A recently revealed Lenovo user manual pretty much confirms an updated S10-2 netbook. We don’t have complete specs, but it looks like more than a minor update, as the netbook appears to have a different hinge rounded edges, an extra USB port, a larger trackpad, and a revised keyboard layout.

There are also some new access bays for RAM, hard drive, and wireless card. But sadly, Lenovo has removed the ExpressCard slot. Consider that a trade-off for the built-in 3G. Nothing on pricing or availability yet, but we expect them to make it official any day now.

With the poor global economy, it’s no surprise that computer sales are slipping around the globe. The only segment of the computer industry that is actually growing robustly is the netbook category as consumers look to lower cost devices.

Gartner Research announced its global PC shipment numbers for Q1 2009 today and HP sits at the top of the list. HP shipped 19.8% of the all PCs shipped globally. Total global PC shipments for the quarter were 67.2 million units.

Lenovo and Acer are putting both feet into the all-in-one PC market, not just dipping their toes in. Lenovo wants to release its 20″ C100 entry level unit next month followed by the C100 and Quad Core B500 in August as well as the slim A300 a few months after that.

Acer wants some of that sweet market too, so they will be releasing an 18.5″ model by Wistron. Whenever they arrive, look for them to be under $888. At least that’s what they’re shooting for.

Kensington has a new Power Adapter designed specially for Netbooks. The adapter is compatible with brands like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, LG, Lenovo, MSI and Samsung netbooks, so all of the big names are covered.

But the most interesting thing about it is that it also features a USB port for powering up your cell phone or MP3 player. Don’t worry, the adapter features over-current protection, short-circuit protection, and over-temperature protection. Pretty nifty gadget to have with you while traveling.

Lenovo is going to launch a new portable media player, the MRT800. The PMP has a 4.3-inch 480×272 LCD touchscreen display. It supports RM/RMVB, AVI, ASF, MP4, FLV video; MP3, WMA, OGG, APE, FLAC, WAV audio as well as JPEG, BMP images.

Other than internal memory, the Lenovo MRT800 also features a microSD card slot and includes an FM tuner and voice recording function. It looks nice, but there’s not much else going on with the device.

In previous reports from Greenpeace, HP, Lenovo, and Dell haven’t done very badly, but the trio has failed to meet Greenpeaces expectations this time. They made promises they could not keep. All three had promised to eliminate PVC and brominated flame retardants in their products by the end of this year, but now they will apparently not be able to meet that deadline.

The only one to offer up a new deadline is Lenovo, who says they will now do it by the end of 2010. On the other end of the spectrum, Philips has jumped from 15th place to 4th, largely due to new recycling initiatives.

Lenovo should have a hit on it’s hands with the IdeaCentre A600, and if you’ve been waiting for it since we took a look at it when it was at CES, your wait is almost over.

You can order your choice of three versions of machine, with base prices at $699.99, $799.99 and $999.99. Shipping is in just a few weeks. To refresh your memory, the IdeaCentre A600 features a design that allows the display to appear thinner than it’s all-in-one competitors. The keyboard features a touchpad and it comes with Lenovo’s Motion Drive Remote that can also be used as a VOIP handset.

Lenovo has re-skinned the Android OS and thrown away Google’s hand-crafted interface in favor of a more familiar look and feel. It has a suspiciously similar name and a sleek design with a single ‘Home’ button. The only real difference is the large search area at the top, a feature that some might even like for the iPhone, at least until Spotlight comes along in iPhone OS 3.0.

What’s interesting is that this illustrates just how modifiable the Android OS can be. We doubt this will sway iPhone owners to make a switch, but you never know. The Lenovo OPhone was always going to have a touch of the iPhone about it, but this may be overkill. Just how do they expect to respond to Apple’s legal department?

Lenovo unveiled its new mobile phone, named the X1. The X1 is a 3.2-inch WQVGA display, slide-out phone which uses Tri-Band and EDGE networks. Some other features are built-in GPS and a MicroSD slot for memory expansion.

As far as dimensions, the phone is a close match for the iPhone. The new X1 has a sleek look with a feather touch interface on the front panel and smooth edges. It’s a shame this phone will only be available in China for the moment.

That Lenovo netbook we showed you this morning? Sadly, not a real product.

Apparently it’s a concept that is at least two years old. Following the earlier leak, the company decided to show more formal shots. Ah, who needs a pocket Lenovo anyway, when all of their other offerings look just as polished and svelt?

Remember that weird Lenovo netbook thing that resembles the Vaio P? Well Lenovo has confirmed the existence of its mystery netbook by posting teaser images on its photo feed. It’s now called the Pocket Yoga and has both the ultra-wide, VAIO P-like display and a leather-bound shell.

Concept sketches show the PC not only supporting a touchscreen for a stylus but a convertible design that would let the display flip backwards to use it as a very small tablet too. We still don’t have any specifications, though its size would suggest an Intel Atom or similar chip. It probbly has a built-in webcam and a trackpoint-like controller to back up the touch display.

It looks like Sony’s Vaio P will have some competition very soon if this prototype from Lenovo pans out. It looks an awful lot like the Vaio P. Although it looks much longer.

We don’t know much about the specs, but obviously a full keyboard and some form of leather case. Looks like there’s a pointing device in the upper right of the keyboard. We are hoping that Lenovo puts an affordable price on this so it can compete.

Aside from Lenovo’s W700ds ThinkPad, and maybe one or two other offerings, frankly, most things branded Lenovo aren’t all that exciting. That includes Lenovo’s ThinkCentre line, which is understandable as they’re not aimed at gamers

What they’ve done here is shrink the size of towers. The ThinkCentre A58 and M58e feature Intel Core 2 Duo / Core 2 Quad CPUs, onboard graphics, up to 1TB of HDD space, 4GB of RAM and up, and optional Blu-ray drives.

Lenovo does more then just laptops with an extra screen. In fact, they’ve just introduced a couple of handsets dubbed the i60 and i60s. The i60 will sport a 3″ display, while the i60s offers a smaller display and uses the additional space for more buttons. To support that larger screen, the i60 has a 1250mAh battery.

Some other features include: Dual-band (900/1800 MHz) GSM radio, Integrated media player, Built-in FM radio, microSDHC memory card slot, WQVGA resolution at 240 x 400 pixels. Apart from that, we don’t have many other details. Both handsets look like they will see a China release.

There are many environments where a computer is needed where the conditions are too harsh for the average notebook to survive and operate. In these environment users have to resort to semi-rugged or full rugged computers.

Lenovo has announced that it has certified several of its standard laptop computers including the ThinkPad X200, X301, X200s, X200 Tablet, T400, T500, R400, and SL300 models to meet military semi-rugged specifications. The computer maker also announced a new optional high brightness LCD with 680-nits for daylight use on these systems.
