Posted in Tablet PC by Conner Flynn on January 31st, 2011

It hasn’t been easy lately for Notion Ink. Amid other delays, the company has now had to send out some emails to some Adam buyers informing them that delivery has been delayed to February 14th.

The problem is a shipment of damaged touchscreens, which will affect an estimated five percent of all orders. Touchscreen supplier Sintek has vowed to refill the problem stock. Hopefully things go smoother for Notion Ink after this.

An unofficial count from Shawn Dubrovac has revealed the sheer numbers of tablets that have leapt onto the tablet market following the early success of the iPad. The list shows that at least 100 tablets and crossover e-readers have shipped, including not just major names like the BlackBerry PlayBook and Motorola Xoom but also newcomers like Enspert’s Identity Tab line and the Notion Ink Adam. The list includes 24 generic tablets at Freescale’s booth as well.

And that is not even a complete list. It doesn’t include some close relatives, like Enspert’s S200 VoIP Home Hub, and devices that have been confirmed officially but weren’t formally unveiled at the show.

Notion Ink Adam tablet delayed due to lack of FCC stamps

Posted in Tablet PC by Conner Flynn on January 11th, 2011

You know how it is, you get ready to mail out a bunch of bills, and you realize that you don’t have enough stamps. It sucks. That’s kinda what’s going on with Notion Ink’s Adam tablet, although with different kinds of stamps. The company has been sending out notices informing people that the devices have been delayed slightly since the company has yet to receive the final FCC and CE numbers that are to be printed on the device.

The company says that the Holiday season pushed the administrative work back a bit, but it promises that it will be sorted within the week. Hopefully they sort it out soon, before your eye wonders to another tablet.

Notion Ink’s Adam Tablet to have Flash, 1080p, twice the battery life of the iPad

Posted in Tablet PC by Conner Flynn on February 9th, 2010

What’s not to love here? Flash, a longer battery life, and 1080p for starters. This is how Notion Ink is hoping its Android-powered Adam tablet will win your heart. Apparently they’re toying with the idea of launching two different models, one 12.9mm thin and one 11.6mm thin, which suggests different display options.

CEO Rohan Shravan told SlashGear that with the Nvidia chip and Pixel Qi screen, the Adam will boast a battery life at least twice as long as the iPad. Then there’s the 1080p video where the iPad has only 576p, and as mentioned Flash. This could be your new favorite tablet.
