Panasonic upgrades F9, S9 and N9 Notebooks in Japan

Panasonic is doing some upgrading. The company has announced some new upgraded notebooks in Japan. The F9, S9, and N9 all have specifications similar to the originals and offer an Intel Core i5-560M processor clocked at 2.66GHz, 4GB of RAM, WiMAX, and Wi-Fi.

Battery life is 14.5-hours, with the F9 is only doing 9-hours. Panasonic allows these models to be customized to your liking, if you want to increase the RAM, hard drive, SSD, or choose an Intel Core i7-650M processor.

Toshiba UHS-I SDHC and microSDHC cards

Toshiba’s first batch of lightning-quick UHS-I cards ship in November, Toshiba’s chips will be faster and larger than Panasonic’s. Toshiba is offering full-size SDHC UHS-I cards at up to 32GB that promise maximum read and write times of 95MB/s and 80MB/s respectively, not to mention tiny microSDHC units that manage a very respectable 40MB/s and 20MB/s.

These numbers might be a bit less in practice, but we imagine you’ll get at least the quoted minimum transfer rate of 10MB/s. No prices on these just yet, but we will know soon.

Panasonic launches New iPod/iPhone certified headphones

Panasonic has launched its new HJC120 and HSC200 headphones. Both are certified for Apple’s iPod and iPhone and both models offer a built-in microphone and remote. They can also access the VoiceOver function of the iPod shuffle, which is nice.

The remote control is water resistant for extra protection. The HJC120 is a canal type of headphone with an ergonomic design and a 90mm OctaRib speaker, while the HSC200 has a water resistant speaker housing with 12.4mm speakers for more dynamic sound.

Panasonic Viera TX-L32D28BP HD Plasma TV

If you are in the market for a new Plasma HD TV, Panasonic has just rolled out a new HD LCD Plasma TV, called the Panasonic Viera TX-L32D28BP. It fits in with the D28 series and features a 32-inch edge-lit LED TV with a wide 178° viewing angle.

Other features include Panasonic’s Viera Cast internet platform, Ethernet and Wi-Fi. You can also enjoy online content like videos, photos, weather and stock information through the Web interface.

Panasonic introduces 42 and 50 inch 3D Viera GT25 plasmas

The 3D onslaught continues. Now Panasonic has a new pair of 3D plasmas for gamers, with their Viera 3D GT25 range. There’s the 50-inch TC-P50GT25 and the 42-inch TC-P42G25.

The latter is the company’s first-ever 42-inch Full HD 3D plasma. Both will require active shutter glasses in order to use. Features include a 1080p panel, 600Hz sub-field drive, 24p playback and 2D-to-3D conversion. The pair should hit retail shelves by the end of the month.

Panasonic announces new Toughbook Permanent Display Removable Computer

Panasonic has announced its latest Toughbook Permanent Display Removable Computer (PDRC) which will merge a vehicle-mounted display and full-functioning keyboard together for heightened accessibility within public safety vehicles.

Some of the upgrades to the PDRC include a brighter touchscreen display, improved user visibility and less connection cables. This will be add unprecedented flexibility to in-vehicle computing and it will work seamlessly with other Toughbook mobile computers like the Toughbook U1, H1 Field, 19 and 31.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 High-speed Superzoom Camera

Panasonic has just announced the Lumix DMC-FZ100, their latest model in the FZ-Series of Lumix digital cameras. Some features include a tilt-and-swivel 3-inch LCD display, a built-in eye-level electronic viewfinder (EVF), and a hot shoe that supports external flash or a microphone.

Expect this one to be launched in August for about $500. Some specs include a 14-megapixel CMOS sensor, RAW shooting, Venus Engine FHD image processor, Support for 1080p AVCHD Lite video capture, 11fps burst shooting, 3-inch swivel LCD display and a 24x optical zoom.

Panasonic adds Blu-ray 3D/HDD all-in-one plasmas

Panasonic wants to improve your living room entertainment options with their RT2B series plasmas which can record TV broadcasts onto their hard drives or Blu-ray drives.

These are also the first all-in-one models that can handle Blu-ray 3D movie playback too. There are 42″ and 46″ versions. Sadly, the likelihood of seeing them on our shores is very small. But we may just see their new 3D glasses, which come in various sizes and can be recharged via USB.

Sears and Kmart to launch streaming video service this Christmas

Is it too early to talk Christmas? Not for Kmart and Sears. As physical media sales continue to drop, these two names are looking toward streaming content, with the Alphaline Entertainment service. Alphaline is powered Sonic’s RoxioNow and will be available on TVs and Blu-ray players manufactured by Sharp, LG, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, and RCA.

Setup of the device is included in the sale price, should you find your DIY skills lacking. The service will arrive this holiday season.

Panasonic announces Toughbook F9 Notebook

Panasonic has another rugged notebook in its Toughbook line with the Panasonic Toughbook F9. According to Panasonic the Toughbook F9 is the worlds lightest 14 inch rugged notebook. The notebook features a 14.1 inch widescreen LED backlit display with a resolution of 1440 x 900, an Intel Core i5 520M 2.4GHz processor and 2GB of DDR3 RAM which can be upgraded to 6GB.

Some other specs include a 320GB hard drive, a DVD Super Multi Drive, integrated 802.11 a.b.g.n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and optional WiMax and optional integrated WWANB.

Panasonic offers pricing on FX75 camera

About a week ago Panasonic officially unveiled the FX75 point and shoot digital camera. At the time the price and launch date weren’t offered, just the specs.

If you missed the specs, the camera has a 24mm ultra-wide angle lens with 5x optical zoom. The resolution is 14.1MP and the camera can record HD video in AVCHD Lite format the camera has a wide range of auto modes.

Samsung 3D Glasses compatible with other TVs when worn upside down

The incompatibility of glasses from 3DTV manufacturers is another sign that 3DTV is just a passing phase. And I find it to be an annoying one personally. Now there’s word from Samsung that they should work with other TVs if worn upside down. Which really stinks because you already look ridiculous enough.

The trick was revealed during a demonstration of Samsung’s 3DTVs in the UK, with R&D chief Simon Lee using a Panasonic 3DTV to explain the compatibility. The trick will only work on sets that use Active Shutter glasses, and so far it has only been tested with Samsung and Panasonic’s sets.

Leica makes some of the more expensive digital camera on the market. The company has a new camera coming soon called the V-Lux 20 and the first image of the new digital camera set to launch next month have surfaced.

The new camera will be officially unveiled on April 20. It is based on the Panasonic ZS-7 and features integrated GPS and a HD movie recording mode. The rear LCD is a 3-inch unit.

Blu-ray Discs now offer up to 128GB of space

If you think that the 50GB capacity of Blu-ray discs just isn’t enough, then we have some good news for you. The new BDXL format will offer a capacity of up to 128GB (write once), or 100GB (rewritable).

As is often the problem with breakthroughs like this, there is some bad news as well. You will likely need a new player to use these discs. That’s because it uses three to four layers, so you need a more powerful laser. The format is an extension, so they may be made to work with existing devices, but we aren’t sure what kind of capacities that would yield.
