iGo Arctic Laptop Cooling Pad

Posted in Notebooks by Conner Flynn on March 15th, 2011

If your laptop is known to overheat, then you better get a laptop cooler, before it melts down. But the problem with coolers is that every laptop gets hot in different places, and not every cooler will work for the same laptop.

The iGo Arctic Laptop Cooling Pad should do the trick. It houses a movable fan so you can make sure the right spot gets cooled, making it more effective. It is powered by a removable USB cable that can be stored inside the cooler itself when not in use, and it features an ergonomic design to make using it more pleasant. You can pre-order it now for $29.99 and it ships out on March 22.

Most speaker docks are sized for use in the home or office instead of on the go. So, EFO has announced a new speaker dock sized for portability. It even has a rechargeable battery inside. EFO’s Rechargeable Mini Loud-speaker is priced just right too, at just $22.

The lithium battery can power the speaker dock and charge your iPod, while the aluminum vibration film loud speaker is designed for sound quality. The internal battery is charged via USB and it also features a memory card slot and a USB port for playing music directly for removable media.

Quirky has some cool products that we have talked about before. One of my favorites was the Switch knife that surfaced a while back. The latest offering from Quirky is the Trek Support backpack. The thing is designed to hold your gadgets and notebook and can help keep them charged up too.

The backpack has a removable battery inside that promises 7 hours of power depending on what you hook to it. The battery pack has four pockets and has enough outlets to charge three of those USB gadgets at the same time.

Creative has been around for a long time and I first knew them as the company that made sound cards for gaming PCs and other computers. Today Creative has all sorts of gear from MP3 players to speakers and still makes those sound cards too.

Creative has announced a new speaker for outdoor use called the Sound Blaster Wireless Rock. The speaker is one of those outside jobs that looks like a granite stone sitting there. It gets power from a lithium ion battery pack that is removable for charging.

Pictures and a video of the upcoming Android-powered Dell Thunder tablet have surfaced, giving us some hints of what is to come from the device. According to the leak, the device features an 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash, 720p video recording capabilities, and a removable 1,400mAh battery.

The device pictured is running the vanilla Android 2.1, but it will likely offer a custom skin from Dell when it’s released. The screen resolution of the 4.1-inch display is most likely 800 x 480 pixels and an OLED panel.

Towel with built-in speakers folds into a backpack

Posted in Outdoors by Conner Flynn on June 27th, 2010

Your beach towel can’t do that. It sports amplified speakers that are positioned right next to your ears and I’m sure everyone around you will enjoy your music. When you are all done and have soaked up enough sun and tunes, just fold it up into a backpack.

Yes, you can wash it thanks to those speakers being removable. Not sure I would want to spend $72 on a beach towel though. The speakers are powered by a lithium battery that you can also remove. As for blaring music on this thing, that beautiful model above can do whatever the hell she wants as long as I get to look.

New Xbox 360 is official at $299, ships today

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

Meet the new Xbox 360. It will launch today for $299. The old Elite will be $249 and the Arcade will drop to $149. The new console looks like a stealth Xbox in glossy black with touch-sensitive buttons. According to Microsoft it’s “whisper quiet,” with one large fan instead of two.

It has integrated 802.11n WiFi, five USB ports, and 250GB of storage on a removable hard drive, though it’s not the same drive as the old console, and older Memory Units won’t work, either. To upgrade you can use a USB-to-Xbox hard drive connector cable to migrate to the new box. What do you think?

Tesla unveils Model S electric family car

Posted in Automotive by Shane McGlaun on March 27th, 2009

teslamodels-sbElectric vehicles have a lot of appeal to many drivers. You can charge them from the AC outlet in your home and never have to hit the gas station again. Electric cars are also better for the environment than gasoline and diesel vehicles. The problem is that most electric vehicles lack the range many drivers need in a car.

Tesla, famous for its Tesla Roadster, announced a new electric vehicle called the Model S. Unlike the two-seat Roadster, the Model S is a seven passenger electric vehicle that promises to take all passengers up to 300 miles per charge.
