iriver has not updated its P series of large-screen portable media players in quite some time, so you are likely as surprised as we are that this five-incher has shown up on the company’s Russian site. With a battery life of up to nine hours of video and 40 hours of audio to boot.

The P8 comes in 8GB and 16GB sizes, sports a microSD slot, and an HDMI port for pushing HD content to a TV. We have no idea if it will ever land on American shores or how much it will cost when it does, but we like what we see.

Ever since Sony made the announcement about the Sony NGP everyone has been wondering how much it will cost. Sadly, we still don’t know. But we do know that Sony wanted to keep the NGP price as low as possible, and so they dropped a bunch of features from the Next Generation Portable before the final specifications were announced.

We don’t know what exactly was dropped, but the point is that it will be affordable. It doesn’t matter how many features a device has if it is out of reach of it’s market. The NGP will be priced competitively and not expensive when compared to other portable consoles.

Sony’s Next Generation Portable (PSP2) has been called a PS3 for your pocket. It is codenamed the NGP. So how much does it cost? Sony has no answer to that yet, but GameStop has the device up for pre-order and they have a price in mind. The Sony NGP page on their website has an estimated price of $999.99.

They probably just want to make it look like it had a price cut the day it comes out. Sneaky. Sony hasn’t mentioned when they will be announcing the actual price, but with the device is scheduled for an end of year release.

The latest promotional video of the HP Slate takes some well deserved shots digs at Apple’s new iPad. The video below won’t tell you the specs, how much it will cost or when it will be available, but it does make a point to mention that the device supports SD cards and USB connectors, which you won’t find on the iPad by default.

Ironically, the HP Slate is shown running iTunes. HP is trying to tell you that it is just as good, or maybe better than Apple’s iPad. What do you think? We think it looks very promising.

Remember the Samsung NX10? It’s a hybrid DSLR using a new format created by Samsung which is slightly bigger than the Micro Four Thirds format and smaller than the DSLR format. Samsung has just announced five news lenses for the NX10, which includes an 18-55mm f3.5-56 lens, a 20mm f2.8 pancake lens, a 60mm f2.7 macro lens, a 20-50mm f3.5-56 lens and an 18-200m OIS f3.5-63 lens.

The new lenses are smaller than standard DSLR lenses since the NX10 doesn’t have any mirrors inside.

Remember the iKey AK-39 military-grade wrist keyboard? It was a small keyboard made for a soldier to wear on his or her wrist in order to manipulate a rugged, portable computer.

Now iKey has a new keypad, and it’s an OEM product meant to integrate directly with wrist-worn computers. The 17-key keypad “functions just like a cellular phone does when texting”. It also sports an integrated pointing device, dedicated mouse-click button, and an Enter key.

This MacBook Air clone goes the extra mile by including a clone of the MacBooks box as well, along with a manual and necessary drivers. Imagine when you open this package and find that what’s inside isn’t from Cupertino at all.

I wonder if this is enough to get Apple’s lawyers all hot and bothered. However, you have to give the cloner here some credit, it does have a user replaceable battery. It you want the package above, it will cost you $278. Possibly much more if you see this on Ebay and think it’s the real deal.

Here at the ‘Brick we’re always on the lookout for gadgets that can give us sweet gadget juice, without it costing money on our electric bills. So we checked out Kinesis’ K3 power generator. The device sports both a windmill and solar cells, plus you can charge its internal battery with external electricity sources. So you can charge its 4,000 mAh battery using a USB adapter or a car cigarette lighter if you absolutely need power on hand.

According to the company, one hour of sun and wind will give you 30 minutes of talk time on a cellphone. Fully charged, the K3 can load the battery cells for an average mobile phone five times, or an MP3 player more than ten times. It costs $100.

Sure, the PSP Go! looks awesome. It’s slimmer, lighter, has downloads instead of UMD. But where’s the full QWERTY keyboard? Acidmods forum member folklord36’s PSP Laptop does have QWERTY, thanks to an Xbox Chat Pad. It also has relocated speakers, LED lighting and more.

The screen section is a modified Joytech visor that has the same finish as the PSP, and its sturdy hinge can be positioned at anything up to 180-degrees. We don’t know how long it took him to create this or how much it cost, but we wouldn’t mind having one ourselves.

Xerox’s new ColorQube printer promises to revolutionize color-printing using a wax ink. The ink can reduce the cost per page by as much as 62%. This new ink doesn’t sacrifice any printer functions either. Like other multi-function printers, the ColorQube can print, copy, scan and fax and be networked by several people.

So how does it work? The ink is melted and sprayed onto a spinning drum which deposits it on the page. Don’t get too excited. The machine costs $20,000. But as the technology progresses it will get cheaper over time. And even at that price huge companies could see a long term savings in cost.

Philips has dropped a new range of super-compact PMPs, the Philips GoGear Spark. What a go-getter of a name. I can almost see some cartoon anime kid gripping the device and shouting PHILIPS…GOGEAR…SPARK in order to summon some demon. But other then that the name really doesn’t do much for me. It measures 41 x 41 x 15 mm and features an OLED display. The new PMPs are available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities, with optional FM tuners.

The OLED display measures 1.46-inches and comes in at 128 x 128 resolution. The PMP itself will play MP3, WMA and WAV files together with displaying JPEG images, but there’s no video playback support. Are you surprised? Video on a 1.46 inch screen would have you wearing coke bottle glasses in no time.

Sprint just rolled out the Sierra Wireless Mobile Broadband USB Modem 598U complete with Sprint logo, offering users a compact and reliable mobile solution to connect to the Internet from anywhere. This is a EV-DO Rev. A-compatible device that boasts average download speeds of between 600 kbps and 1.4 Mbps, while upload speeds average 350 to 500 kbps.

The 598U is also compatible with EV-DO Rev. 0 and 1XRTT technology just in case you’re in an area where EV-DO Rev. A is unavailable. Some other features include an integrated GPS receiver and a microSDHC memory card slot (up to 32GB) for expansion. How much does it cost?

The latest USB toy to come out of Japan is named H-Bouya. We’ll be honest here, it leaves us with a creepy, not safe feeling, mixed with confusion and please don’t stab us with a usb stick.
