Did Gizmodo pay $10,000 for “lost” iPhone 4G |
The Internet is on fire today with Gizmodo’s hands on preview of what appears to be Apple’s next-gen iPhone. In case you missed the story, someone found an iPhone in a bar in Redwood City. The device appeared to be an iPhone 3GS, but when the cover was removed, it was clear that this was no ordinary iPhone. It appeared to be Apple’s next-gen iPhone. And it looks like that is exactly what it is.
The guy who found the iPhone sent pictures of it to Engadget. Later Gizmodo actually obtained the iPhone in question, which has given Gizmodo over 2.5 million page views on that story alone. Then came word that Gizmodo had paid 10 grand for the iPhone prototype. Did they? We don’t know. Were they and Engadget in a bidding war? We don’t know.

Apple launched it’s new
Smartphones with GPS navigation are nothing new; in fact, the feature is a staple of pretty much every smartphone on the market today. However, for many of the most popular devices, like the iPhone, GPS navigation requires you to buy software. Garmin-Asus has announced the official launch window for the nuvifone A50 with navigation at its core.

The guys over at Engadget recently got some hands on time with Google’s Nexus One. So now we have some high quality pictures of the sexy device and some initial impressions.
The folks at Apple are making a number of announcements today and they keep getting better as we go. One of the latest is a drop in price for the iPod touch. The 8GB model, previously at $249, has been dropped to what Apple is calling a “magic” price point at $199.
As far as looks, this iPhone 3G knockoff is dead on, even featuring an OS X-inspired interface. It’s the best
I am not a big fan of Bluetooth headsets. I don’t really care for the way they look in your ear and I don’t like how they feel. Recently I bought a car with a convertible top and a manual transmission and I decided it was time for a hands free device. It’s nearly impossible to drive a 5-speed in traffic and talk on the phone without a hands free device. Today I am going to look at the BlueAnt S1 Sun visor Bluetooth car kit. Read on for all the details on the BlueAnt S1.
Philips just unveiled a bunch of new products, everything from new digital audio players, to all in one remotes, to iPhone speaker systems and landline handsets. There are a few that stand out from the crowd. Like the clip-on GoGear Luxe MP3 player with Bluetooth headset. It lets you switch from music to calls with just a click. It also features a music shuffle mode, a 100 hour battery life, FM radio with 20 presets, and its display shows caller ID and numbers. It retails for $79.99.
Belkin offers more accessories for the iPhone and iPod than you can shake a stick at. One of the things that most iPhone or iPod owners do first is add a case to their device to protect it from drops and scratches during daily use.
Now we have a leaked image that suggests Fido will be offering a 4GB iPhone 3G in the near future that will retail for $99, with quad-band EDGE and tri-band HSDPA connectivity, a 2-megapixel camera and iChat video calling, which means a front facing camera.
As we approach WWDC ’09, more leaks are leaking. According to Engadget, a “trusted source” says that you will soon have a choice of 4, 8, 16, and 32GB iPhones. The source claims that the iPhones have been approved by the PCS Type Review Certification Board, which certifies models for use with some carriers.
Some concepts are so pie in the sky out there all you can do is shake your head, while others are downright realistic. We’ll leave it up to you to figure out which category this one falls into. I think we can all agree that we’d love to see this one happen asap.
