Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on August 26th, 2010

There’s a whole industry built around extending your iPhone 4s battery life, since it isn’t replaceable like the Galaxy S. Here’s the latest device to get your iPhone all juiced up, the latest case with an extended battery pack.

The Mili PowerSpring 4 ships today for £54.99 (or $85 on Amazon). The company claims that it’s the world’s thinnest iPhone 4 battery pack to double your battery life thanks to a 1600mAh capacity Li-Pol battery.

OtterBox iPad cases now shipping

Posted in Otterbox by Shane McGlaun on August 11th, 2010

If you have an iPad you may have worried on more than one occasion that a drop would kill your beloved tablet, I know I have worried. My 5-year-old carts the thing all over the house playing Slingshot Cowboy and you never know when she will do something crazy like stand on it to reach the snack drawer.

OtterBox has unveiled a couple cases for the iPad that just might protect my tablet from the daily tribulations of having a young child using the thing. Most will be familiar with the Commuter and Defender line of cases from the various devices the cases are already available for, like the iPhone 4.

Images of screen for iPod touch 4 surface

Posted in Apple by Shane McGlaun on August 6th, 2010

Yesterday we saw some images of what is supposed to be an iPhone touch 4 mockup and case surface. Today we see some new shots of what it supposed to be the screen for the next iPod touch.

The images come from MacRumors and the site claims to have received the images from an Apple supplier. The screen clearly shows the hole needed for a front facing camera.

Next-generation iPod Touch cases have a Camera Hole?

Posted in iPod Touch by Conner Flynn on August 5th, 2010

Pictures of a so-called protective case for the upcoming iPod touch have surfaced, and if they’re on the level, it would seem to confirm that the next-generation iPod touch will sport a camera, and maybe a built-in flash too, like the iPhone 4.

Take this with a grain of salt. Until Apple confirms it, nothing is certain, but remember that we’ve heard talk of a camera on the iPod touch before. Several times in fact.

Motorola’s new Droid X ad makes fun of iPhone 4

Posted in Apple,Motorola by Shane McGlaun on July 28th, 2010

You have to live under a rock to not know about the issues that iPhone 4 users are having with the antenna on the new smartphone. Apple has admitted there is an issue and has offered up free cases for users to fix the issue.

Apple is even refunding users that bought the bumper case with their smartphone. Motorola is taking the chance to make fun of the iPhone 4 and its need for a case in its new ad for the Droid X.

Free iPhone 4 Bumper Cases will cost Apple $175 million

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on July 21st, 2010

Apple’s recent offer of free bumper cases for the iPhone 4 is generous. Not as generous as a well engineered phone, but still. The move will cost quite a bit. One analyst had previously speculated that a full hardware recall would set Apple back $1.5B. Apple has announced a figure that is a bit easier to swallow.

The free bumper cases for the iPhone 4 will cost the company $175 million. But one still has to ask, how does such an engineering snafu get past Apple in the first place? One wonders if they were trying to save money for some reason. This whole issue is very unlike Apple.

A simple case-free fix for the iPhone 4 reception issue

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on July 19th, 2010

Apple is giving away cases to all iPhone 4 owners, but what if you don’t want to use a case? It sucks that Apple’s bad design forces you to use a case. Yeah, they love their customers, just as long as you shut up and put a condom on your phone.

Well, these Antenna-Aids just might fix things without the need for a case. They are little colorful band-aids that stick right over that problem area on the new iPhone 4. The boo-boo if you will. The iPhone 4′s great unhealed wound, created not by skinning it’s knee on the playground, but rather from bad engineering, the equivalent of genetic inbreeding in the factory.

Quirky Tilt for iPhone 4 surfaces

Posted in Mobile Accessories by Shane McGlaun on July 16th, 2010

Quirky has made some of the coolest gadgets and off the wall products I have seen over the last few months. The latest product to come from Quirky is for the iPhone 4 and is called the Tilt.

The Tilt case has a flip down section that can be used to prop the phone up in portrait or landscape modes. The case is offered in black or purple/white colors and the thing is a bumper style case. It should keep you from blocking the antenna and help reception too.

Speck’s Fitted ArtsProjekt available for iPod Touch

Posted in iPod Touch by Conner Flynn on July 15th, 2010

The iPod Touch has been feeling pretty neglected lately with all of the iPhone 4 and iPad news. So Speck has come out with two new Fitted Artsprojekt cases. The cases have been designed by some of the world’s most progressive artists and members of Artsprojekt.

They should add a touch of sophistication to your device. The designs are printed on soft fabric and then fitted onto Speck’s hard-shell cases. The two new cases feature designs by Jared Nickerson, who created the “Mother Nature” theme. The second case has artwork from J. David McKenney.

iPhone 4 Cases in Crocodile Skin and White Gold

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on July 11th, 2010

Forget fancy Swarovski studded iPhone cases. Crocodile skin with white gold is the way to go. Or maybe a Stingray polished or python skinned iPhone 4 case? Apparently each of these is available from a site called MJ Apple iPhone Limited Edition.

Yes, that name sounds pretty shady. But if this is your sort of thing, these are all limited editions. Apparently they ship from Russia and you will have to email or call to ask about price and availability, so you know it’s expensive.

Exovault metal iPhone cases

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on July 7th, 2010

These EXOvault cases for the iPhone look down right awesome. Each is handmade from metal, and some models are engraved with intricate designs. They add a touch of old world metal chic to your iPhone. Each of EXOvault’s cases are crafted from lightweight metals, like brass or anodized aluminum, and feature an inlaid rosewood accent on back.

There’s also a minimal black aluminum case that looks pretty decent. They are priced at $110 to $165. All of the cases are designed for the iPhone 3GS, but hopefully they will out some iPhone 4 designs soon.

Coveroo offers iPhone 4 cases you can customize

Posted in Mobile Accessories by Shane McGlaun on June 25th, 2010

One of the things about the iPhone is that with its popularity just about everyone has one. It’s hard to be unique when everyone uses the same gear. Coveroo has announced a couple new cases for the iPhone 4.

Among the new cases are ones that are printed with the typical stuff we see like movie characters, team logos, and other designs. The cool case is one that the company will put your own picture or design on.

MobileProtect is ready to insure your iPhone 4

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on June 24th, 2010

When you pay Apple prices for the latest shiny gadget, you are going to want some insurance to protect your investment. MobileProtect is the only company to offer insurance for the iPhone 4 right now, when it comes to cases of loss or theft, water or other liquid damage, accidental damage and out-of-warranty failure.

It’s a great idea. Especially in this economy. It will cost you $11.99 a month for the coverage. It’s probably only necessary for the more accident prone among us.

ZAGG announces iPhone 4 invisibleSHIELD

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Shane McGlaun on June 10th, 2010

I have talked before about the ZAGG invisibleSHIELD protective films. I have used these films on all of my iPhones since the device launched and it does a great job of protecting the screen and body of the phone without having to worry about scratches.

The only downside to the film is that the extra grip it gives the body of the iPhone makes it hard to use the device in a case that fits snugly. ZAGG has announced that it has the film available for the iPhone 4.
