I hate it when I am driving around in an unfamiliar part of my own town or am visiting another town and need an ATM. Finding an ATM can be a pain if you aren’t in familiar territory. Once you do find an ATM the fees that the machine charges are usually high as well.

MasterCard has announced a new app for the iPhone and iPod touch called ATM Hunter that makes sure no matter where you are you can find an ATM to get cash. The application uses the location services platform of the Apple devices to find ATMs near the user.

Google Voice is a beta service from Google that allows mobile users to get one phone number for all of their phones. That means you can have one number that works for your home phone, business phone, and your mobile.

A new application called GVdialer has been announced that works with Google Voice to allow users to make calls directly from their handsets contacts list, call log, and keypad. The application is available for the iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Windows Mobile, and Nokia Symbian phones.

There are so many things to like about the iPhone and I think many will agree one of the most important features is the App Store. Apple’s App Store has proven to be wildly popular and offers up all sorts of software and games that add fun and functionality to the iPhone.

With the success of the App Store, it’s no surprise that many other phone makers are looking to start their own similar store. Google has done it for its Android smartphones and now Microsoft has announced a new Windows Marketplace for Mobile to do the same thing.

There has never been a Nokia phone that I have been interested in. In fact most of the handsets on the market are boring by my jaded standards. I do like the iPhone, but I will say it’s getting a bit boring and I am looking for the next cool handset.

Nokia has been offering its 5800 XpressMusic handset for a while in Europe, and not so long ago it brought the device to America. There were some issues with connectivity that forced the phone off the market for a while shortly after is US launch.

Time to mark your calendars Crackberry users. According to BusinessWeek, RIM will be launching the BlackBerry App World April 1 at CTIA. RIM’s answer to the iTunes App Store. We’re pretty sure Businessweek isn’t getting an early start on April fools day. RIM’s starting price for apps (not including freebies) is $2.99, vs. Apple’s 99¢.

The move should be a good test of RIM’s true potential and consumers are desperate for BlackBerry apps like those on the iPhone. There’s been some controversy over the pricing, but we don’t think the price will turn users off at all. You tell us.

Lenovo unveiled its new mobile phone, named the X1. The X1 is a 3.2-inch WQVGA display, slide-out phone which uses Tri-Band and EDGE networks. Some other features are built-in GPS and a MicroSD slot for memory expansion.

As far as dimensions, the phone is a close match for the iPhone. The new X1 has a sleek look with a feather touch interface on the front panel and smooth edges. It’s a shame this phone will only be available in China for the moment.

At frakkin last! Cut and paste. Apple fans have something to be happy about this afternoon with the news of the iPhone 3.0 update. The new OS delivers a number of features Apple iPhone users have been waiting for since the iPhone’s launch.

It adds features like cut and paste, turn-by-turn navigation, MMS, 3G tethering, shake to shuffle music, voice memo application. And a whole lot more too. There’s peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connectivity, maps inside other applications, a rumbling for games, and even audio recording.

I like going to the movies and typically when I go it’s a last minute thing while I am out running around with the wife and finding movie times is a priority. I have an app that I use frequently for finding show times that leaves a bit to be desired. Often it doesn’t list all the movies showing at my local theater and show times are wrong.

Fandango has a new application that promises more accuracy and allows you to buy tickets for the movie you want right on your phone. The app is available free on iTunes right now and offers movie times for 16,000 screens around the country. In addition to movie times, the app shows trailers for films and fan ratings for movies.

Sirius XM recently just barely avoided bankruptcy and so they are on the hunt for profits once more and hoping to regain interest from consumers. CFO David Frear has confirmed that the company is developing an iPhone and iPod touch app.

This could get interesting. We will have to see how pricing works with this app. Perhaps users can get an iPhone subscription only. Or maybe it will be a part of standard subscriptions. The app should launch in the second quarter of the year.

When it comes to pure portable gaming consoles there are two choices — the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS. You can play games on other devices on the go, like the iPhone and iPod touch, but the DS and PSP are the only dedicated portable gaming systems.

Nintendo has announced that it has now shipped 100 million Nintendo DS consoles since the systems were introduced. The original DS launched in 2004 and offered dual screens and voice recognition, something not offered on other portable consoles.

GenevaSound’s Home Theater system sound bar is the longest sound bar ever designed but it’s yet to be tested. The sound bar sports a 700-watt amplifier and seven speakers which include a 12-inch subwoofer.

All of that, with just 2.1 virtual surround sound. With those speakers and a $4000 price tag, I want 7.1 with a Blu-ray drive and a lot more. What this bar includes? A CD player, radio, and an iPod/iPhone dock to play all your favorite music when not watching TV.

The new movie Watchmen launched last Friday and it looks cool. The movie follows a group of super heroes and the product tie-ins include video games. The iPhone and iPod touch are getting a game based on the movie that is available now.

The game is called Watchmen: Justice is Coming and justice is cheap too at under a buck on the App store. The game offers 3D graphics and is a MMORPG title that lets players fight in a virtual New York City of the 1970′s.

This is a lot like Truphone, which we told you about in December. Leading IP telecommunications company JAJAH has announced a complete overhaul of the iPod Touch. They want to turn the device into a fully functional iPhone.

The new capabilities will enable carriers and non-carriers to launch the service under their own brand and provide customers with the ability to make low-cost phone calls and send SMS text messages to any phone in the world from their iPod Touch. Consumers would only need a Wi-Fi connection, no SIM card or contract. This is big news, what with the iPod Touch being one of the most popular consumer devices in the world.

The Blackberry Storm is by many accounts the single worst smartphone to ever wear the Blackberry logo. Customers who purchased the device have complained that its performance is sub-par and some reports claim Blackberry knew the device was buggy when it launched the Storm.

Research firm iSuppli has taken the Storm apart to find out how much the components and construction of the smartphone cost RIM. The cost for parts and construction is a bit under $203 according to iSuppli. To compare, the firm found that the parts and build bill for the iPhone 3G was under $175.
