Ellen jokes about the iPhone…then apologizes

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on May 4th, 2010

Apparently Apple doesn’t like satire when it’s about their company and their devices. Seems like they think it’s A-Okay to bully Ellen into apologizing for spoofing an iPhone commercial.

Seriously Apple, I’m starting to think you go out of your way to create bad PR and a Gestapo-like image. Ellen isn’t exactly my cup of tea, but she shouldn’t have to apologize for a simple spoof. When Hitler gets wind of this one he won’t be happy. Bet you can’t get him to apologize.

If you’re a fan of Futurama or just of robots in general, you can never have too much Bender. This Bender iPhone case is from etsy seller NOKOMOMO and comes with a matching keychain.

Admittedly, it looks as if Bender is a mask wearing bandit or has some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle genes, but it’s still a pretty cool iPhone case. You gotta love that beer-swilling cigar smoking bot, so why not show your love by buying this baby at just $24.

Zo subwoofer adds bass to your iPod

Posted in iPod Accessories by Shane McGlaun on April 29th, 2010

I have lots of notebooks and netbooks that come through my hands and I have tested more than my share of MP3 players and iPods too. One thing that many of the devices have in common is that they lack bass.

If you want more bass from your iPod or MP3 player the zo personal subwoofer promises the kind of bass you expect form a 12-inch sub from a device the size of an iPod nano. The zo has a gauge on the front to show the intensity level it is set at.

Next iPhone expected to trigger flash memory shortage

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on April 28th, 2010

Word is that the upcoming release of Apple’s iPhone 4G might cause a shortage of flash memory in the market. Apple is expected to ship about 40 million iPhones this year alone, which is just a bit more than 25 million from a year back. Does that mean there could be a shortage?

But that isn’t all to consider. Apple is expected to ship about 7-8 million iPads this year as well. See how it is starting to look likely? Apple is already said to be the largest consumer of flash memory in the world, since it uses built-in memory in the iPhone, iPad and iPods.

Sirius XM app for Android coming soon

Posted in Android by Conner Flynn on April 25th, 2010

iPhone and iPod touch users have had a Sirius XM app for about a year now, and Android users will soon be able to get in on it as well. Right now there’s still no launch date, but the app is “coming soon,”.

Apparently it will be pretty identical to the iPhone OS version, with support for streaming over WiFi and 3G. But it seems like Sirius XM is saying that the app will only be available for the Droid and Nexus One, which is strange.

Human Touch iPhone controlled massage chair

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on April 22nd, 2010

The iPhone has more accessories and apps than anything in the history of everything. And this latest is probably one of the largest iPhone accessories ever, the Human Touch HT-Connect.

The HT Connect massage chair connects to your iPhone or iPod Touch via Bluetooth, and comes with an iPhone application that lets you control all the functions of the massage chair. Now THAT sounds relaxing. Until you see the price. I need a massage after seeing that $5,999 price.

Who doesn’t love chocolate? I do, you do. In fact, you probably don’t have any chocolate right now because you ate it, since it’s delicious and all. Why not add some chocolate to your iPod?

It won’t melt, won’t taste good, but it will deliver some delicious sounds from your music and remind you to buy more when you are at the store. Only $21. And now I’m hungry.

Apple files Patent for Digital Concert and Events tickets

Posted in patents by Conner Flynn on April 18th, 2010

Details have come to light regarding a new Apple patent which could see the iPhone and iPod Touch used as digital tickets for concerts and events. The patent was filed in September 2008 and reveals that the system would use near field communications technology. Your iPhone or iPod would be simply swiped allowing you to enter the concert or event.

Rumor is that if you like the show and are a female, you can also use your iPhone to digitally throw a pair of panties not onstage, but from your iPhone to the band’s iPhone. Okay, I made that part up, but it certainly opens up some interesting possibilities.

iSkin has announced a new case for the 5th generation iPod nano that has Microban antimicrobial protection built-in. The Microban protection promises to reduce odors and stains on the armband.

Posted in Batteries by Shane McGlaun on April 15th, 2010

I want batteries in my gadgets that last a long time. However, how fast the battery can be recharged is equally important. If the battery runs for 12 hours, but takes six hours to charge it’s not such a great thing.

A cool new portable battery pack has surfaced called the Freeplay ZipCharge. The device has a USB port for charging all manner of gadgets. The battery inside the ZipCharge can power your iPod for a full extra charge after only 15 minutes of charging itself.

House season finale shot on a Canon 5D Mark II

Posted in Cameras by Conner Flynn on April 13th, 2010

The HD video quality of dSLRs is amazing these days. And so the House season finale has now been shot entirely on a Canon 5D Mark II.

House director Greg Yaitanes recently announced the news on Twitter. He says the 5D was a perfect fit for the “tight spaces” of the finale. They used some Canon prime lenses along with the 24-70 and 70-200 zoom and they didn’t even use an image stabilization rig of any sort for the non-tripod shots. Pretty impressive.
