iriver P8 player shows up on Russian site

iriver has not updated its P series of large-screen portable media players in quite some time, so you are likely as surprised as we are that this five-incher has shown up on the company’s Russian site. With a battery life of up to nine hours of video and 40 hours of audio to boot.

The P8 comes in 8GB and 16GB sizes, sports a microSD slot, and an HDMI port for pushing HD content to a TV. We have no idea if it will ever land on American shores or how much it will cost when it does, but we like what we see.

These Android MP3 speakers may look like the real deal, but they appear to have “gotge” written on them, not Google. We don’t even care. They are still adorable.

Each one has a small full-range driver built into the bottom, and they also have colorful LEDs around the neck that light up when the music is playing. Pushing the droid’s head starts and stops the music, and turning it left or right adjusts the volume.

It’s been a while since Creative unveiled a new PMP. And now Creative has announced the new ZEN M300 portable music player. The device features a micro-SD slot and FM radio with Bluetooth support.

The M300 looks pretty stylish and is available in red, black, yellow and white. It comes in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities, with a 1.45″ screen and it measures 55 x 44 x 12 mm with feather touch buttons. Looks like a great way to carry your music with you.

If you are drooling over the new Samsung Galaxy S WiFi PMP, we now have the specifications on these two new media players in the Galaxy S line. The two models are the Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 and the Galaxy S WiFi 4.0.

The Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 has a 5 inch WVGA TFT LCD display, a 1GHz processor, plus a 5.0 megapixel camera with an LED flash, and a VGA camera on the front for your video chat needs. There’s also FM Radio, a voice recorder, an accelerometer, GPS, a digital compass and 802.11 b/g/n Wifi, plus Bluetooth 3.0.

iRiver U100 media player

iRiver’s next generation portable media players has been unveiled. Made for the Korean market, the U100 features a 3.1-inch, 320×480 touch screen, and built-in memory from 4GB, 8GB and 16GB sizes. The device comes in a several colors, including black, green, pink, black with pink accents and black with green accents.

Other features include Wi-Fi, a microSDHC slot, an FM Tuner and broad file format support for audio, photos and video. It also supports playing 720p video, though as you might expect, the display limits the output. It is sure to be trendy in Korea.

Speakal introduces Windows 7 office phone

We’ve seen desk phones powered by Android, but this is probably the first we’ve seen that is powered by Microsoft’s Windows 7. Speakal is showing the device off at CES and it is dubbed the BTS8. The operating system allows users to manage and record phone calls, answer emails and even video chat thanks to the integrated webcam and Skype.

It also features a web browser, it can receive faxes, SMS text messaging, media player, contact management, calendar and VGA output. The company’s CEO says you can save up to 90% of the power regularly used by a desktop computer.

Zune 4.7 launched with Windows Phone 7 support

Along with all of the Windows Phone 7 announcements yesterday, Microsoft also released its latest version of the Zune media player and sync software, Zune 4.7. The big improvement in Zune 4.7 will be support for Windows Phone 7 devices while keeping support for the Zune HD and other Zune hardware.

HD video streaming is also part of the update and users will have access to things like Zune Pass Music, TV shows, movies, trailers, and podcasts. Zune services will be included as part of Windows Phone 7 devices that can be accessed through the Music+Video hub and it will be able to sync contact data and other non-media info.

Philips’ GoGear Connect PMP now for sale overseas

First spotted back in February, Philips’ newest GoGear Connect is foregoing the proprietary OS in favor of Android. The product listing shows that the 3.2-inch media player features Android 2.1, 16GB of internal storage space, a battery good for 5 hours of video playback (and 25 hours of audio), FM radio tuner, a touchpanel and a microSD expansion slot.

Interestingly enough, GPS is also thrown in, as well as headphones. It’s listed for €264.99 (that’s $340). No word yet on international release.

Letcool handheld console emulator

The Letcool handheld emulator sort of looks like a Nintendo DS Lite with no top display. Must have been hard to design this one. This odd handheld can handle GBA, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis and Game Boy ROMs, and future updates will also include additional support for others.

The Letcool can also double as a portable media player, playing nice with 8 different audio formats and 10 video formats. Despite the name, you don’t need to let it cool. We think. Some other features include TV-out, 4GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, a digital camera and a battery life of 6 hours. Only $70.

This phone looks pretty good-looking considering that it’s made from 19% recycled plastic. 87% of the phone can be recycled when it’s life is over. Keeping with the green theme, it also uses a low energy charger. Some other features include a 1.3 megapixel camera, a media player, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth, a speakerphone, QWERTY keypad and a slider form factor.

Microsoft cuts Zune HD prices to fight competition

Over the past few days Microsoft has silently cut prices on the Zune HD through an at least temporary promo. Microsoft’s media player now costs $190 for a 16GB model at Amazon. That’s $32 less than the original price. The 32GB model has also dropped to $250.

Microsoft’s very own store has dropped its prices as well, to $200 for a 16GB Zune HD and $270 for a 32GB edition. It’s looking like a great time to buy a Zune. Walmart and some other retailers are also closely matching those prices on Amazon.

Zune HD Twitter app arrives tomorrowSoon you’ll be tweeting and retweeting in glorious HD thanks to Microsoft, who is planning to release a Twitter app for the Zune HD personal media player. The free app will be available tomorrow morning at 9 AM sharp, downloadable via the Zune software on a PC or over a wireless connection.

So at 9 AM you can expect a million tweets of “Got my Zune HD Twitter App…” which will lead to the fail whale, casting darkness over the land of tweet.

Mid-range Samsung clamshell unveiledSamsung has unveiled another clamshell model series that will surely get attention. We’re talking about the SCH-W830 for SK Telecom and SPH-W8350 for LG Telecom. The round external display is a real eye-catcher and looks awesomely retro and futuristic at once. And it measures just 13.4mm thin.

The phone also includes a button dedicated to opening the phone so you won’t break a sweat with such chores. Some other specs include a 2.6″ QVGA display, 2-megapixel camera, integrated media player, subway system maps, Bluetooth, microSD memory card slot and an SOS function.

iPod Touch with Camera and Microphone coming?According to a source at Wired, Apple’s Chinese contractors are already hard at work cranking out iPod touch units with cameras and microphones. If true, it would turn the smart media player almost into an iPhone.

According to their source, these new iPods will go on sale in “two to three months.” Could Apple eventually gain carrier independence with a 100% VoIP solution? Things could get very interesting starting in “two to three months.”
