracing our favorite droid.

No soy sauce here, just R2D2 to tuck you into your bed

R2D2 night light projectorIf you’re looking for something new to match with your “Star Wars” bedsheets, wallpaper and pajamas and that R2-D2 soy sauce bottle we told you about isn’t good for your bedroom then here is the droid that you have been looking for.

National Console Support is releasing an R2-D2 night light projector that will give you images of “Star Wars” goodness to drift off into dreamland while watching. Running off of two AAA batteries the projector will display moving vistas of the Death Star, an X-wing spaceship and Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon on your bedroom ceiling. Best of all the projector comes in two different models: the blue R2-D2 version or a red R2-M5 version if you actually like the “Star Wars” prequels over the original movie trilogy. The little guy’s legs move too and the dome flips over to reveal the projector (you didn’t think that the hologram projector was functional did you?)

R2-D2 Soy Sauce bottle: disturbance in the force

R2-D2 Soy Sauce bottle

We all love R2-D2, but this may be taking things to the extreme. For those who love the little droid too much and at the same time have an unhealthy obsession with Soy Sauce, the two have been combined. Just pour your soy sauce into R2(The liquid kind, not the sorta liquid kind), pop R2’s head back on and start pouring sauce from the little bot.

Seriously, did you ever think you would see the day when soy sauce pours forth from a droid head? I’m actually kinda disturbed, but I know some of you will find it cool. But wait, it gets better…

R2-D2 speakers make your computer geek-chic

Posted in Speakers, Star Wars by Conner Flynn on October 19th, 2007

Star Wars speakers from TaitoI know, I know. The world doesn’t need yet another R2-D2 product right? Wrong. I’m not sure why, but these Star Wars speakers from Taito make the geek in me very happy. Though, I’m not sure why they felt the need to put the speakers just under the head, making it look like R2 is decapitated. Even so, this will go well with the rest of your Star Wars themed life. You know, the bedsheets, posters, action figure dioramas, lunch boxes and that shirt you’re wearing.

They stand 4.72″ tall. You get one in blue and one in red, though the color combo seems like an odd choice. You won’t even sense that much of a disturbance in the force, paying $40 for this droid pair. Let’s face it, this won’t get you many dates, but you’ll have geek bragging rights among your friends. And if they make a C3P0 version, R2 won’t be lonely for long.

Ear Force AK-R8 gaming headset has eight speakersTurtle Beach has always been a company at the forefront of gamers audio needs. Their lineup of headphones to bring you your deathmatches, MMORPG late-night sessions and other digital mayhem are well known amongst the annals of gaming but their latest baby may top them all.

The Ear Force AK-R8 sounds a bit like it should be sharing screen time with R2-D2 in a “Star Wars” movie but it’s supposed to be the best multi-directional sound system for your PC gaming needs. There are 8 – let’s say that again, …

Will the New iRobot Cook or Clean?

Posted in iRobot by Chetz on May 22nd, 2007

iRobot announces new robots but doesn’t give purpose.Yesterday iRobot co-founder and chairman Helen Greiner got the media and investors playing a game of 20 questions when she revealed that her company had two new consumer robots that it planned to introduce before the holiday season. When each person began asking questions like “Is it a new vacuum cleaner robot?” or “Will it have an arm to grab things?” Greiner quickly turned down the volume and refused to answer this latest version of animal/vegetable/mineral. “We want to have a real launch of any product we put out,” Greiner …

LG Kompressor Vacuum

Posted in LG, Vacuum by Chetz on March 20th, 2007

LG Kompressor VacuumPerfect for those of us that like to make things from spare parts lying around the house comes LG’s Kompressor vacuum cleaner.

Looking like it’s six degrees of separation from being related to R2-D2, the Kompressor not only sucks up all the crud and dirt found on your floors but, true to its name, it smushes it all down into the shape of a brick. The idea behind this isn’t that you can make an extra guest room out of your dirt but that it gives the user up to four times as much space …
