LiteLocker hides your Christmas lights

Posted in Home by Conner Flynn on December 22nd, 2010

Christmas lights are cool, but they are a pain since you need to take them down again when the season is over. The LiteLocker will help make it less of a chore. The idea is that it will fold up and hide the lights behind a protective cover once the Christmas season is over.

That not only keeps them out of sight, but you also won’t need to go through the hassle of putting them all away. It’s available in 4-foot lengths and will ship with all of the necessary wiring, sockets and light bulbs to get you started.

Efika MX Smartbook from Genesi available to purchase

Posted in Computers by Shane McGlaun on September 6th, 2010

I will say right up front that I never really saw the point of smartbooks. They are the same basic size as a netbook, though they are a pound or so lighter. The big downside in my mind has always been the performance of a smartbook.

Inside the smartbooks netbook looking shell hides hardware with more in common with a smartphone. If you like the smartbook promise a new machine from Genesi has landed called the Efika MX Smartbook. The machine can be purchased now for $349.

Periscope Lighted Folio goes pink and fits Kindle 2 and Nook

Posted in ebooks by Shane McGlaun on August 24th, 2010

I have used several eReaders over the years and they are nice as long as you have light to read by. Once it gets dark you can’t read from the screen of most eReaders, unless the reader uses a LCD like the iPad. EInk displays lack a backlight.

For the eReader like the Nook or Kindle 2 if you want to read in the dark you, need a light. Periscope has announced that its Lighted Folio is now available to fit the Kindle 2 and the Barnes & Noble Nook. It has the same hideaway dual LED light to read by.

Grape-DR supercomputer uses less power than the typical light bulb

Posted in Green by Shane McGlaun on July 13th, 2010

Generally, a supercomputer brings to mind a power-sucking vortex of raw performance crammed inside a slick and simple cabinet that hides most of the hardware. The Grape-DR supercomputer isn’t your typical supercomputer model though.

The little beastie lacks the cabinet to hide all the hardware. Instead of that cabinet, the Grape-DR has a tangled mess of wires that will one day give a system admin a nightmare. The machine has super computer power though.

The Rambler Socket hides an extension cord in your wall

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on December 28th, 2009

Short cords on things like vacuum cleaners really stink. And if you use an extension cord, well, it just gets in the way. Let’s face it, cords are just plain messy no matter what you do. Well, the newly designed Rambler Socket is here to help.

It’s basically a 1.5 meter cord rolled up and hidden behind a socket. When needed, all you need to do is pull the cord out and connect your appliance instead of using an extension. When you’re done, just give the cord a slight tug and it winds the cord back into the wall.

Star Wars Jedi Bath Robes

Posted in Apparel by Conner Flynn on September 27th, 2009

Star Wars Jedi Bath RobesCheck out these Jedi Bath Robes. They’re perfect for all of the nerdy Jedi secret meetings you and your friends have. You know, the ones where you re-enact classic scenes and spank each other with lightsabers saying. “Thank you sir, may I have another?”

Good times no doubt. And you’ll remain comfy through all of your shenanigans, since these Jedi robes are made of soft 100% cotton velour. Of course, the Jedi logo is embroidered on the front. And the hood is large enough that you can hide your face in shame when you wear it in public.

Tampon USB flash drive

Posted in USB by Conner Flynn on March 3rd, 2009

Tampon USB flash driveWhether you plan on having a heavy or a light data flow, this tampon drive should have you covered. Just don’t send your boyfriend in the store to get this for you. It’s a real product.

Apparently a light flow means that you need the 1GB. I shudder to think what the 16GB model means. No info on pricing. Which is a shame, because I know you just can’t wait to buy one. I’m thinking that female spys have a new place to hide their secrets.

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on October 21st, 2008

Custom-made Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3Konami’s limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 seems absolutely plain when compared to this custom-made system built by Morpheon Mods. It’s absolutely drool worthy and available for auction on eBay. Some of the features include a laser-cut, stainless steel MGS4 marquee, a laser-etched image of Solid Snake himself, a carbon fiber Fox Hound logo on the back, and 14 white micro LEDs to light it all up. That’s Hideo Kojima’s autograph as well.

It’s a fully backwards compatible 60GB PS3. You know it isn’t going to be cheap. Bidding is already up to $2,550.00 with six days left. You’ll also get some other Metal Gear goodies with it, and 15% of the proceeds will go toward the Child’s Play charity. That is one beauty of a PS3. Go bid.

Getting geeky/freaky with Spy Camera Sunglasses

Posted in Glasses by Nino Marchetti on March 17th, 2008

geek-sunglasses.jpgYou too can now look cool and geeky as you cruise down the road on your favorite moped. All it takes is these new 1.3 Megapixel Spy Camera Sunglasses, available through ThinkGeek for around $100.

The 1.3 Megapixel Spy Camera Sunglasses can help you snap photos of that hot model in the Porsche next to you at the stoplight. The 1.3-megapixel lens is embedded in part of front of the frame, and she’ll never know you are shooting photos as you stare with drool apparent. She may think you are a bit creepy though, dusting you when the light turns green.

boombox-mobile.jpgIt’s 9pm on a Saturday night and the DJ hasn’t shown for your house party. Guests are getting upset and your speaker system is busted. One possible solution is to bust out this Mini Boombox GSM Cell Phone, highlighted at Think Geek for around $150, and have it start belting out your favorite lounge hits.

The Mini Boombox GSM Cell Phone has 256MB of built-in memory, which can be expanded to 4GB via MicroSD memory. It sports a slide out keypad design so you can hide the numbers when your phone is acting as the center of the party. If you actually want to use it has a mobile calling device you’ll find it to be an unlocked, quad-band cell which works domestically with SIM cards from either T-Mobile or AT&T/Cingular.

Stealth aircraft mouse with LED lights

Posted in Mouse by Conner Flynn on November 5th, 2007

Stealth aircraft mouse with LED lightsBogie spotted at 6 O’Clock. Target locked. You aren’t likely to see another mouse this cool. It’s modeled to look like some sort of Stealth Fighter and it even sports colored LED lights. It only has an 800dpi optical sensor, but it makes up for that in style. I question the comfort factor, but it’s a nice piece of eye candy regardless. It comes in a white version as well, but black makes it look all stealthy.

So put some aviation action on your desktop. Make plane noises as you surf. Be the Top Gun of your computer. No info seems to be available regarding price, but if I were you I would make like Area 51 and hide one away for Christmas. If anyone asks, deny everything!

SanDisk Cruzer Contour USB Flash DriveSanDisk has launched a new USB Flash memory drive touting it as a combination of improved performance and style, which I have to say is a nice change. The SanDisk Cruzer Contour has a nice, sleek, glossy black finish with no cap to lose. The USB connector hides itself underneath the frame and slides out when needed, …

Annoy-a-Tron Beeping If you’re into electronic gadgets, practical jokes and for some reason still don’t think you’re already annoying enough, getting this Annoy-A-Tron would probably put you over the top.

My boss had something in his office that would periodically emit a tiny beep and it drove him crazy for weeks trying to figure out what it was. I’m not sure what the source ended up being, but it was proof enough for me that this gadget would do the trick.

The Annoy-A-Tron runs on a small watch battery, is slightly larger than a quarter and emits a …
