We recently saw some leaked pics of new iPad cases for the next-generation Apple iPad, and interestingly they had a large opening at the bottom of the case. Some speculated that it was for larger speakers or a built-in SD card slot.

Now another iPad case has surfaced that shows the rear with a metal mesh for an iPad speaker. This comes after recent reports hinted that the slot is for a speaker instead of an SD card slot.

iPod nano without Click Wheel is coming

Posted in iPod Nano by Conner Flynn on August 26th, 2010

Looks like the September 1st event by Apple might add a new iPod nano that could do away with the traditional Click Wheel design. It sure looks that way judging by some new cases. It’s a radical departure from previous generations of the iPod nano.

The missing Click Wheel makes it all smaller. We won’t know for sure until the event, but this one is looking confirmed.

You know the drill. An Apple event is imminent and lo and behold some cases turn up online. Yep, we’ve been here before. These come from Chinese case retailer X-Doria. There’s a case for what appears to be a 4th-gen iPod touch with a camera, and one that’s described as a case for a “nano 6G,” which could be for a new iPod shuffle with touchscreen.

The iPod touch case looks like it has a curved back similar to the current model, while the nano / shuffle case looks like it will hold that 1.7-inch Apple touchscreen that was rumored last month.

Next-generation iPod Touch cases have a Camera Hole?

Posted in iPod Touch by Conner Flynn on August 5th, 2010

Pictures of a so-called protective case for the upcoming iPod touch have surfaced, and if they’re on the level, it would seem to confirm that the next-generation iPod touch will sport a camera, and maybe a built-in flash too, like the iPhone 4.

Take this with a grain of salt. Until Apple confirms it, nothing is certain, but remember that we’ve heard talk of a camera on the iPod touch before. Several times in fact.

Is the Apple iPod nano a possible fire hazard?

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on July 29th, 2010

Not that we knew of. However, Japan’s industry ministry has just ordered Apple to report on selected steps it will take concerning cases of iPod nanos overheating, which gives it a risk of catching fire. So far, overheating cases concerning the 2005 iPod nano while charging have caused at least 27 incidents. Out of those half a dozen fires were recorded which required firefighters to be called.

Aside from that, four different people suffered burns when they touched the device which overheated during charging. Apparently the ministry issued Apple Japan to take measures several times, but nothing has been done yet.
