The latest in speedy portable external storage devices is from Kingston, who has married an SSD with a superfast USB 3.0 connection, creating the HyperX Max 3.0 drive. This drive is capable of churning out 195MB/s and 160MB/s read and write speeds all while maintaining the form factor of a conventional 2.5-inch hard drive.

No info on pricing and availability information just yet, but these should be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB versions.

Canadian thieves steal $1 million in Sony PlayStation items

Workers at a shipping facility in Brampton, Ontario discovered on Monday that a trailer containing $500,000 worth of Sony goods was stolen. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the very next day a second trailer went missing containing even more PS3 and PSP games and hardware.

The trailers appeared to have been stolen while they were parked and the driver was away. One had a Nebraska license plate, the other was from Ontario. If you see either-who are we kidding? You will be too busy playing Black Ops to care.

Jolicloud netbook may launch in the UK on Friday

We know that Jolicloud will be introducing its own netbook, the Jolibook, soon, and word is that those in the UK will be getting theirs this Friday, with a launch in other countries after that. Don’t expect the Jolibook to wow you with awesome specs, though.

There’s an Intel Atom N550 1.5GHz dual core processor, a 250GB hard drive and the Jolicloud Linux-based operating system, specially optimized to run on netbooks. The Jolibook may make a name for itself in educational institutions in the UK since Jolicloud is currently talking to education suppliers over there.

System76 Starling netbook goes dual core

System76′s Starling netbook has received a spec upgrade. It will no longer have a single core processor, but will have its processing doubled. For $385 you get a 10-inch display, Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook edition, a 3-cell battery and an Intel Atom N550 1.5GHz dual-core processor.

This Starling netbook doesn’t have Microsoft’s hardware restrictions for Windows 7 Starter, so you can go for some interesting upgrade options like having up to 500GB of hard drive space or get a solid state disk instead. 2GB RAM is standard and doubling the cells in the battery will add another $59 to the final price making the base price $444.

Lenovo IdeaPad U260 coming November 15th

Lenovo has finally made the IdeaPad U260 official by announcing that the laptop will arrive this Monday, November 15th, in the U.S. The ultra-portable notebook will go on sale through Lenovo.com at a starting price of $895 and it comes in a two new colors, mocha and clementine orange.

The ultra-portable laptop is touted as the company’s “first single piece design made of magnesium-aluminum alloy materials.” It also features Dolby audio, ambient light sensors, a Lenovo Enhanced Experience Windows 7, HDMI, and Lenovo Active Protection System for hard drive shock protection.

Onkyo DE715 All-In-One Desktop with built-in iPod/iPhone Dock

Onkyo’s latest all-in-one desktop PC for the Japanese market comes with something extra, a built-in iPod/iPhone dock. This model is called the DE715 and features a 23-inch 1920 x 1080 display, along with a 3.06GHz Intel Core i3-540 processor.

Some other features include a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics card, 4GB RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, a Blu-ray drive, multi-format card reader, a TV tuner, WiFi, an HDMI port and Windows 7 Home Premium runs the show.

FIC Tycoon TVB00 Windows 7 Tablet

First International Computer (FIC) has unveiled its Tycoon TVB00 tablet PC powered by Windows 7 Home Premium. The device will be released in Taiwan and through ODM in other markets.

The company spent a lot of time modifying the OS since Windows 7 was designed mainly to be used with a mouse and keyboard. Some specifications of the Tycoon TVB00 tablet include a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display, 2GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive.

Sony launches new VAIO Y notebook in Japan

Sony has decided to change the display size of its VAIO Y notebooks over in Japan. And they aren’t making them bigger. The company’s new VPCYA19FJ/B model sports an 11.6-inch display instead of the original 13.3-incher, though it still offers 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.

The downsized notebook will hit Japan on November 27th for an unknown price. Some specs include: A 1.33GHz Intel Core i3-380UM processor, 320GB hard drive, 2GB to 8GB of memory, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Gigabit Ethernet and an HDMI port.

LaCie USB 3.0 driver for Macs

LaCie has released a new Mac USB 3.0 driver. No Mac ships with a USB 3.0-ready port by default, so the driver can only support accessories on a Mac Pro equipped a LaCie PCI Express adapter, or a MacBook Pro with the company’s ExpressCard/34 adapter. Either way, Mac OS X 10.5 is required.

The company is claiming that it delivers speeds of up to 130MBps for single hard drives, and 220MBps for dual hard drives. Several models are compatible, including the Minimus, as well as USB 3.0 versions of the 2big, d2, Rugged and Rikiki.

The Archos 70 Android tablet is now finally available for purchase on Archos’ official website. The tablet device sells for $274.99 (w/ 8GB of flash storage) or $349.99 (w/ 250GB hard drive).

The Archos 70 features a 7-inch 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen display, a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, a microSD card slot, a front VGA camera, a G-sensor, 720p HD video playback support, WiFi, Bluetooth, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, a built-in stand and the Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS is running the show.

Yamaha Blu-ray player with Netflix, YouTube streaming

Yamaha has introduced the BD-A1000, a “universal Blu-ray player” with streaming capabilities. This model allows you to play Blu-ray discs, DVDs, SACDs, DVD Audio discs and web-based media like Netflix, YouTube and Blockbuster. What else do you need?

It’s dual USB ports can also be used to attach an external hard drive or thumb drive. Full HD Audio decoding is supported, with four two-channel DACs that split the signal into a 7.1-channel analog output. The BD-A1000 is now available now and will cost you $700.

Century’s latest external HDD case comes in the form of the CWRS2LCD-BK. It’s an external hot-swappable hard drive enclosure with cooling fans, heat sensors and an LCD display that shows the information right on the front of the case. What more do you need?

It measures 149mm x 185mm x 42mm and weighs 700 grams. This enclosure allows for hot-swapping hard drives just by opening the front panel. The Century CWRS2LCD-BK will arrive in early November.

Walmart is now selling the HP Garden Dreams Pavilion dv5-2129wm Special Edition Laptop. This 14.5-inch laptop sports a spring look thanks to its floral design, despite winter coming soon. This is a Walmart exclusive, powered by an AMD Turion II P540 processor and the ATI Radeon HD 4250 integrated graphics chipset, 4GB RAM, a 500GB hard drive, a DVD burner, and Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.

Some other specs include Wi-Fi N, 3 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI output and a 5-in-1 media card reader. It will cost you $598.
