Asus announced yesterday that it would be adding NVIDA Ion graphics to several of its Eee computers in different lines. One of the machines getting the Ion power was the Eee 1201N netbook. Today Asus has unveiled the full specs for the 1201N and it should be a great little netbook.

In addition to the Ion lovin’ on the graphics front, the machine gets an Intel Atom 330 dual-core processor. The machine uses the new style chicklet keyboard, which is full size in this case. The machine gets a 12.1-inch LCD with a resolution of 1366 x 768.

Is it a weapon? A PC from the future? The allspark? A cyborg heart from the year 2037? It’s actually BIll Owens’ award-winning NVIDIA ION Cube PC case mod, based on NVIDIA’s ION ITX motherboard. The aluminum case has UV green acrylic sheets, lit up with 4 cathode lights, and then placed on pedestal, where it rotates a full 360°.

The PC also features an x64 SSD by Corsair, 4GB RAM, and a 90-watt pico power supply, along with Windows Vista Premium, and an LG GH22 DVD Writer drive.

Maingear just launched a new range of PCs dubbed Maingear Shift, which they are calling the “personal supercomputer that redefines computing performance, design and support”. The Maingear SHIFT uses the power of graphics processing units (GPU) and is designed to speed up everyday mundane tasks like video and photo editing.

The SHIFT features an aluminum case, steel skeleton and advanced cooling with bottom and top airflow and liquid cooling. Two models in the range are available, the SHIFT Intel P55, which comes with an Intel Core I7 800 series processor, Intel Kingsberg P55 Extreme Series motherboard,ATI Radon or NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 6 hard drives, or 12 SSDs, and either a Blu-ray or DVD burner.

Take a look at the pic above. That’s a livingroom inside of a PC. I knew tiny people were living in our PCs, but this is the proof I have been waiting for. But who lives there? How long have they been in residence? Should we be charging them rent? Are they affecting performance? So many questions.

They’ve been in this PC for a while as evidenced by the Cracker Jacks on the table and the tiny copy of the New York Times. They’ve even matched the furniture with the red motherboard.

Check out this totally funkadelic PC case mod that glows like a toxic night-lite. This one comes from modder JJ-Sky5000 and was created for a Coolermaster contest. The Project ‘Cool’ Boombox PC Case Mod. Cool doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Obviously the mod uses an old boombox from 1990s to great effect. I see some groovin’ dude carrying this thing on his shoulder, moving to the music as he strolls down post-apocalyptic streets in search of nothing more than good times.

Remember that cool Pyramid PC we showed you in March? Well, here’s a new version, which is much cooler. It was created my Modder Gup, who has a great eye for ancient detail.

If you see some Stargate in it you are absolutely right. Gup’s Pyramid HTPC casemod was inspired by Stargate and features a moving side panel and built in lights which can all be operated by remote control. Inside the Pyramid you won’t find mummies, but you will find an Intel T7200 Core 2 Duo processor, Mini-Itx Crommel LV-677 motherboard, 2GB of DDR2 Ram and a 160GB hard drive, plus a Gforce 9400GT graphics card. Mini computers are growing in popularity every day and over the last several months there have been lots of new mini PCs, nettops, and netbooks unveiled. These low cost systems have proven very compelling options for consumers with less to spend during the global economic crunch.

IFA 2009 is in full swing over in Europe and Fujutsu has unveiled its latest Mini PC called the Esprimo Q1500. The little mini PC is packed inside a small case that has a volume of 1.4 liters and still offers HDMI out and optional Blu-ray. The machine is square and is about the size of a CD case according to Fujitsu.

Here’s a nasty looking PC case mod. I don’t know whether to admire it or run in fear while I still have my limbs. Apparently it was created by a Russian modder who was inspired by Doom 3. You have to love the detail work, right down to the blood on the chainsaw.

It’s much more than just Doom 3-style yellow paint on the exterior. Inside you’ll find an AMD64 Sempron 2600 + CPU, Geforce 6600GT graphics card and ASRock K8NF4G-SATA2 drive. Not that you can take your eyes off of the chainsaw.

If you are considering picking up a BlackBerry, why not get two while you are at it? Verizon is kicking off their “Buy One, Get One” promotion. Apparently the deal covers not only a second BlackBerry but a netbook, PC card, USB modem or MiFi.

As is usually the case, you’re getting the cheapest item free and it’s rebate-based, so you will have to pay for both devices and then wait with baited breath for your check to arrive in the mail. Apparently the promotion starts today and runs through until October 10th.

I’m not a WOW player, but this PC case with WOW art on it looks pretty damn sweet, featuring some Orc artwork. The translations make it difficult to figure out, but this is either a retail case or a PC case mod that will cost you $299.

If I was an uber WOW geek, I would snag this one up quick and brag to all of my guild mates about it. Then they would have no choice but to make me guild leader. One day it will happen. One day. It has to. It’s all I have. It is my destiny.

An iPod is a great thing and the iPhone is even greater for many of us. The devices allow us to carry around huge music libraries without needing big catalogs of CDs. One of the most common accessories that iPod and iPhone owners add to their devices is a speaker dock. Today I am going to check out the Eagle Arion 2.1 iDock Speakers with Subwoofer. This casemod combines the shell of an old SNES console with the brains and guts of a modern PC. Anytime we see a CD sticking out of an SNES cartridge, we can’t help but smile. Modders quangDX and DuPPs took an old Super Nintendo and merged it with an Acer Aspire One A150 laptop. They call their new creation the aaSNES1.

And yes, they managed to mount a slot-loading DVDRW drive inside of the Super Mario World cartridge! But it wasn’t that simple. They didn’t have enough room inside the UK model SNES cartridge, but managed to cut things apart enough to get the drive to work. The eject button even ejects the DVD.

Wild casemods are nothing new. But this one is pretty unique. It has a menacing look and looks like it would keep you warm in place of a fire as you sip your Vodka.

There isn’t much info on it. Looks like bronze built around some Demon trapped Inside. Which makes it a great solid piece of furniture instead of a boring PC case.

Here’s a new and interesting way to geek up your home. Make it look just a little more steampunk with these Steampunk light switch plates. You might as well. They go with your bowler hat and handlebar mustache. We have just one request. Stop asking people to address you as Mr. Jules Verne. It’s kinda creepy.

Sadly you can’t buy these ready-made. But if you want them, there are instructions on how to create one of these for yourself. There are a variety of types you can create in various degrees of building difficulty. Hey why not?
