New iPod shuffle requires adapter for third-party headphonesThe new voice-enabled iPod shuffle. It’s like Stephen Hawking is there to guide you through your songs in between constantly touching your earbuds wire. I’ll be honest, I think it’s a lame move. A gimmick. One designed to get more money out of the consumer and give you nothing extra.

It has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, but it’s controlled by proprietary headphones. Non-Apple headphones will require a special adapter that includes the required three-button controller. According to Apple they are working with third parties to put other compatible ear phones on shelves.

Mibuds customizes your iPod ear buds

Posted in Accessories by Shane McGlaun on October 29th, 2008

MibudsSome people just have to customize everything. You know the type, in high school they had doodles all over their notebooks, their computers aren’t just black, and clothing has to be flashy. These aren’t the sort of people to have a plain iPod. The iPod has any number of customization accessories for the device itself, but what about the ear buds.

A company called Mibuds has announced a new product that allows users to customize their stock iPod ear buds. The accessories clip to the stock ear buds and sort of remind me of large earrings. There are 36 different options in 12 different series to pick from.

Jean-Michel Jarre’s retro iPod Speakers

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on October 22nd, 2008

Jean-Michel Jarre’s retro iPod SpeakersThere are a million eye-catching iPod accessories, but this one manages to stand out nicely. This odd looking iPod dock/speaker combo is from designer Jean-Michel Jarre and resembles something you would charge your lightsaber in that also doubles as a heater. It’s called the AeroSystem, retro in name and design.

It’s currently available only in France, and costs about $580, complete with an iPod-inspired remote. Seems to me that it’s more of a suicide station for when your iPod hears about the state of the economy or that Apple has released a new model. Stationed high atop it’s high-rise, it is free to make the decision to jump or not jump.
