Lenovo contributed a number of new notebook computers today to the onslaught on laptops using the latest Intel Centrino 2 processor technology. The announcement brings two new notebook form factors – the 13-inch widescreen IdeaPad U330 and the 14-inch widescreen IdeaPad Y430 – to the IdeaPad line. Additionally, the new IdeaPad Y530 and Y730 notebooks make their debuts.

Key features of these new laptops, besides the new Intel processor, include more body color choices, HDMI output and optional Blu-ray DVD support. All will be available this fall for varying prices, depending upon the configuration. You can read more in detail after the jump about these four Lenovo laptops.

Dell, thinking perhaps people have enough interest in its computers to want to accessorize them, teamed up last week with a number of accessories manufacturers to debut its Designed for Dell line up. Seven manufacturers are currently designing Dell products in this new category.

Dell specifically has enlisted the help of Belkin, Built, Creative Labs, Iomega, Logitech, Swiss Gear and Targus. Products being developed include backpacks, messenger cases, computer sleeves, cargo bags, portfolios, headphones, speakers, portable hard drives and mice.

Master modder TiTON’s latest Team Fortress mod recreates a TF2 sentry. Less deadly, but very impressive. It might even be too pretty to use. This life size Valve-inspired mod is simply awesome. This one is impressive enough, but he plans on building a teleporter pad to accompany the set, and also a Windows Vista Sideshow-enabled touchscreen attachment disguised as a Sapper.

Kevin Core’s awesome Batmobile Case Mod that’s famous around the internet is now up for auction over at eBay. It’s a 1/6 scale Batmobile Tumbler with a desktop PC built inside.

The one of a kind case mod was even featured in Maximum PC magazine in January 2008 and features LED lighting, 7 hard drive activity leds, 3 of which are in the jet exhaust, 1 on each side and 2 in the front. Also has 10 white led headlights, stealth power switch and DVD eject buttons. It’s currently bid up to $227.50, which is a bargain for any Batman-crazy fan. It might even be cooler then the ’66 Lego Batmobile.

Microsoft has now confirmed a couple of rumors we had heard last week about a new 60GB Xbox 360 and a price cut for the 20GB model. Today the company made an official announcement of the release of a new Xbox 360 with a 60GB hard drive coming in early August to take advantage of the increasing number and size of games, video and music for the game console.

In the same announcement Microsoft announced that the 20GB Xbox 360 model is on its way out with a price drop to $299 while supplies last, which is $50 less than before. The Arcade version and the Elite will remain at $279 and $449 respectively.

Belkin’s got itself a new 802.11 wireless router in the line up as of yesterday with the ability to support attached storage. It is called the Belkin N+ Wireless Router (F5D8235-4) and you’ll find it pricing around $120.

The Belkin N+ Wireless Router (F5D8235-4), released in conjunction with the N+ Wireless USB Adapter (F5D8055) for wireless network expansion, allows you to connect via USB a storage device such as an external hard drive to provide a network storage solution.

Other World Computing is out today with an expanded line up of external FireWire-based hard drives it believes are “value done right.” This line of Neptune drives ranges in size from 80GB to 1TB, with pricing ranging from around $85 to $230.

The Nepture hard drives from OWC  feature two six-pin FireWire 400 ports for connectivity to Macs or PCs. Key hardware specifications include a 7200RPM drive mechanism, up to 32MB data buffer and data transfer rates of up to 400Mbps.

One thing we always want more of for our computer is storage capacity. Hitachi was first out of the gate with its 1TB HDD back in January of 2007 and Hitachi recently announced its second generation 1TB drive with some significant power savings.

Seagate wasn’t going to be beat to market with a hard drive of over 1TB, like it was beat to market with the original 1TB drives. Today Seagate announced the world’s first 1.5TB desktop hard drive called the Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB.

The SATA HDD Dock was certainly a hit when first launched and Brando has been capitalizing on it ever since. Last we had heard they added some USB ports and card readers to the dock to give it some additional usefulness and today the SATA HDD Dock has become the SATA HDD Multimedia Dock.

The old Stage Rack still has the ability to dock your drives in a raw sort of way, but can now connect to your TV through S-Video and composite jacks, allowing you to stream out video and pictures from your drive (or a multimedia card or USB drive) without the need of a computer in between. It even comes with it’s own remote control.

If you were excited when Hitachi came out with the first 1TB internal hard drive early last year then be prepared to be just slightly more excited. Hitachi today introduced that same 1TB Deskstar drive but now using 43% less power consumption, naming it the Deskstar 7K1000.B.

The “.B” means that you can buy this whopping internal hard drive with less concern that it’s going to sit there and suck loads more power than your old 80GB drive, which it will, but not as much as it used to according to Hitachi. The drive is actually available in sizes from 160GB up to the largest 1TB capacity.

The rumors are flying today about changes to the availability of hardware configurations for the Xbox 360. These rumors are due to a “leaked” company memo sent out to a few retailers making some statements and implications of changes to come.

For starters, we’ve seen fairly impressive evidence that the Xbox 360 Pro will see a price drop to $299 starting this Sunday. In addition, an email spells out some plans for later this year starting with an 60GB Xbox 360 Pro game console being introduced yet this month, and later on implying that the 20GB console will reach its “end of life” yet this year, likely replaced by this 60GB to accommodate more and bigger Xbox Live games.

Think about your home entertainment library for a moment. How many GBs of storage do you need for all of your digital media? Don’t have enough and need a few TB for your content? Intest seems to have a new 15 Terabyte NAS solution, called the Intest TeraRAID XV-NAS.

The Intest TeraRAID XV-NAS, priced at around $15,000 for the 15TB solution or $11,000 for 7TB, exists to host every illegally copied or downloaded movie and song track you’ve ever added to your collection. This monster of a NAS device includes 15 hot swappable bays in a RAID 6 configuration. The server is pre-loaded with Seagate hard drives designed for multi-streaming video applications.

Worldwide computer manufacturer ASUS was showcasing last week a new laptop which more on the rugged side in terms of durability. It is known as the ASUS B51 and no pricing or availability information is known of as yet.

The ASUS B51 sports a lightweight magnesium alloy chassis which is buffered by rubber bumpers along its edges. The B51′s hard drive is “floated on a sponge protection system.”

SentrySafe, which is noted for its fire resistant external hard drives, is back in the news with a new 250GB model made in the same vein. The new SentrySafe QA0005 is priced at around $400.

The SentrySafe QA0005, like its predecessors, is designed to withstand select environmental conditions to protect your digital data. It is designed to be waterproof, even when submerged for up to a day, as well as fire resistant up to half-an-hour in 1550-degree temperatures. If it gets that hot, however, we doubt you’ll be donning your fire suit to retrieve it.

Newer Technology, which recently released a more eco-friendly version of its Guardian MAXimus external storage solution, is back again with with a new Guardian MAXimus which revs up to 10,000RPM for faster data transfer rates. It is called the Guardian MAXimus 300GB 10,000RPM and you’ll find it pricing around $900.

The Guardian MAXimus 300GB 10,000RPM offers data transfer rates up to 100MB/sec, depending upon whether you are using the FireWire 800, FireWire 400 or USB 2.0 interface. It sports two 300GB Western Digital VelociRaptor hard drives in a RAID-1 mirror configuration.
