LG Home Theater Combo awaits your iPod LG is making it easy for iPod owners to get into home theater with the LG HB954TBW Blu-ray 5.1 Home Theater Combo that features a unique slide-out iPod dock. It will accept all iPods, but we aren’t sure if it spits iPhones out or not.

We just think that pop out iPod tray is cool and keeps it all tucked away when not in use. It was introduced at CES 2009 and the system is selling in Korea and includes 5.1 speakers, amplification and a Blu-ray player. It will cost about a grand, which isn’t bad at all.

Calgary to be Motorola’s first Android phone

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on April 29th, 2009

Calgary to be Motorola’s first Android phoneMotorola’s Calgary really looks awesome and makes you take notice. And it’s on Verizon. According to BGR, the QWERTY slider will be focused on social networking much like the new Sidekick. The only thing we’re unsure about is that flat keyboard. Will it be finger friendly or not?

It looks absolutely sexy. Moto could really have a hit on their hands, with this well-designed Android phone. No word yet as to whether this is slated for Q2 or not.

Posted in LG by Conner Flynn on April 23rd, 2009

LG Versa game pad now availableThe LG Versa’s QWERTY module is great and everything, but if you’re ready for some games, you may be ready for the snap-on game pad, which is now available. Unlike the QWERTY, the game pad module slides along the back of the phone’s body for storage, not requiring the brown wallet.

You’ll get an 8-way directional pad, four dedicated gaming buttons, and some sore fingers if you don’t take a break now and then. It will cost you $29.99.

LG: 20 million QWERTY phones sold worldwideLG is proudly announcing that they have successfully made a lot of money off 20 million QWERTY cell phones around the globe. We don’t have any other breakdown on the data, like how many candybar, clamshell or slider form factors sold the most.

The most successful QWERTY devices include the enV series that sold over 8 million units in North America alone along with the Rumor series that sold 6 million units in North America. It’s quite a milestone for LG. You might say that the QWERTY bird gets the worm.

Fugly sweaters make your laptop look like Bill Cosby

Fugly sweaters make your laptop look like Bill CosbyI personally can’t imagine wrapping any laptop in something this fugly. But maybe the Cos is making a comeback or something. These are one size fits all and will cost you $20 each. That way, you and your little dog and your laptop can all wear the same sweater.

Here’s an idea. If you feel the need to dress up your laptop in a shirt, why not take one of your own(Hopefully much cooler) and slide it on. The cost? Zero.

Acer Hornet NVIDIA Ion nettop leaks

Posted in Acer by Conner Flynn on February 26th, 2009

Acer Hornet NVIDIA Ion nettop leaksSome leaked Acer slides suggest the company is planning a high-end nettop device with NVIDIA’s Ion graphics chipset. The Acer Hornet is a compact computer with either a dual or single-core Intel Atom processor, together with the 1080p-capable Ion, and be optionally VESA mounted on the back of a monitor.

We don’t have full specifications for the Acer Hornet, but we do know it has an HDMI output and a Wiimote-style motion-sensitive remote that can be used for gaming and and general control. The slides also suggest that the Hornet is “silent” while operating.

LG GD900 transparent phone

Posted in LG by Conner Flynn on February 16th, 2009

LG GD900 transparent phoneThe LG GD900 has just been unveiled, and the transparent keypad phone is a real looker. It’s definitely a first. The phone is just 13mm thick and features a slide out keypad that’s see through, knocking the iPhone dead as far as cool looks. It may be crystal clear, but the LG GD900 keypad will still glow if you are in the dark.

There aren’t many details about what’s going on inside other than HSDPA, but it’s due out Q2 this year. We do know that there’s a second camera on the front for video calls, and we’re guessing it’s also a music phone, with a proper headphone jack and may have Dolby Mobile inside.

A skinny phone concept for tight jeansIs that a cell phone in your pocket or are you just a mutant and very happy to see me? Your jeans can get pretty tight, which means that the bulge of your cellphone sticks out quite a bit. If you can even get your phone in your jeans. Designer David Turpin of France has come up with this Skinny Phone concept that should help.

It slides sideways to reveal a QWERTY keypad, but other then that we don’t have any detailed specs. It’s just a slim dream at the moment for all of you who have to grease yourselves up to get your pants on. Even if it existed, battery life would leave a lot to be desired.

Android Virtual Keyboard coming next year

Posted in Android by Conner Flynn on October 23rd, 2008

Android Virtual Keyboard coming next yearWhile people love the G1 and it has an excellent keyboard…and it’s only been available for about a day, many users are already complaining that they cannot type in landscape mode.

Never fear, according to the Android development roadmap, we’ll be getting a touchscreen keyboard in Q1 2009 that features “a dictionary of suggestions and a suggestion algorithm.” So it will basically work like the iPhone keyboard. Great news as many find it annoying, having to slide open the G1 every time they want to enter some data.
