We got a chance to get our hands on Griffin’s new Simplifi desktop device recently and we feel they really got the name right on this one. I’ve been thinking on it for awhile and I just can’t think of anything more disturbing then this Spongebob Squarepants iPod dock. Mostly the problem is that you remove his large eyeballs and watch them roll around on the table in time with whatever music you play. It’s made more disturbing by the fact that he doesn’t even have a face, just the fleshy part around the eyes. That’s all you get. Don’t buy your kids this monstrosity, unless you like your kid waking up from mutant cartoon nightmares every night, complete with music. Video below.

The i-Station Rotate from Logic3 is the latest offering in the i-Station line. It makes sure that your iPod or iPhone is always oriented in the right direction, which I’m sure will help you avoid some neck problems while watching videos. The i-Station Rotate has a built-in dock rotating mechanism that turns your device horizontal or vertical depending on your whims, when you still need it to be connected to the dock.

It’s pretty practical and compact, which is good for taking the i-Station Rotate with you on the road etc. It features a Video Out function, TDMA noise suppresion, 3.5mm Stereo line-in socket, a remote control and a carrying case. You can get the i-Station Rotate in January of next year for $129.99.

You may not have heard of Blue Microphones before, but they make some of the best microphones for home and studio recording available. I have one of their USB mics called the Snowball for my computer and it is fantastic.

Blue has announced a couple new products called the Mikey and the Eyeball. Mikey is a recording device that turns a normal iPod into a recording device for lectures, live music, interviews and more. The Mikey plugs into iPod 4G, 5G, and 6G models. It also supports the Nano 2G and 3G as well as the iPod classic. The mic features three user selectable gain settings, positionable head, built-in speaker, and Blue stereo condenser capsules.

Maxell Japan has just released a successor to the MXSP-1000 cradle speaker for all of Apple’s DAPs. It measures in at 425mm x 75mm x 61mm and weighs 630grams. This latest MXSP-1100 is compatible with all versions of the iPod and iPhone and offers an output of 2 x 4.2Watts with a frequency response of 80Hz to 20kHz. It doesn’t look half bad. No word on pricing just yet.

Those who have been trying to make their desks look like Spocks science station will like this one. Plus you’re getting three gadgets in one; a speaker, a 4-port USB hub and a digital alarm clock with 12 or 24 hour mode.

I’m from Texas and we take grillin’ pretty seriously around here. In fact, I once saw a man beat down for overcooking a T-Bone and let me tell you Grandpa is fast with the meat thermometer now. It seems at least some folks in Florida take grilling pretty seriously as well.

Michael Seville has built the ultimate tailgating trailer that was started life as a massive grill on wheels used for a family catering business. The trailer has been converted to a sports bar and packs more electronics than most living rooms.

As our devices get smaller and smaller, the idea of a capsule-sized gadget looks more and more likely. This capsule may be one of your next iPods one day soon. Though I’m not sure anyone will be able to use the buttons. Luckily, there’s only one button on it called ‘Home’ where users can touch it and browse the same way they do on the iPhone.

When the capsule is docked to the mini speaker cradle, data in the iPod capsule can be sent and received from the cradle at the same time. The speaker cradle also functions as iPod docking speakers and a charger. After this thing, the next step will be to swallow the player and somehow manipulate it using thought sent to your stomach acids.

There are a million eye-catching iPod accessories, but this one manages to stand out nicely. This odd looking iPod dock/speaker combo is from designer Jean-Michel Jarre and resembles something you would charge your lightsaber in that also doubles as a heater. It’s called the AeroSystem, retro in name and design.

It’s currently available only in France, and costs about $580, complete with an iPod-inspired remote. Seems to me that it’s more of a suicide station for when your iPod hears about the state of the economy or that Apple has released a new model. Stationed high atop it’s high-rise, it is free to make the decision to jump or not jump.

Well, not that deep. H2O Audio is known for their waterproof products, and here’s their latest way to bring tunes underwater. We had the opportunity to check out the Epson MovieMate 55 all-in-one projector, which offers a high-quality projector, a CD/DVD player and stereo speakers in a portable unit. Epson’s goal with the MovieMate 55 seems to be to offer consumers an affordable, easy and convenient home entertainment console that goes anywhere. Did they succeed? Read on.

If you’re in the market for a helmet that will protect your head while pumping out the tunes, the R.E.D. Protection Trace Audio Helmet features DJ-quality low profile-speakers. It can connect to your iPod or other Mp3 player.

The helmet itself features an injected ABS shell, removable Goggle Clip, removable Goggle Gasket, and front vent plugs. And it’s not stylish at all for $90, though it does come in black or white. Hopefully having speakers in your helmet won’t distract you enough to land you in the hospital, but if does at least you’ll have tunes while waiting on the ambulance.

Boy Genius has some pics of what is in all likelihood the Kindle 2. You’ll notice that this follow-up to the original reader is more rounded, more iPod-esqe, but still in boring white with the same screen. The LCD status bar is nowhere to be seen and a joystick replaces the clickwheel, and so you can avoid accidental page turns, it sports smaller buttons. The SD slot is gone too, since there’s 1.5 gigs on-board, along with grills on back that may mean stereo speakers.

Basically, it’s a lot less ugly. Current Kindle owners can probably skip the upgrade unless the ugliness of the original is really bugging you. No word on the availability yet. Hit the link for more pictures.

Got wood? Yamaha does. Yamaha Japan announced the TSX-120 and TSX-130 iPod docks, both with a soft wood finish. The TSX-130 seen above comes with USB connectors and a CD-drive which supports playback and recording. Shared features on these units include an amplifier output of 15W × 2ch, 2 x eight cms speakers, frequency response of 60Hz ~ 20kHz, FM tuner and remote control.

Sure, nothing new here, but look, wood! They may match your style and even if they don’t, they’re bound to match that Atari you have lying around.These should hit Japanese stores in early December if you want one for X-mas. The TSX-120 will sell for about$ 300, while the TSX-130 will be about $ 400.

The I-MU Vibro Speaker claims to turn just about any hard, flat surface into external speakers for your iPod or compatible mp3 player. It does this with ‘patented super-energy crystals’. Wow. That’s a new one. The device will presumably give you a very loud desk. No comment on the shape and how this device could potentially be misused in other situations.
