Nerf Dart Tag Swarmfire

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on February 14th, 2011

You have to relieve stress in the office right? What better way then with a gun? A nerf gun of course. The Nerf Dart Tag Swarmfire shoots up to 20 darts in rapid succession at your co-workers or anyone else it happens to be pointed at.

It’s a bit heavier than usual, for stability, and it requires half a dozen “C” batteries instead of the AA’s which add to the weight. Get ready to unleash some intense Nerf fury on your unsuspecting victims. I know you can’t wait for this one.

PDP shows off NERF Switch Shot EX-3 Wii blaster

Posted in Controllers by Shane McGlaun on October 8th, 2009

nerfswitchshotex3-sgI am a big fan of NERF Blasters and we have a bunch of them around our house. You never know when you might walk around a corner and take a NERF dart to the head. PDP unveiled a new NERF Switch Shot EX-3 blaster today that also works with the Nintendo Wii.

PDP says the device is Nintendo licensed and can be used in three ways. First, it will shoot a pair of darts that store under the barrel waiting to be used. The device also has a Red Reveal used to play the NERF N-Strike Elite game from EA.

EA announces N-Strike 2 Nerf game for Wii

Posted in EA by Shane McGlaun on July 9th, 2009

nerfnstrike2-sbLast Christmas my son really wanted the Nerf game for the Nintendo Wii from Santa. The game was a cool kid friendly shooter that also could be used with a special Nerf blaster that could hold a Wii remote and shoot real darts. The catch was that the game and the blaster were sold separately.

EA has announced the follow up to the game, which will ship this fall and will be called Nerf 2: N-Strike Elite. The game will ship with a special Nerf Switch Shot EX-3 blaster that features a special red decoder eyepiece that flips up.

Nerf dart gun modded into an awesome chaingun

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on December 22nd, 2008

Nerf dart gun modded into an awesome chaingunSome crazy modders at ManaPotions have taken the relatively tame Vulcan EBF-25 and given it some backbone that is sure to make the nerds at Nerf nervous, transforming the relatively harmless foam dart gun into an honest to god chaingun.

After the hack, the weapon can fire about 500 rounds-per-minute. If you want one, the entire hack can be had in detail by clicking through. Be warned, the creators say that you’ll most likely fry the motor and melt a few components after you use it for a while. Awesome video below.

Nerf Vulcan rains fully automatic foam death on enemies

Posted in nerf by Shane McGlaun on November 28th, 2008

Nerf Vulcan Machine GunThere are lots of kids my son’s age in our neighborhood and frequently they end up at my house with Nerf guns blasting each other with foam darts. Nerf wars are lots of fun and kids (or adults) of all ages can partake in the action.

Nerf has introduced a new dart gun for the holiday season that is the ultimate weapon for backyard Nerf wars. The thing is called the N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25. The gun is fully automatic and can shoot three Nerf darts per second from a belt that holds 25 darts.

Shooting fire extinguisher concept

Shooting fire extinguisher conceptIf fire extinguishers were more like Bazookas, I think more people would volunteer for the job. Fire AND shooting stuff? Hell yeah! Shooting fires out? Even better. This concept is modeled on a light-weight gun design and is loaded with CO2 cartridges with a laser guidance system, so you can hit the target in an emergency.

Just hit the alarm button to alert everybody else that there’s a fire and then pull the trigger and fire. It’s a great concept. Problem is, it’s so fun people would be starting fires just to put them out again. Just think, all those nerf gun hours you logged during your life could finally pay off.

Nerf Wii Blaster: a Wii gun that fires darts

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on February 14th, 2008

Nerf Wii Blaster
Nerf and the the Zapper now have a love child, thanks to a new partnership between Electronic Arts and Hasbro. They’ve revealed Nerf N-Strike for the Nintendo Wii and DS systems, along with a Wiimote-based Nerf blaster. Nerf’s Wii blaster isn’t the usual Nintendo Zapper clone. That’s because it doubles as a functional Nerf dart gun. Just stick the Wiimote in the Nerf gun grip and it becomes a game controller, or load it with a Nerf blaster module to fire foam darts at your friends.

