BenQ MK2442 23.6″ LCD TVBenQ has announced their upcoming 23.6-inch LCD TV that doubles as a standard PC monitor. This one would make a great secondary monitor. It features Senseye Human Vision Technology which enhances the color, clarity and contrast of video content. The MK2442 has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, with a 5ms response time, brightness of 300 cd/2, 1000:1 contrast ratio and a built-in TV tuner.

It also sports two 5W speakers for decent sound. On the connectivity side, you get: D-Sub, S-Video, SCART, Composite, Component and HDMI 1.3.

Onkyo Releases new Blu-ray Player in the USHere’s some good news for those of us living in the States. Onkyo has finally launched its latest Blu-ray player in the US market. This one is the DV-BD507 and it supports Deep Color and x.v. color specifications of HDMI 1.3a and can play AVCHD video files stored on SD/SDHC card or DVD-R/RW dics.

The DV-BD507 also features BD-Live Profile 2.0 for various online interactive content. If this one is up your alley, the Onkyo DV-BD507 will cost you $449.

Panasonic intros new line-up of 2TB Blu-ray DVRsPanasonic has announced a new series of DVRs that will be available in September. Six models in all, these new DVRs feature a Blu-ray recorder, a VHS player (for the DMR-BR670V) and your choice of 320GB / 500GB / 1TB / 2TB of HDD.

They come equipped with the latest UniPhier system LSI that integrates new AV data compression/decompression technology. The high-end model, the DMR-BW970 should be able to record up to 320hrs of video in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 @ 12.9Mbps and supports Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, DTS-HD, can record on BD-RE / BD-R / DVD-RAM / DVD-R / DVD R DL / DVD-RW, and there’s also HDMI output, an SDHC card slot, the VIERA Link, and is DLNA.

This latest unit adds H.264 decoding to the already present DivX, Xvid and MPEG-4 and outputs to full 1080p. It features HDMI and a bunch of supported media formats. It gives you a lot of options.

This new device accepts 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives as well as USB flash memory, SD, MMC, and MS cards. There’s much to like. Until you get to the price, which is $199. There are nicer looking alternatives available for about half that.

Some other specs include a brightness of 300, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time, HDMI / VGA inputs, a headphone jack and VESA mount support. It will distract you from preparing and eating meals this September for a price of $349.99. I wonder if it cleans up easy.

Some other specs include 1,800 lumens of brightness, a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, two HDMI ports, composite / S-Video / component inputs, RS-232c control connector and a 12v trigger. Lamp life is rated at 3,000 hours and Vivitek has designed the cabinet for easy bulb access, if you need to replace burned out lamps.

ASUS announces T1 Series TV MonitorsASUS has announced a new range of TV monitors, the T1 series. Available in 21.5-inch, 23.6-inch and 27-inch versions, the T1s offer a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 5ms response time, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 20,000:1 contrast ratio and a built-in TV tuner for both digital and analog signals.

The T1 series also features 7W speakers and multiple connectors including two HDMI, two SCART, a D-Sub, Composite, Component, S-Video, an audio-in, a S/PDIF out, an audio out and an earphone out. The T1 monitors should be launched soon.

Sanyo Repoch DVRSanyo has introduced its latest DVR dubbed the Repoch. The device will comply with the iVR (Information Versatile Disk) standard shared with Hitachi. The Repoch will ship with an integrated tuner for receiving digital terrestrial TV broadcasts, allowing you to view recordings on analog broadcast-compatible TVs.

Connectivity options include an Ethernet connection, HDMI output, component audio and video inputs and a couple of two antenna posts. For $668, the Repoch will come bundled with a 160GB iVR disk when it rolls out in Japan this September 1st.
