Disney announces smartphones

Disney Mobile will be unveiling a new range of Disney smartphones that your kids will definitely want. They will actually be rebranded Sharp Galapagos 003SH phones, that have 3D screens that don’t require special glasses, not brand new models.

Some features of these kid friendly phones include 3.8″ 3D-displays, a 9.6 megapixel camera, and Android 2.2. They will also come with a special @disney.ne.jp MMS address, Disney home screens, apps, widgets, emoticons and specially designed covers. No info on pricing yet, but they will be available in February.

Panasonic RP-HX300 and RP-HX200 Overhead Headphones

Panasonic is launching two new overhead headphones in Japan. They are called the RP-HX300 and RP-HX200. Both models feature a new colorful stylish design and are made to be super light for comfort.

The Panasonic RP-HX300 weighs just 99 grams and provides an impedance of 32-Ohm, a sensitivity of 116cB/mW and has a few 35mm driver units. The Panasonic RP-HX200 weighs 88 grams and comes with a pair of 30mm drive units. No info on pricing just yet though.

Best Buy’s Buy Back Program gets official

Wouldn’t you like to “future proof” your gadgets? Sure, we all would. And now we can, thanks to Best Buy’s Buy Back program. It will allow users to trade in their laptops, netbooks, tablets or smartphones for a percentage of the device’s original value. The company calls it “future proofing”. We call it, getting something for your old gadget, instead of just tossing it and getting nothing.

The Buy Back Program will start later this month and will cost $69.99 for laptops, netbooks and tablets. It’s $59.99 for mobile phones. When your device is covered, Best Buy will purchase the product back anytime within two years and you may receive up to 50 percent of the product’s original purchase price, paid back to you in the form of a Best Buy gift card, valid for six months.

Samsung to show off new tablets and smartphones at MWC 2011

Word on the street is that Samsung is planning to launch its next-generation of Galaxy Tab tablets at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in February 2011, as well as a new range of Android-powered phones.

Some of these new handsets will feature dual-core processors, Super AMOLED Plus displays and run Android 2.3 Gingerbread. They have already outed some great new gear at CES, so we can’t wait to see what they are offering.

Acer unveils Android-based Liquid Mini and beTouch handsets

Acer has introduced two new Android-based handsets. The Liquid Mini and beTouch E210 are aimed at entry-level users and both ship with Android 2.2. The Liquid Mini features a 3.2-inch 480×320 touchscreen with a 600MHz processor and a five-megapixel camera.

The beTouch E210 has a smaller 2.6-inch touchscreen, a portrait QWERTY keyboard and a 416Mhz processor. Both are equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and FM radios. You can expect them in April and March in the UK. No pricing or plans for a North American release as yet.

Samsung SH100 Wi-Fi Digital Camera connects directly to Galaxy S phone

Samsung has announced a new camera, the 14.2 megapixel SH100, equipped with built-in Wi-Fi so you can share your photos nearly instantaneously over Wi-Fi and also has high definition video recording. The Samsung SH100 will also connect via Wi-Fi directly to Samsung’s Galaxy S phone allowing you to view your photos on the phones screen in real time and control the shutter on the SH100 via remote.

Other features include the ability to back up photos automatically to a computer via DLNA or through the touchscreen navigation. The new Samsung SH100 Wi-Fi camera will be shipping in March and will cost you $129.99.

How to get around the iPhone New Year alarm glitch

Apple’s iPhone alarm clock experienced a strange glitch with the new year and failed to wake users on New Year’s Day and January 2. This is caused by a bug that Apple still hasn’t fully explained, but the company did make a statement yesterday saying that the failure of its clock app only happens when you set a one-time alarm, and that it will somehow fix itself on January 3. However despite that, the problem still apparently exists.

So if you want to make sure that you wake up on time and don’t piss off your boss, here’s how to work around the problem until we get a proper fix.

Pioneer TF-FN2000 Minimalist Cordless Phone

Pioneer Japan has introduced a new series of compact cordless phones, dubbed the Pioneer TF-FN2000 series. This 2.4GHz cordless phone features an LED display, an answering machine, a call screening system and a hands-free mode. It certainly is unique looking.

The Pioneer TF-FN2000 delivers 6-hours of continuous talk time on a full charge and comes with a compact cradle and an ultra minimalistic handset. This device is available in black, white and red. It should be launched in Japan later this month.

Empire Brands to launch 3D series headphones at CES 2011

Empire Brands will use CES to roll out its new 3D series line of headphones. The 3D series will be the flagship line of headphones under their Wicked Audio line-up, featuring raised and colorful artwork in a striking 3D effect. We have to admit, they look pretty stylish.

They also feature maximum noise isolation that will inhibit ambient noise to ensure the best audio quality. The adjustable headband and padded earcups will also guarantee a great listening experience.

HTC Thunderbolt to be Verizon’s first 4G LTE handset

Are you eagerly waiting for the first 4G LTE phone from Verizon? We have some news. Verizon Wireless is set to unveil about a half-dozen 4G LTE smartphones at next week’s Consumer Electronics Show. This may be the first in line. The HTC Thunderbolt resembles the Desire HD, it’s just much more capable.

The device features a kickstand and Google branding. Verizon has refused to comment on the phone so far. It looks ultra sexy though, don’t you think?

Sony MDR-EX1000 Earphones are expensive

The MDR-EX1000 is an Asia-only release, which comes with ultra large drivers of 16mm for superb sound reproduction. It also includes 10 different silicon earbuds for better fits. That should mean no more sore ears for any of us.

The 16mm drivers can inject 3-30,000Hz of audio awesomeness into your skull, which will wrap around your brain like a spiky nano-storm of audio-erotica. At least, I hope it’s that cool, because these babies cost $799. Better start saving.

Apple Patent App shows antennas behind the Apple Logo

Apple is a patent filing monster. Let’s face it, they have a patent for everything. The latest patent app to surface from Apple has the name of many of the members of the iPhone team on it and once the app is approved, it will have the Apple name applied to the final patent.

The patent app details a new way that Apple wants to put antennas behind logos on their products. So in the future, your iPhone antenna might be behind the Apple logo. The antennas will be used on notebooks, phones, and other devices. This is one that we will likely see come to pass at some point soon.

Presenting The Poop Phone

You may or may not be aware of it, but there is a range of phones in China by a manufacturer called OPPO and they sell pretty well. That’s apparently why members of the Shanzai have created a knock-off model. They didn’t just copy, they changed things a round a bit as usual and the result is this new POOP line of cellphones.

We don’t have any info on features or a price, but I can just imagine their advertising. Stay in touch with the power of Poop. Or Put a Poop in your hands today.

Sennheiser Adidas CX 310 earbuds

Sennheiser has unveiled a new set of earbuds that are Adidas branded, the CX 310. These new earbuds have three ear tip sizes and come with a carrying case. They promise deep bass and are designed to work with any music device including the your iPhone, iPod, and other MP3 players.

The CX 310 earphones feature a frequency response 19 – 21000 Hz and have a sound pressure level of 113dB and an impedance of 16 ohms. The cable length is 1.2m and the connector is an angled 3.5mm plug. They look pretty nice.
