G-Shock Gets New Design from Dee & Ricky

Posted in Watches by Darrin Olson on June 13th, 2010

G-Shock Watch designed by Dee & RickyWe’ve seen our share of G-Shock watches come down the pipe but never one designed quite like this. The new GA110DR-1A from G-Shock gets its primary-colored Lego design from New York fashion designers Dee & Ricky.

Although the watch has a toy-esque look to it, it still holds true to the G-Shock name with durable features including magnetic resistance, 200M water resistance, LED light, the ability to track time in 48 different cities, alarm, calendar and more.

Scare Trick-or-Treaters with a Rovin’ Pumpkin this Halloween

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on October 9th, 2009

Scare Trick-or-Treaters with a Rovin' Pumpkin this HalloweenSure, you could always pump out the sound effects, buy some crappy paper monster decorations and put out a bucket of dry ice, but that stuff isn’t scaring anyone these days. You know what’s scary? Moving pumpkins, that’s what.

I see a pumpkin moving on it’s own and I’m out of there, candy or no candy. The Rovin’ Pumpkin uses Lego and a motor to get around, and anyone standing on your porch will be scared when it starts coming toward them.

Modi Sofa is configurable

Posted in Furniture by Conner Flynn on August 23rd, 2009

Modi Sofa is configurableAccording to my wife good furniture that fits your unique style and taste is hard to find. The Italian designed Modi Sofa may make things easier. Sort of like Lego, it allows for nearly infinite customization, using modules which you insert in the base to form different shapes and styles of sofas.

There are flat modules, back or arm rest modules, corner pieces, etc. They all fit neatly into the grid base. Finally, you can make your sofa how you want it. They even have a glass top to make an end table or coffee table if you like. Pretty neat. All furniture should be modular.

megablokshaloI played with lots of Lego’s when I was a kid and my mom hated it. I always left the parts around where she would suck them up with the vacuum. I also got into more than one fight with my brother or friends over who got that last set of Lego wheels. You may have heard about the Lego alternative called Mega Bloks.

The company that makes Mega Bloks offers a line of Halo kits for fans of the games. The company is signing fans up to receive limited edition Halo Wars figures given away first come first serve. There will be 9,900 UNSC Steel Spartan figures given out.

Steam powered iPod charger

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on April 12th, 2009

Steam powered iPod chargerOne day after the robots have had their way with us and the zombies have attacked, you’ll be glad you have your trusty steam powered iPod charger. How else are you going to listen to your tunes, with civilization as you know it destroyed?

The creator attached a Lego Technic Motor to a Jensen #75 steam engine to make this crude generator. Then he built a 5V regulator circuit and soldered in a female USB connection to power any USB device. The end result is a steam powered iPod charger. What does this mean? This guy will be chilling with tunes while you are fending off zombies who want some brain food.

Lightware LED Silverware

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on February 5th, 2009

LED SilverwarePerfect for those romantic candelit dinners, it’s Lightware- the LED lit cutlery. This silverware features a silver head and an engraved crystal body, sure to add to the ambience of any darkly lit dining experience.

They have a small LED powered by a watch battery at the bottom. The electronic part can be removed for washing, because otherwise things would just get gross. Your fork will still stab, but now you will be able to see what you are stabbing. If these don’t impress your date, try the Lego cutlery. At least with those you can join her fork to yours and say something sappy.

Posted in Security by Conner Flynn on November 18th, 2008

Voice-Activated Biometric Safe is…safeWe sure got a ton of nerd rage regarding that Lego safe we posted last night. If you find the Lego safe to be not safe enough, maybe this safe is more up your alley. With the Voice-Activated Biometric Safe, you can be sure that your nerd-stuff (Like that valuable signed William Shatner album) stays safe and sound.

It will only open with a voice command! Once the proper sound waves of your voice are heard, the door will open automatically. If someone tries and fails, the alarm will sound. Of course, someone will just record your voice and can probably get in that way. It’s only $24.99 and takes three AA batteries.

They dropped the price on all Xbox 360 SKU’s a few months ago, and it just got better. Microsoft has announced that later this month the new 360’s will hit store shelves with some free games included.

With the $199 Arcade, you’ll get 6 games, which includes SEGA Superstars Tennis, Uno, and Pac-Man. If you choose to spend more for either the $299 Pro or $399 Elite version, and you’ll get Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda. Plus, all three will come with a trial subscription to Netflix. That might seem odd, but beginning next month you’ll be able to stream Netflix movies to your 360.

Donkey Kong would love the USB Beer Barrel speaker

Posted in Speakers by Conner Flynn on August 11th, 2008

Donkey Kong would love the USB Beer Barrel speaker
If Donkey Kong were created today instead of hundreds of years ago, this is what Donkey Kong would throw at Mario. Since it’s a speaker, the Donkey Kong theme music could play right from the barrel as Mario jumps over it. But never mind the weird connections that my brain associates with certain gadgets.

This beer barrel thing is a portable speaker for your phone or laptop. For some reason. Very portable and a great accessory to bring with you when you travel, since it will fit in your suitcase easily. You can get it for $14.00 from Brando. If any Princess-napping apes are reading this, buy these and throw them at Mario. Because I’d really like to see that.