The Nerf N-Strike games and the blaster are scheduled to ship in Fall 2008. There should be more details from Hasbro at next week’s Toy Fair in New York. Here’s an idea, maybe they can shove a Wiimote in a Nerf football and have it communicate with the Wii.

MP3 player looks & acts like a cassette

MP3 player looks & acts like a cassette
This Cassette looks like it could have come straight out of the 80′s, but it’s also an MP3 Player. It can be used as a stand alone MP3 player with headphones, or inserted into any cassette deck and played that way. It plays the music directly from the SD card that you put in it, so you can’t reverse/skip/etc. when the tape is playing. Pointless, but neat.

Of course if you want different tunes, just load another SD card in it. It will cost you $22 from Chinavasion, and some valuable dignity as you go back to using an old cassette deck. With this kind of backwards thinking, Chinavasion will have an iPod in an old 8-Track tape in no time.

Camy Light Sword Wiimote Holsters For Jedi Action

Camy Light Sword Wiimote Holsters
Would be Jedis of the Wii variety now have another weapon at their disposal. Camy’s Pro Gear Wii Light Swords are similar to this lightsaber attachment we told you about in November, but with a strange off center saber.

They are colored plastic Wiimote holders available in three “ultra bright” colors. If you wish to instill not fear but laughter, you can flip a switch and light up the night sky with your dorky laser blade. The swords are slated for a May/June release, with no word on price just yet. You can always just settle for having a light saber lamp nearby too.

Metallic Nintendo Wii Machine Gun

Nintendo Wii Machine Gun
Another day, another Wii accessory. In fact, I am now making it a point to chronicle every Wii thing available for your enjoyment. If the Shark gun didn’t sink it’s teeth into your wallet, and the 8 in 1 Wii weapon kit didn’t give you enough weapons for in-game maximum Carnage, maybe this metallic Wii Machine gun is more up your alley.

It will transform your Wiimote and Nunchuk into a silver machine gun, detailed in black. The Wii Machine Gun measures 11.81 x 4.96 x 1.65 inches, weighs 10.86 oz and is available from DealExtreme for $16.54.

Rock Band Stage Kit adds smoke & lights
The Rock Band Stage Kit will add more authenticity to your dreams of becoming a real life rock star. The peripheral kit was spotted on GameStop’s website, retailing for $99.99. Not many other details are known, but it will include an interactive light and smoke show.

If rocking on a fake plastic guitar still manages to satisfy your rock and roll dreams, just imagine how fancy smoke and lights will raise you to the next level of your somewhat less then Rock-God performances.

The Seiko Discus: A new spin on the watch

A new spin on the watch

This stunningly good looking watch from Seiko Japan uses a series of spinning aluminum discs to display the time. And unlike many of the newer watches coming out of Japan these days, this one makes it very easy to read the time. Three numbered discs continuously rotate to display hours, minutes and seconds.

The Discus is part of Seiko’s Moving Image series, a line of automatic timepieces with great contemporary style. This one is available in two versions: one with a stainless body and white face, and one with a black metal body and a smoked glass face. It’s amazing what they are doing with watches these days. Makes me wish I had 10 arms.

Gen-x console plays Sega Genesis & NES games

Gen-x console plays Sega Genesis & NES

You can get your old classics on Wii’s virtual console, but it just doesn’t compare to being able to pop in that cartridge and play. Like a good book, sometimes you want to feel that cartridge in your hand, or see it in your collection. The Gen-x is a new hybrid console that lets you play the best of the 8-bit and 16-bit video game generations, and has full compatibility with both the Nintendo Entertainment System and the SEGA Genesis games. What’s more, it’s even rumored that it will play every single NES cartridge with no compatibility issues whatsoever.

The system comes with everything you need to get playing, including controllers and A/V cables. Unfortunately, you can’t connect an original NES controller. Not sure what the hell they were thinking there, but the ports are compatible with SEGA’s original controllers at least. The console’s list price is $59.99, but can be found in stock at VideoGameAction for only $36.89.
