LIP Mythic Jump Hour Watch has no hands

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on April 17th, 2011

Look ma, no hands! The LIP Mythic Jump Hour Watch has no hands at all. The minutes, seconds and hour hands are replaced by discs for each that rotate as time passes. The bottom loop shows you the current time.

It uses a Swiss quartz movement, features a square stainless steel outer body and is waterproof up to 3 ATM. The LIP Mythic Jump Hour Watch manages to look pretty elegant despite having no hands though. Looks like a James Bond watch.

The Swiss Army Knife of Steampunk guns

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on March 31st, 2010

Looking for some multi-function in your Steampunk gun? Then this one is for you? It’s basically a Steampunk Swiss-Army Knife. This steampunk metapen gun is almost as small as the world’s smallest gun as well. It’s made from all the usual materials, brass ,copper, wood and steel.

And it does more than just shoot Victorian-clad villains dead. There’s a fork, knife, spoon, lighter, USB drive, watch, lamp, screwdriver, pipe, toothbrush, sawing blade, nail clipper and two extra mines. Pretty awesome.

Luxury watchmaker uses 007-style watermark to find fakes

Posted in Watches by Shane McGlaun on April 1st, 2009

lecuberswatch-sbJames Bond was one of my first contact points with the world of cool gadgets as a kid. Bond always had the cool stuff from cars that turn into submarines, to hot chicks, and watches that had frickin’ lasers inside. One watchmaker has announced a new high tech watermark that sounds like a method of sending Bond covert instructions.

Watchmaker Les Cubeurs has announced that it is now using a special high tech watermark on the crystal of its watches. The watermark is made using a special laser etching process and invisible digital ink. The goal of the watermark is to allow the company and its authorized dealers to determine a real watch from a fake.

MK V Shutter watch

MK V Shutter watchHere’s a simple and yet interesting watch. This MK V watch from Storm London incorporates a working metal shutter that hides and reveals the face. They should have done this with a James Bond watch since it’s how the movies open. Pretty cool, though it might get old having to click a button to see what time it is, but then again when a pretty girl asks for the time, imagine the impression you’ll make. It’s available in black, slate or rose gold finish with a rubber strap and stainless steel case for $171 to $188.

LIP Mach 2000 Dark Master watch

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on March 25th, 2008

LIP Mach 2000 Dark Master watch
This LIP Mach 2000 Dark Master watch is retro-awesome. The design is pretty true to the original, with the movement updated with more-modern quartz tech. The future looks about the same now as it did in the 70′s. It has a bit of a 2001:A Space Odyssey feel to it and it would also be right at home in any old James Bond movie.

If the candy-colored stems aren’t to your liking, there are more subdued color schemes, which all look pretty amazing. The $520 price tag might scare you, but awesomeness has it’s price.

Voice recording spy watch is Bond’s best friend

Voice recording spy watch

This watch not only looks stylish, but it could theoretically help you save the world from an evil mastermind. Even James Bond needs the help of gadgets from time to time.(Every movie) It includes 1GB of flash memory and a mic allowing it to record up to 500 hours of audio. So when the conversation with the villain goes something like, “Do you expect me to talk?”, “No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!”, you can record it all and share it with your CIA or MI-5 friends.

The rechargeable battery is rated for about 9 hours of recording time, but it only takes 2 hours to fully recharge. To transfer files and charge, it uses a mini USB port and it also has a headphone jack for playing back audio.

Portable hard drives get paranoid

“Cutie Bio”

There’s been alot of news lately about hard drive security and data protection. A new portable hard drive enclosure from Sarotech, adds another layer of security. It’s called the “Cutie Bio” and I think it has watched one too many spy movies. They’ve integrated a fingerprint scanner into an external USB 2.0 device. Just like James Bond, you can access your data with a simple swipe of your finger. Then once it’s no longer connected to the PC, the information becomes encrypted gibberish.

It’s not a bad deal, at $58.55. The only drawback here is that it works solely on Windows machines, leaving Mac owners out in the cold. They do have one that is Mac compatible and Linux-friendly, which uses the more expensive 1.8-inch drives, but availability is yet to be announced.
