Black Xbox 360Rumors have been flying again about a new Xbox 360 from Microsoft, with some added information this time.

Engadget recently reported on some of the latest rumors regarding the Xbox 360 citing information from GamersReports. Supposedly someone has some “inside info” from Microsoft in Australia about a new Xbox that will be debuting down under donning a new black look that houses a 120GB hard drive.

HDCP

HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) is a form of DRM which was originally developed by Intel to protect digital content it is transmitted through DVI and HDMI connections.

HDCP devices are required to downgrade high-definition video feeds to DVD quality if output devices do not support HDCP. In this way high-definition content is protected from piracy, but is still allowed to play, just at a lower quality.

Many new computer monitors and video cards are HDCP compliant. Most HD DVD and Blu-ray devices will only output high-resolution video using HDCP.

DVI (Digital Visual Interface) is standard connector type for computer video. Most modern graphics cards use DVI output and most LCD monitor and projectors now use a DVI input.

DVI has replaced VGA as the standard of choice. VGA was designed for CRT monitors. DVI is designed for maximum performance of digital video.

DVI is partially compatible with HDMI.

OQO Model 02Bill Gates showcased OQO’s newest UMPC, the model 02, during his keynote address at CES 2007 in Las Vegas. The model 02 is a fully-featured, pocket-sized PC that is capable of supporting Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system.
