Samsung is not installing keylogger software on laptops

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on March 31st, 2011

Yesterday we reported that someone had found some keylogger software on some new Samsung laptops. We knew it didn’t make sense for a popular brand to take that kind of risk and as it turns out, it was all a misunderstanding.

The confusion apparently comes from the fact that the VIPRE security software mistakenly identified Microsoft’s Slovene language folder (“SL”) as Starlogger. Samsung managed to recreate it from an empty c:\windows\SL folder, Bottom line is that Samsung laptops are safe.

Standivarius Aero laptop stand sticks to the notebook

Posted in Computers by Shane McGlaun on July 23rd, 2010

All of the laptops stands I have seen over the years are basically the same. They lift the screen of your notebook up for more comfortable work and are separate from your notebook.

A company called Standivarius has announced a new laptop stand called the Aero that is not only much thinner than the average notebook stand, but also sticks to the bottom of the notebook so you always have it at hand. That means you can slip the notebook and the stand into your bag as one unit.

Wait. There’s more. There’s also a three-port powered USB hub on board so you can keep everything charged up. It can be had for under $60, but for the moment it’s only available on the company’s website and in Apple stores.

AViiQ shows off one very portable laptop stand

Posted in Accessories,Notebooks by Shane McGlaun on May 26th, 2010

If I have to work from my laptop or my netbook for any length of time, I almost always take a laptop stand with me. I hate looking down at the screen; it gives me a headache after a while. The catch is that most notebook stands are so bulky you can’t fit them into a notebook bag.

AViiQ has announced a new notebook stand simply called the Portable Laptop Stand, and the name describes the stand well. The little stand is only a quarter of an inch thick when folded up.
