Solar-powered delivery boxes that cook pizza

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on May 25th, 2011

Some students from Brooklyn’s James Madison and Edward R. Murrow high schools will be out in Manhattan’s Union Square tomorrow showing off their solar-powered pizza boxes. If you want a slice, be there. I’m hungry already.

These solar-powered pizza boxes are pretty impressive and can reach up to 200-degrees on a hot day and that is hot enough to cook pizza. We aren’t sure about all of the details. It just looks like tin-foil. Any excuse for some free pizza is fine with us though. Hopefully this will make the Pizza industry a bit greener.

Dominos Pizza website hacked, customer data leaked

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on January 23rd, 2011

You might not be aware of this fact, but Dominos Pizza has been in India for more than a decade, so they decided to launch their online ordering system late last year. Clearly they weren’t ready for that move as a hacker managed to get a lot of customer data by hacking into their server.

The company isn’t saying what the extent of the damage is, but they have sent an apologetic letter to customers. Online privacy is apparently not taken very seriously. Their privacy policy is dated 2005.

Pizza Pi Cutter

Posted in Kitchen by Conner Flynn on December 9th, 2010

Nerds love Pizza. They also love Pi and aren’t afraid to rattle off every digit of it, even though all you hear is “3.14-oh-my-god-shut-the-hell-up-you-nerd-bastard”. Anyhow, the next time you slice your pizza, you might want to use the Pizza Pi Cutter.

It’s made out of plastic with stainless steel blades and it’s shaped like the classic Pi symbol. It would be perfect if it only cost $3.14, but it’s $17.99. The dual blades will cut every slice perfectly, the way you want.

If you live in the United Kingdom, you might have heard of the pizza chain “Pizza Express.” The rest of us, not so much. Soon they will have iPod docks behind the seats, starting with their Richmond location.

It’s all part of a ground-up redesign of the chain and they are calling the experiment “The Living Lab.” They will have electrical hook-ups all over the place so that customers can stay connected. Other features include sound-proof parabolic booths and a call light like you find on airplanes.

Star Trek Enterprise pizza wheel

Posted in Sci-Fi by Conner Flynn on September 21st, 2010

Trekkies love a good pizza. Who doesn’t? So if you are going to slice up a pizza, you may as well do it with the Enterprise. Set a course for the pepperoni frontier. This thing will slice your fresh pizza pie faster than phasers can slice through a Klingon warship.

The blade is made from laser-etched stainless steel, and the body is made from a durable zinc-alloy chromium plate. Mostly, it just looks awesome and you know it will impress your friends.

PayPal offers in-app payments for Android

Posted in Paypal by Conner Flynn on May 22nd, 2010

PayPal just launched its Mobile Payments Library for the Android OS, allowing developers to include in-app payments into their software without having to worry about keeping customers’ personal financial information secure. This means that soon you’ll be able to make PayPal transactions on your Android device without having to leave the application that you’re using.

This is pretty convenient for Android users. You can even purchase a pizza using PayPal as illustrated in the image above. But does this in-app PayPal payment method violate the Android Market Content Policy for Developers? It states that “developers should only charge for applications and downloads from Android Market through the Market’s Payment Processor”.

You have an iPhone and a hankering for some sweet Pizza Hut Pizza. What do you do? Well first you need to get Pizza Hut’s just unveiled new iPhone App. What other app will let you order food AND play a racing game? Suck on that Dominoes.

The app is as gimmicky as you might expect. Don’t believe me? When you order wings, you don’t just order wings. You need to shake your phone to get the wings covered in sauce. I guess that way, you only have yourself to blame if they taste like crap.
