Verizon Wireless launches phone trade-in program

Posted in Verizon by Shane McGlaun on September 30th, 2010

I am not a big fan of AT&T most days, my iPhone drops calls and I have had nightmares trying to get a new iPhone 4 so far. If you are tired of AT&T or another carrier and want to move to Verizon the company has a new trade-in program that you may be interested in.

The program will let you trade in any mobile phone that operates on any carrier. The phones will be accepted whether they work or not and the price given depends on the condition and what they are. My cracked screen iPhone 3GS is worth a crappy $12 and even if the screen was whole, the price is only about $20.

Minimalist 4 iPhone 4 case is part wallet

Posted in Apple by Shane McGlaun on September 15th, 2010

I am not the sort of person to pack a wallet with a bunch of photos, business cards, and general junk until it’s so swollen you can’t even sit on it. I like thin wallets that go in the front pocket and the only things I take with me are a single car key, my iPhone, and my wallet when I leave the house.

An awesome new iPhone 4 case has turned up that will let me ditch the wallet and only carry the iPhone and my car key when I go out. The case is called the Minimalist 4 and is made by Trtl Bot. It does all the normal stuff you expect a case to do like protect your phone if you drop it. The thing is made from recycled plastic right here in the USA.

Apple stopping free iPhone 4 case program on September 30th

Posted in Apple by Conner Flynn on September 12th, 2010

Remember when “antennagate” turned into a big deal and Steve Jobs went out on stage and offered everyone a free case, as well as extending the normal 14-day return policy to 30-days? Good times. But, now it’s September 12th today, and the program is closing in 18 days.

While Apple is ending the overall program, which meant that owners of the iPhone 4 could get a free case, it also meant that Apple’s return policy was “upgraded” from 14-days to 30, and the traditional restocking fee of 10% was waived. But, those two features are going back to their old ways.

Posted in Computers by Shane McGlaun on September 8th, 2010

Notebook users know that the power adapter for their machines often seems as big and heavy as the notebook itself. It can be a real challenge to fit that adapter into your notebook bag or suitcase when going on the road because of the bulk. Cooler Master has unveiled a new universal 95W adapter for small notebooks that is very thin and small.

The adapter is called the USNA 95 and it has 95W of power with 150W peak. The small adapter measures 2.4″ x 0.7″ x 4.1″ and is billed as the world’s smallest 95W power adapter. The device ships with nine tips that work with the majority of notebooks on the market.

Nuu Mini Key puts a physical keypad on your iPhone 4

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on September 6th, 2010

This is a great idea, but just look at how fat it makes your once beautiful iPhone. Well, if you don’t mind the added girth, the Nuu Mini Key case for the iPhone 4 will put a keyboard on your device.

Yes, this is a sliding QWERTY keyboard add-on for the iPhone 4. And it looks ridiculous. It should be going on sale before the end of the year for about $60. If it has to be that fat it should at least include a built-in battery for additional juice.

Energizer wireless inductive charger for blackberry and iphone

Posted in Chargers by Conner Flynn on September 5th, 2010

We love anything that helps us get rid of wires around here. So we are excited about Energizer’s new inductive charger that is Qi enabled. Qi is the wireless charging standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium, and should eventually make its way into more and more devices.

The charger will work with the iPhone or the Blackberry Curve 8900. The battery door for the Blackberry and the sleeve case for the iPhone 3G/3GS are both sold separately. Luckily, this device has enough room to charge three devices at the same time, which is nice.

Logitech offers new speaker options for laptops

Posted in Logitech by Shane McGlaun on September 1st, 2010

Of all the notebooks I have tired over the years it’s safe to say that 99.99% of the have crap sound systems. They sound flat, lack volume so you can actually hear what’s going on and have no bass. This is the reason there are some any different external speakers and headphone options around.

Logitech has announced a couple new laptop offerings called the Logitech Laptop Speaker Z305 and the Logitech Wireless Speaker Z515. Both speakers are aimed at notebook users with Mac or Windows machines. The Z515 is a wireless offering with a USB transmitter that uses 2.4GHz tech for 50-foot range. The speaker can also connect to the iPad or iPhone wirelessly as well.

Sure, we’ve seen many phones with dual SIM card slots. Most are for the Asian markets, but the iPhone 4 is not one of them. Well, USBFever has come up with a solution to that problem, with a new $30 case that can hold dual full size SIM cards on the back of your iPhone 4.

It holds the cards in place and runs an adapter to the iPhone 4′s micro SIM slot. You can then switch between the two SIMs from the iPhone’s settings menu, though you can’t use both SIMs simultaneously.

iPhone gets some R2-D2 action too

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on August 18th, 2010

We wish we knew, but sadly no one is sure when the R2-D2 version of the Droid 2 is going on sale, so in the meantime keep using your 3G or 3GS iPhone for a little longer, so you can use this R2-D2 case.

It may not be as cool as the R2 version of the Droid 2, but it gets the job done for a cheaper price. You can pre-order it now for just $30. Awesome right?
