All PS3 units will be firmware upgradeable to 3D |
Looks like it won’t be long before you are gaming on the PS3 with 3D technology. According to Sony, your current PS3 can support 3D with a firmware update. Sony wants into the 3D market and they are not just dipping a toe in either.
They will be offering 3D tools to developers making games on its platform. Not sure if we’ve heard anything about what Nintendo and Microsoft plan to do about 3D technology, but now that Sony has weighed in, they will likely speak up soon. The Xbox 360 could probably take the firmware route as well.


Rumor is that Firefox will be coming to the PlayStation 3. According to a PlayStation Insider source who’s “very close to SONY”, the company has been talking about the possibility of porting Mozilla’s web browser on to the PS3.
Originally it was rumored for an October release date, but then that changed to November 17th and sure enough Tony Hawk Ride was all ready to go on November 17. It will cost you $120 and the game/peripheral combo let you do all of the simulated skateboarding you want on the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. 
Well if you don’t have a home theater Netflix streaming option yet, but own an internet-connected Sony BRAVIA TV, Netflix just went live. Just as they promised back in July. You’ll be watching your favorite flicks in no time now.
Sony’s VGP-BMS80 VAIO Bluetooth Laser Mouse features technology that is a little more serious than a typical mouse. This guy will give you wireless control of your PS3 or PC as long as it’s within range.
Some screen shots of a new update for the PS3 that shows Facebook running on the console have tipped up in Europe. Facebook has been available on the Xbox 360 for a while but hasn’t been offered on other consoles.

PS3 users have been waiting for this one for awhile while their Xbox 360 buddies have been streaming Netflix since July of last year and bragging about it. But now is your time Sony fans. PS3 instant streaming discs are now being sent out to Netflix users who have requested them.
Back when I bought my PS3, I paid lots of money for it in part because of the Blu-ray player. Today Blu-ray players have come down significantly in price and several models are available for under $200. JVC added a new device to that under $200 list today called the XV-BP11.
If you are an Xbox 360 owner who has been wishing that those fantastic X-Arcade controllers that PC and PS3 gamers have been able to enjoy for a long time worked on your console you are in luck. X-Arcade has finally announced that its controllers will work with the Xbox 360.
You’ve been praying for it and now at long last Netflix streaming will be available “later this year” on the PS3. Just like the Xbox 360, it will be free with the $8.99-a-month plan. But with the PS3, you’ll enable Netflix via an “instant streaming Blu-ray disc.”
Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer may have inadvertently tipped off some plans for an external Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360. He’s doubtful that it will ever be built-in but he tells Gizmodo that an external Blu-ray drive will be an option. He doesn’t go into detail but is unexpectedly confident that the hardware is enroute.
