Commodore C64 remake shipping next week

Commodore has announced that it is almost finished with its first wave of production for the remake of the C64. The now dual-core Atom PC will ship next week. A Barebones version is $250, while a complete Basic version starts at $595 with a 1.8GHz Atom, NVIDIA Ion graphics, 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and no optical drive.

For the serious buyer, the $895 ultimate model has a Blu-ray drive, 4GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive and Wi-Fi. Each model has multi-format card reading and modern video out and expansion. Ubuntu Linux 10.10 as well. Not long after launch you can get a copy of Commodore OS which mimics the original C64′s environment and software support.

SanDisk Unveils New SSD U100 And iSSD i100 Storage

SanDisk, at Computex 2011, has unveiled some new storage devices: the SSD U100 And iSSD i100. The SanDisk i100 is the world’s smallest and fastest 128GB SATA III BGA-based SSD and is designed for use in ultra thin notebooks and tablet devices.

SanDisk U100 SSD and i100 iSSD’s unique architecture allows OEMs to manage the power consumption with their devices while providing increased storage and performance. The SanDisk i100 has 128GB of storage and is capable of up to 450MB/s sequential read speed and up to 160GB/s sequential write speeds.

Special edition Tales of Xillia PS3 bundle coming to Japan

Japanese PS3 buyers have another special-edition console to buy. The “Tales of Xillia X Edition” PS3 system is a Charcoal Black PS3 color with metallic red and gold artwork that shows the characters Jude and Milla, along with the PS3 logo of course. It looks pretty awesome.

The 160GB system will hit Japan on September 8, bundled with a copy of Tales of Xillia for ¥37,980 (or $470). Don’t expect to find this one in American though. However you could always import it if you want one.

Sony 160GB PlayStation 3 bundle with Call of Duty: Black Ops

Let’s face it, Sony needs all the help it can get right now, with all of the hacks it has been suffering. That’s probably why Sony is teasing this limited edition PS3 bundle that gets you Call of Duty: Black Ops with a 160GB console.

The price is $299 and Sony’s also throwing in the First Strike content pack. It will be available next week, starting on May 31. If you are just getting a PS3 this is the one to get. This game will have you playing for months.

Amazon UK prices upcoming Lenovo ThinkPad X1 at $2,120

Amazon UK has listed the upcoming 13-inch Lenovo Thinkpad X1 at the equivalent of $2,120. This Macbook Air competitor is set to arrive in the UK on May 20. It may be priced higher than an equivalent Macbook Air, but it packs in a current generation 2.5GHz Core i5-2520M and includes 4GB of Ram and 320GB of hard disk space.

As for thinness, the notebook is just 0.85-inches thin at it’s thinnest point and you can have the hard drive swapped for a 160GB SSD if you want, and it can accept an 8GB of ram in a single slot. There’s also a USB 3.0 port, an eSATA port and an SDXC slot. Battery life is 8 hours. Other features include a Gorilla Glass scratch resistant screen and a backlit keyboard.

Onkyo To Release Two Windows 7 Tablets In Japan

Onkyo has announced that they are ready to launch a pair of new business-minded Windows 7 tablets in Japan next month. There’s the 11.6-inch 1366 x 728 TW317A7PH and the 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 TW117A7PH. Both come packing in a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 CPU, 2GB of RAM, WI-Fi, Bluetooth and the Microsoft Windows 7 Business OS.

The 11.6-inch model boasts 32GB of hard disk drive, while the 10.1-inch model has a 160GB hard disk drive. No word on pricing just yet, but when we hear more we will let you know.

Commodore USA C64 up for pre-sale

I remember typing away on the Commodore 64 all those years ago. If you have fond memories as well, Commodore USA has a new Commodore 64 prototype. The basic version is $595 with an 1.8GHz dual-core Intel Atom D525 chip, NVIDIA ION 2 graphics, 2GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive.

Delivery is scheduled for “early June” and you can add features like an additional 2GB of memory, a Blu-Ray drive, up to 1TB of storage, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth. Who would have thought that we would be using a C64 in 2011?

HP intros TouchSmart 610 and 9300 all-in-one PCs

Hp’s TouchSmart 610 and 9300 Elite Business PCs feature displays that can recline up to 60 degrees, making sure that the surface is easier to use. The 23-inch displays feature a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and the TouchSmart 610 also has a TouchSmart software layer, for finger-friendly Hulu, Netflix and Twitter apps.

The 610 has Intel and AMD desktop processor options, up to 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, Blu-ray drive, 1.3-megapixel camera and Beats Audio speakers. The 9300 has Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge processors, a 160GB SSD option, 2-megapixel camera and facial recognition software. The 610 will cost $900 and be available on February 9th, while the 9300 will arrive in May for an unknown price.

Silver Satin PS3 hits Japan on March 10th

Most of us have a plain old black PS3. If you’re lucky you have a white version or a titanium blue. This PS3 is a sexy silver satin and is bound to hit Japan on March 10th.

As usual, you get the same specs, with the 160GB model CECH-2500A SS selling for ¥29,980 (about $366) while the 320GB CECH-2500B SS is ¥34,980 (about $427). It even has a matching vertical stand for ¥2,000 (about $24) if you like your PS3 vertical.

Fluid Stream 10-inch Windows 7 Tablet now available?

Remember that Fluid tablet that was supposed to arrive before Christmas? Well, it is here as promised. Sort of. Amazon started selling the Fluid Stream 10-inch Windows 7 tablet, but now it is just as quickly listed as out of stock.

The device packs a multi-touch display with a 1024×600 pixel resolution, a 1.66 Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and an HDMI output.

Best Buy throws in free PS3 with TVs

Looks like now is a good time to buy a new TV if you also need a PS3. Best Buy has just announced some post-holiday deals that are valid until December 11. In the Sony PS3 bundle deals there are several discounts when a Sony TV is paired with a PS3, including a 46-inch LED-lit LCD with a 160GB PlayStation 3 for $1,300, which saves you $1,380. Not bad right?

A 3D-ready 46-inch LED TV with a PS3 will cost you $1,700, a savings of about $1,180. How about a 55-inch 3D-ready LED HDTV and the same PS3 for $2,200?

We’ve seen magazine companies bundle content with hard drive purchases in the past. Remember the National Geographic external hard drive? Well now we have a bundle that’s a little more adult oriented.

The Playboy $300 250GB hard drive contains every single issue of the magazine dating back to 1953. That’s a lot of boobs and airbrushing for sure. $300 is expensive for a hard drive, sure, but you’re really paying for the boobs.

GameStop’s Black Friday ad has leaked out early and as usual, there are some deals if you’re buying a new console. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo’s systems all come with games included, and they’re not bad games.

Some of the deals include: Buy any two used games or accessories, get one used game or accessory of equal or lesser value free. 4GB Xbox 360 console bundle ($199) — includes a free copy of Madden 11 or Medal of Honor. LaCie FastKey USB 3.0 SSD Drive

LaCie has introduced the FastKey, the company’s smallest SSD USB 3.0 drive. The device combines three technologies in one: SSD, USB 3.0 and DRAM cache. This helps it to deliver speeds of up to 260MB/s, so you can transfer 1000 MP3 or 5 DIVX files in less than 60 seconds flat.
