Chinavasion Full Bamboo Keyboard and Mouse Combo

Posted in Keyboards by Conner Flynn on December 9th, 2010

Beware Panda attacks if using this Bamboo Keyboard and mouse combo from Chinavasion. It is too tempting a treat for Pandas, who will want to eat it for dinner. The laser engraved bamboo keys apparently absorb sweat, stay clean and feel comfortable, while being environmentally friendly.

They do look pretty nice and it beats cold plastic any day. This combo will cost you $33.44. Just plug them into your USB ports and you are good to go.

The drives are in the Endangered Species USB flash drive line and come in penguin, polar bear, and panda bear styles. Each drive is 2.2-inches long and support Mac and PC systems. The drives are made from silicone and are PVC, lead, and mercury free.

Onkyo DX dual-screen laptop

Onkyo DX dual-screen laptopIf this looks familiar it’s because it’s pretty much the same as the Japanese Kohjinsha DZ-series dual-display laptop we’ve already seen. But Onkyo’s DX gives you a pair of 10.1-inch 1,366 × 768 pixel LCD displays.

It features the same 1.6GHz Athlon Neo MV-40 CPU, ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and 3x USB jacks, with 2GB of memory expandable to 4GB, a 320GB 5,400rpm disk, Gigabit Ethernet, and 32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium.

USB Panda Speakers look sad

USB Panda Speakers look sadAre you in desperate need of a giant animal head on your desk? One that has large black eyes that hold sadness like an abyss? It’s just what it appears to be, a giant honking Panda head with speakers in it’s eyes.

Why you would want one, we can’t begin to guess. How you interact with it, we don’t want to know. It will cost you $27 if you want this USB-powered speaker. He looks pretty depressing to me. As if he’s begging you to save his dying species.

Hands On: Sansa Clip+

Posted in Review by Conner Flynn on October 12th, 2009

SanDisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 playerSanDisk sent us a complimentary Sansa Clip+ to check out. After using it for several days, we’re ready to share our thoughts on the device. The original Sansa Clip has been a popular choice where cheap mp3 players are concerned and the Sansa Clip+ is even better.

The design beats the original, with a larger capacity and better features. The first thing that you notice is how durable this thing is. Despite it’s tiny size, it looks and feels tough. It’s definitely more durable than your average mp3 player. And it feels natural in your hand.

Panda Bear USB flash drive

Panda Bear USB flash driveWith this USB flash drive it’s like you have sawed a Panda in half everytime you go to use it. Ling-Ling here will go on a bamboo diet and eat your data instead. A portion of the proceeds (5%) goes to the WWF to save real pandas, with a minimum annual donation of $25,000. And you love Pandas right?

It’s available in 2GB, 8GB, and 16GB sizes. It’s a nice change of pace that they opted to saw him in half rather than decapitate him. For once.

Micro Innovations goes all bamboo

Posted in PCs by Conner Flynn on February 13th, 2009

Micro Innovations goes all bambooTwo creatures love bamboo a whole lot. Pandas and eco-loving hippies. I make fun, but both creatures are smart, because bamboo grows super fast so chopping it down to be used in electronic devices, or to eat, is a good idea. Micro Innovations is the latest company to feature accessories made with a bamboo shell.

Those accessories include speakers, a card reader, a webcam, USB hub, keyboard and a mouse. Hopefully the guts of these devices are a little greener as well, not just the casing. These should be available in an electronics store near you around April or May.

Poken USB figures exchange contacts with huge hands

Posted in USB by Conner Flynn on December 21st, 2008

Poken USB figures exchanges contacts with huge handsThese weird little figures are called Poken. They let you exchange contact details with someone else in a physical way. With high fives. And hey, Poken are cute. Why the hell not? The USB device comes in four varieties: bee, alien, panda and flaming skeleton. Odd combination to be sure, but I’m assuming they all get along just swell.

Just put your Poken’s hand up to your buddy’s, then when you plug yours into a USB port later, your friend’s contacts will automatically sync to your Poken account, which propogates to Facebook, MySpace and other networks. I’m sure it will all work out fine, because surely everyone that you know also has a Poken. Which is a requirement.
