Chase iPhone app lets you deposit checks from anywhere

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on July 4th, 2010

Looks like banking giant Chase is finally getting itself into the 21st century with the latest version of its iPhone app. It allows you to deposit paper checks into your Chase account using an iPhone. All you have to do is take a picture of the front and back of the check, hit a few icons, and you’re done.

This is a major time-saver for people and it’s super useful. You don’t have to make a special trip to the bank anymore just for a deposit. We love that.

Mi-Stylus works on iPad and iPhone

Posted in iPad accessories,iPhone Accessories by Shane McGlaun on May 13th, 2010

I have had an iPhone for a long time now and there are some days when I still wish I had a stylus for touching small links and keys on the screen. I have used a stylus before that was designed to work on the iPhone, but it was too large for good accuracy.

A new stylus has launched called the Mi-Stylus that has a tip made form a composite that will work on the screen of the iPhone and iPad. The flat tip is great for touching larger icons and buttons while the edge is good for smaller keys.

iPhone app chocolates

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on April 28th, 2010

Nothing says I love you like iPhone chocolate apps. These iChocolates are a 20-piece gourmet chocolates assortment which resemble iPhone and iPad app icons, boxed in a luxury iPhone-like package.

They look iDelicious. These are handmade in France and on Etsy now for $46.44 per box. Not a bad price for a geeky treat. Come on Apple nerds, if you REALLY loved Stevie Jobs, you’d send him this. And he would be yours forever.

Google updates Google Earth iPhone app

Posted in Google by Conner Flynn on November 17th, 2009

Google updates Google Earth iPhone appGoogle has updated it’s Google Earth iPhone app. The updates come about a year after the original Google Earth iPhone App was released. Google Earth 2.0 will play nice with the iPhone and iPod Touch, and the new version has a bunch of new features, like the ability to view maps that you create on your PC on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

That one should prove most convenient. Another feature is the updated icon selection, which makes it easier to use. When you touch an icon on the app it will glow, and if you touch more than one icon at once it will take you to a list of icons so you can select the right one.

Pogo Stylus for iPhone Review

Posted in Review by Shane McGlaun on May 15th, 2009

pogostylus-sbI really like my iPhone and I have had it since the first generation devices launched. It’s about time for me to upgrade to a new handset and I am just waiting until June to see if any of the rumors about a new iPhone coming are true. Being a married geek one of the caveats of upgrading my gear is that it has to make it through the wife approval o’meter. Scoff all you want single geeks, any married guy will know what I mean. One good way to get the approval on an upgrade for my iPhone is to convince my wife that she should take my current iPhone over her Blackberry, which is honestly nowhere near as good as the iPhone.

The problem is that my wife always wants to use her nails to work the capacitive touchscreen. Anyone who has used an iPhone knows that won’t work. Another big problem for users in cold environments is that you can’t work the iPhone with gloves on. Today we are going to look at the Pogo Stylus for the iPhone that will solve both of these problems. Read on for all the details on the Pogo Stylus for iPhone.

World Of Warcraft theme on BlackBerry

Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on January 1st, 2009

World Of Warcraft theme on BlackBerryWorld of Warcraft has a huge fanbase. The kinds of fans that are actually into tech as well. So it makes sense to have a World of Warcraft Today theme for the BlackBerry Curve. WoW fans can now get in-game graphics and icons on their communications devices, and probably helpful reminders about any guild raids they may have planned.

Just when you thought you could get a gamer out of the WoW universe for a few minutes, something like this comes along and pulls them back in. Sure, it’s not like you get to play on your iPhone, but the theme certainly gives BlackBerry that in game feel. Horde and Alliance themes can’t be far behind.

Hands on with the new Olive Palm Centro

Posted in Review by Darrin Olson on December 17th, 2008

Olive Palm Centro hands on reviewA common gift people will give themselves for the holiday season is a new phone. With broadband networks getting faster by the minute, a phone that is smart enough to handle surfing the internet, getting email, supporting IM’s and taking pictures becomes more and more attractive. This holiday season we had the opportunity to take a look at a couple of Palm’s smartphones, and in particular we spent some time with the new Olive-colored Palm Centro.

If you’re in the market for your first smartphone or you’re just looking for something that’s slick and easy to use with broadband access you will be well-served to take a look at the Palm Centro. Palm has been getting some mixed reviews lately when placed against some of the latest in smartphone technology such as RIM’s Blackberry or Apple’s iPhone, but we found the Centro to be a refreshing and fun device, and at just the right price.

iPhone Coffee Table with built-in coaster app

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on December 7th, 2008

iPhone Coffee Table with built-in coaster appHere’s one nice looking piece of geek furniture. The iPhone’s colorful icons translate well into spots to park your drinks. Oddly and sadly, the iPhone Coffee Table has no special dock for your iPhone, and it won’t run any apps. It’s just a really kick-ass coffee table featuring the home screen.

One cool feature is that each icon features a removable coaster so guests won’t scratch up your giant nerd-decor. The creators claim that it’s “completely made of corrugate and glued together with white glue”. Anyhow, the end result is a beauty.

iPhone runs windows vista, kinda
Here’s a cool iPhone hack. Some of you would really love this while others would really hate it. VistaPerfection 2.0 is a complete re-skinning kit for Apple’s iPhone that lets it mimic a Windows Vista machine. Why would you want to? Hell if I know. You create things like this just because you can.

The install comes with wallpapers, sliders, sound effects and over 90 Vista-themed icons for everything from the computer to the recycle bin, plus all of the standard iPhone apps. It even gives you a simulated version of Vista’s Sidebar and Start menu. If this appeals to you, go ahead and get the full download and instructions.

Leopard on sale today

Posted in Apple,Leopard,News by Chetz on October 26th, 2007

Apple Leopard OS XToday marks the launch of Apple’s new Leopard operating system, the tenth iteration of the software. Loyal Apple users took it on the chin when Leopard was delayed from its June launch until October to allow Apple to have the time to focus on launching its iPhone. For $129 you get over 300 new features for your desktop experience such as Time Machine (back up your computer’s contents automatically), Boot Camp (turn your Apple into a PC), a revamped menu bar that allows you to stack icons or folders, stronger encryption and firewall protection including something called Sandboxing which makes it harder for any hacker to remotely control your machine, enhanced wireless capture of images and many more doodads.

Reviews of the new Leopard are generally favorable. The Wall Street Journal software expert said “Leopard isn’t a must-have for current Mac owners, but it adds a lot of value,” while The New York Times sums up their review by saying “This Leopard has more than 300 new spots — and most of them are bright ones.” The bottom line seems to be that while Leopard isn’t a must-have for what it does offer it’s worth dropping your cash for.

Apple’s Lawyers Keep Busy With iPhone

Posted in Apple,iPhone by Chris Weber on January 15th, 2007

apple lawyers defend iphone against interface pirates clonesThis story could also be titled “Attack of the Clones.” Apple is feverishly trying to fend off imitators and copycat sites that have created user interfaces for other mobile devices that resemble the iPhone’s interface just a little too much. Apple likes attention but not this kind of attention.

One such site, modaco.com, posted a cease and desist email supposedly from Apple’s attorneys. The text of the email says, “It has come to our attention that you have posted a screenshot of Apple’s new iPhone …
