We’ve seen Lego guns before, but this one is pretty special. It was inspired by the Micro Uzi and this LEGO weapon packs a punch. It can shoot dozens of rubber bands in just seconds.

Flip the switch and it can go from semi-automatic to fully-automatic. You’ll want to hit the link for a video of the uzi in action, where you will see that this is not your average wimpy rubber band gun. It can fire off rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger. The secret apparently is in the 8 x 1 LEGO beam that pivots around it’s center, for its firing action.

Those Lego-branded Digital Blue devices/toys we’ve been telling you about are starting to surface. This prototype of the video camera was spotted at a toy fair in Nuremberg.

There aren’t any other details at the moment, but it’s a bit disappointing as it looks a little too polished and not handmade like the walkie talkie and digital camera we showed you. Oh well, you win some you lose some. It is a prototype, so who knows, it may go through some changes.

Alcatel and Lego teaming up to make a Lego handset? Earlier this year Lego and Digital Blue announced combined efforts that would yield a variety of Lego-electronics aimed at kids. The announcement included details on a digital camera, a walkie talkie and an MP3 player. The functional toys would fall into an affordable $20 - $60 price range.

Now Alcatel is apparently jumping into the mix and the trio is planning to get cell phones in the hands of children using Legos. This piece of Lego-electronics is rumored to be released by this summer along with the rest. Not sure yet if you’ll be able to connect a few of these Lego handsets together or not.

Perfect for those romantic candelit dinners, it’s Lightware- the LED lit cutlery. This silverware features a silver head and an engraved crystal body, sure to add to the ambience of any darkly lit dining experience.

They have a small LED powered by a watch battery at the bottom. The electronic part can be removed for washing, because otherwise things would just get gross. Your fork will still stab, but now you will be able to see what you are stabbing. If these don’t impress your date, try the Lego cutlery. At least with those you can join her fork to yours and say something sappy.

Lego is awesome, but the sets can be mighty expensive. Some of them will cost you a few hundred bucks. Sometimes it might be nice to actually see what the completed model looks like before you drop a huge wad of dough on it. Augmented reality to the rescue. Metaio, a Germany company has come up with a system that lets you hold the box in front of the screen, then shows you what that model will look like completed. If only we had had this when we were kids.

It’s the only one in existence at the moment, but if Lego is smart, you and I will be seeing these Digital Boxes in stores worldwide. It would really help sales. Plus, after a while they could update it and show you what other things you could build with that same kit.

Lego’s just announced that they will be teaming up with Digital Blue to bring out a line of digital cameras, PMPs, and walkie talkies for kids. Modders have been making gadgets out of Legos for awhile now, so I guess the company figured they would do the work for people. Kids at least.

The products feature the familiar “Lego” look, but they are not constructed out of actual bricks. We don’t have any specs yet, but these Lego gadgets are said to be arriving this summer, prices ranging from $19 - $60.

Our favorite droid gets a gadget makeover yet again. When is he ever going to get some respect? If he isn’t pulling aquarium duty, he’s keeping your stuff cold. And when he isn’t acting as your own personal fridge, he’s a drink server.

Well, now someone’s taken a Lego R2 and made him into a USB drive. Which is neat and all, but he still ain’t gettin no respect. Because when you plug the little guy into your usb port, he just looks like he got shot out of a cannon and got stuck in your laptop and should be flailing his legs. Such is the life of an overly merchandised droid.

Why are geeks drawn to Legos? They’re fun sure. You can create original stuff and recreate almost anything imaginable. It probably has something to do with why the pyramids were constructed in Egypt. Humans just need to create. And since the dawn of time geeks have been the most innovative and creative. Here’s a look at a bunch of random cool statues all done up in lego. We sure got a ton of nerd rage regarding that Lego safe we posted last night. If you find the Lego safe to be not safe enough, maybe this safe is more up your alley. With the Voice-Activated Biometric Safe, you can be sure that your nerd-stuff (Like that valuable signed William Shatner album) stays safe and sound.

You might think that a Lego safe would be easy to open. Maybe just remove a few bricks and you’re in. But that’s not the case with this thing, the cutting edge of Lego safe technology. The safe weighs 14 pounds and has a motion detecting alarm so it can’t be moved without creating a huge ruckus.

The lock takes five double digit codes to open it. That translates into over 305 billion different combinations. It even boasts an electronic status display showing the numbers as you turn the combination dials. When you enter the combination, the door electronically opens itself. Here’s an interesting way to kill an afternoon. Apparently a couple of guys hooked up two Wii Fit balance boards to LEGO Mindstorms…something, and made them move in sync with leaning and jumping motions. While I don’t think this game is going to get you fit, it’s a clever hack. Maybe Nintendo can change the Lego things into battle bots and market the whole deal as some sort of Ultimate robot fighter game for the those who don’t mind obesity all that much. Hacking Wii-Fit isn’t new, but this one puts a whole new spin on things.
