Panasonic introduces the world lightest 3D Glasses

Posted in Panasonic by Reuben Drake on July 28th, 2011

To 3D or not to 3D. That is the question still facing many of you. Well, at least the nerd glasses are getting lighter. The new TY-EW3D Series from Panasonic claim to be the world lightest 3D glasses available with just 26g in total in its S and M version while the L Version with its 27g seems to be as “heavy” as other models on the market.

These new glasses also come with a new battery offering you up to 3 hours worth of 3D just after 2 minutes of charge or a total of 25 hours of 3D if fully charged for 30 minutes.

Photos claim to show Apple’s lighter, cheaper iPhone 4 prototype

Posted in iPhone by Reuben Drake on July 28th, 2011

Looks like there has been some potential photo leaks of what is claimed to be the prototype device of a cheaper and lighter iPhone 4. This would replace the iPhone 3GS as Apple’s entry level iPhone. Yes, it looks just like an iPhone 4, except for the identification numbers on the back being X’d out, which could indicate that it is a prototype device.

The source of the leak admitted that it would be hard to convince people that this is the real deal since it looks so similar to the iPhone 4.

Zippo lighter with a built-in gun inside

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on July 25th, 2011

If you light your smoke with this Zippo you are likely to get a mini bullet in the face. This Zippo is packing a miniature gun inside that actually fires. Those copper-cased 6mm cartridges will be fired out of a barrel, in place of the usual wick.

Just roll the flint striking wheel and it acts as the trigger. Too bad this isn’t an official Zippo product, then again, if it was, there would be a lot of smokers shooting themselves in the face.

Logitech G400 optical gaming mouse available for pre-order

Posted in Mouse by Conner Flynn on June 13th, 2011

Logitech’s MX518 optical gaming mouse has been around for awhile, and it is finally getting an upgrade as the new G400. The outside design hasn’t changed much. It’s grey in color and has a cable that’s “thinner and twenty-five percent lighter.”

The new stuff is all on the inside. The optical sensor is two times as sensitive with a maximum 3,600 DPI resolution that maintains a tracking speed of 140 inches per second. If you drop $50 you can get a pre-order from Logitech in the US and it will be available on June 19th.

Spider Holsters Let You Carry Multiple Cameras

Posted in Cameras by Reuben Drake on June 10th, 2011

Spider Holsters allow you to carry your SLR somewhere other than your neck. Now they’ve expanded their line into a new dual camera system, so you can strap two cameras around yourself. The DualCam system will cost $235 for a complete kit to attach two SLRs.

Great for those who prefer to carry a few cameras instead of multiple lenses. If you’re only carrying one camera, you can remove one of the pads, and travel a bit lighter. Spider also sells a conversion kit, for those who already have the single-camera edition. For $120, you get what you need to add a second pad to your existing holster.

Dolby announces lighter and more stylish 3D Glasses

Posted in 3D by Conner Flynn on March 21st, 2011

When you watch 3D movies in the theater, the glasses are heavy and uncomfortable. Dolby has a new solution and has just announced this newer and lighter pair of 3D glasses. They will also come with anti-theft measures and an RFID tag for inventory control purposes.

Theater owners will also be happy to know that the thinner lenses can be washed and reused hundreds of times. They are $12 each and are cheaper when purchased in bulk. Though they won’t improve the quality of a movie script or lower ticket prices.

New MacBook Pros may get SSD booting, large trackpads

Posted in MacBook by Reuben Drake on February 21st, 2011

Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro update could take some cues from the new MacBook Air. They wouldn’t use SSD-only storage but would get an 8GB or 16GB boot drive for the OS either way. This move would let the MacBook Pros get the quick boot and fast resume support of the Air without sacrificing anything in storage.

They may also be getting larger trackpads than the ones available today. They may also get lighter, by as much as half a pound on average, but we don’t know how this would be accomplished.

Verizon iPhone 4 gets a teardown

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on February 7th, 2011

As usual, the folks at iFixit have torn apart a new gadget. This time it is the Verizon iPhone 4. Of course they found the expected differences, but they also found that the phone has a slightly lighter battery than its counterpart, that the mechanical vibrator has been redesigned and moved from the top right corner to the bottom right of the phone and that the phone has a Qualcomm baseband chip.

The chip is a Qualcomm MDM660 chip that supports HSPA+ data rates up to 14.4 Mbps, and is the same chip used in the Droid Pro. So the chip technically supports both GSM and CDMA, although Apple has decided not to take advantage of that capability for whatever their reasons are.

FIRE concept watch is sure to be hot

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on January 27th, 2011

This concept watch is hot. The design is on fire. No really it’s named FIRE. It looks awesome and if it ever gets made for real it is sure to burn a hole in your wallet as well. The hour and minute hands are lit by LEDs that simulate torch-style cigarette lighters.

But sadly you can’t actually light a cigarette with it, still it is unique and we always love that. I guess a real lighter attached to your wrist is a bad idea anyway.

Samsung is making quite the fashion statement, together with glasses maker, Silhouette, with their new world’s lightest 3D designer shutter glasses. They weigh just 28g, 10g lighter than regular 3D glasses and they have been ergonomically developed so that one size fits all. The glasses can be easily adjusted allowing an adult or child to wear them. Of course they will make their debut at this year’s CES.

Some other features include auto on/off support, wireless charging and you can attach to your normal glasses.

Audiovox XM Snap

Posted in Satellite Radio by Conner Flynn on December 26th, 2010

Many of us would like satellite radio in our car, but we don’t want to spend a ton of money replacing the car’s current radio. It’s a common complaint. But now there is a simple solution. Audiovox has introduced the Audiovox XM Snap!.

It really is a snap too. Just set up the antenna in your car and plug the unit into your car’s cigarette lighter, tune onto the right station on your car’s radio and you’re done. The device sets up quickly and you can listen to SIRIUS XM Radio in less than 10 minutes time. We love it.

Haleron Windows 7 Tablet

Posted in Tablet PC by Conner Flynn on November 22nd, 2010

The new Haleron Windows 7 Tablet looks almost exactly like Apples iPad. The Haleron is a little lighter. But that’s where the similarities end. The Windows 7 tablet packs some serious power of it’s own, with an Intel Z550 Dual Threading 2GHZ processor in a US15W chipset together with a 16GB solid state disk.

The Haleron Windows 7 Tablet also supports 3D and hi-def hardware video acceleration and is equipped with VGA, DVI, HDMI out, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and four USB ports. It is also fitted with an accelerometer and a 0.3 mega pixel web camera. Not bad at all.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2 announced

Motorola DROID 2 first pictures

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on September 22nd, 2010

At first glance there doesn’t appear to be any difference between this thing and the Droid 2 that you can buy today, but the differences are subtle. The only obvious internal change is that it can be used globally. Droid Life claims that this is the Droid 2 World Edition.

It sports a pearly white back and a lighter chrome bezel in front. It might replace the original Droid 2 completely, but until we see some official information no one knows for sure. The OMAP3630 core is apparently clocked up to 1.2GHz. The plain old Droid 2 does 1GHz.

Efika MX Smartbook from Genesi available to purchase

Posted in Computers by Shane McGlaun on September 6th, 2010

I will say right up front that I never really saw the point of smartbooks. They are the same basic size as a netbook, though they are a pound or so lighter. The big downside in my mind has always been the performance of a smartbook.

Inside the smartbooks netbook looking shell hides hardware with more in common with a smartphone. If you like the smartbook promise a new machine from Genesi has landed called the Efika MX Smartbook. The machine can be purchased now for $349.
