What you are looking at is a Game Boy hooked up to a nitrous oxide machine, so that this child can be sedated. It’s called the PediSedate and it’s probably a really bad idea.

The PediSedate was designed for use by dentists. Apparently they got bored with putting people under the normal way. The idea is to distract kids with video games while they are drugged for root canal surgery and such. That doesn’t seem creepy at all.

Looks like the rumors were pretty close. After months of silence, Nintendo has announced a date for US availability of its MotionPlus Wiimote accessory.

We figured it would be here by now, but maybe they just needed some time to perfect it. On June 8th Nintendo will ship the MotionPlus add-on to the US. The device will cost you $19.99, or after until July 26th you can pick up the Wii Sports Resort for $49.99, which comes bundled with the accessory.

Looks like Nintendo is being a bit of a grinch, by saying that there are no plans to cut the price on Wii systems. This comes straight from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, in response to recent speculation that a Wii price cut could be in the works. It seemed likely since manufacturing costs for the console have supposedly dropped quite a bit recently.

According to Iwata, they won’t be driving up sales numbers with a price cut. Instead Nintendo will put “more energy and time into making better entertainment so that our products are going to remain in the top position in our customer’s wish lists”.

The unthinkable has happened. For the first time in 16 months, sales of the PS3 in Japan jumped 80% in the last five weeks of March compared to a year ago. At the same time, demand for the Wii went down by almost 63% to 99,335.

You can chalk up at least part of this to the release of a few new popular games like Resident Evil 5. Which helped up the PS3′s sales figures beyond the Wii’s for the first time since November a few years ago. It should also be noted that nearly everyone in Japan seems to already own a Wii.

A group of designers have come up with a new gadget that allows you to keep track of how much water you waste while showering. The concept consists of three devices working together. The REFRESH-N-REMIND shower monitor, REDUCE-YOUR-USE mat and the RELAX-N-REUSE seat.

It reminds me of a Wii accessory if Nintendo made shower related games. With the REDUCE-YOUR-USE mat, the water turns off when you back away. The RELAX-N-REUSE seat lets you sit while you shave and collects water to be re-used watering plants etc. The REFRESH-N-REMIND monitor will clue you in on how much water you are using.

Fans of Ace Attorney will be happy to know that Capcom is releasing a new game based on the famous series at the end of this month. Capcom is all set to release a limited edition DSi branded with Taihokun, the Police Mascot designed by Gumshoe (a Character in the game) and a special package including the new opus of the Ace Attorney series.

It may not be as cool as the GTA: Chinatown Wars Ds Lite, but it’s cooler than the Kingdom Hearts DSi. It’s nice to see so much variety in Nintendo’s handheld lately.

The Nintendo DSi just launched and already we can show you some hardware to buy for the new handheld. The folks over at Joystiq sat down with David Young, the assistant PR manager for Nintendo of America. Mr. Young said that DSi interaction with the Wii was “certainly a possibility,” but he didn’t say anything else on the matter.

He did let one thing out of the bag though. That the DSi will soon be interacting with some new peripherals in the form of a pair of pedometers that will ship with the Personal Trainer: Walking title. Apparently the devices connect wirelessly with the console. The game will be the first title where you can import a Mii character from the Wii. You can even attach one of the pedometers to your dog if you like, to gauge it’s exercise habits/needs.

The device shuts down your Nintendo DS if you’ve been playing for too long. How long is too long? Either 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. It depends how bad you need help. The problem is if you are truly addicted, you just won’t buy one. Or if you do, you could always just turn the system back on and keep playing for another 2 hours. So, if you buy this, consider yourself scammed and not bright enough to join the human race outside of your DS screen. We don’t want ya, so just keep right on playing.

Not that there’s any chance in hell of getting a new iPhone that looks like an old school gameboy, but I’m hoping I can find me this cool case at least. Who cares if it cuts your screen size?

It’s what you might expect if Steve Jobs was a Nintendo fanboy. Someone somewhere probably made this themselves. Another cool wrap that would look good over your iPhone is a Vintage Walkman. I have no idea where to get one. I just thought it was cool.

In previous reports from Greenpeace, HP, Lenovo, and Dell haven’t done very badly, but the trio has failed to meet Greenpeaces expectations this time. They made promises they could not keep. All three had promised to eliminate PVC and brominated flame retardants in their products by the end of this year, but now they will apparently not be able to meet that deadline.

The only one to offer up a new deadline is Lenovo, who says they will now do it by the end of 2010. On the other end of the spectrum, Philips has jumped from 15th place to 4th, largely due to new recycling initiatives.

Still disappointed that Nintendo missed out on high definition Nintendo games with the Wii? Luckily for you there is a workaround. You’ll need a Dolphin emulator for the Wii and to legally copy your own games to your PC. Then you can see what they’d look like if Nintendo had decided to up the Wii’s graphics.

Today at GDC09, Masato Kuwahara, project leader on the development of the Nintendo DSi, gave people a first-ever glimpse at two Game Boy spin-offs that never were. The first a is hefty predecessor to the Game Boy Advance; the second a touch-screen GBA SP.

Kuwahara says that the unnamed Game Boy Color successor was in development in 1995/96 and based on a 32-bit ARM RISC processor. The second, more recent R&D project was essentially a Game Boy Advance SP with a touch-screen over its flip-up display. The guts of the unit were actually from a Game Boy Color. It “was not well received” by Nintendo management.

According to Masato Kuwahara, project leader of the Nintendo DSi Hardware group, the big N is planning “Nintendo DSi enhanced game cards,” that offer DSi hardware-specific game features. The games would still be playable on both the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo DSi, but would have special features that can only be accessed on the DSi.

Kuwahara gave an example of using these features to create textures from photographs taken with the DSi camera. So, I’m guessing you can map your face onto Mario or a Pokemon if you want.

At long last Nintendo is finally doing something about storage. Finally. You can back up titles to SD and now games can be played straight from the cards. The SD Card Menu can be accessed from the Wii System Menu 4.0. That’s the new update that we are getting right now.

It lets the Wii work with memory cards larger than 2GB, maxing out at 32GB. Nintendo is also launching the new Virtual Console Arcade, that gives you all the old arcade titles on the Wii.

Initially unveiled back in September of last year, the “Gametrak Freedom” motion controller for Xbox 360 and the PS3 returns after a makeover. It’s currently on display at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

It should be available this fall for the Xbox 360, the PS3 version will likely follow next year. The Freedom obviously closely resembles the Nintendo Wii remote. In fact, it just looks like a bad knockoff. It will ship with a USB-port base station connected to two wands that sit on either side of your TV. Unlike the Wii remote, the Freedom won’t require line-of-sight. Instead it will use “ultrasonic 3D positioning” to relay the remote’s position via pulses.
