Toshiba color-changing notebook uses nano-technology

Posted in Toshiba by Conner Flynn on January 28th, 2011

Toshiba wants their notebooks to be pretty. Most of them aren’t, but the Dynabook Qosmio T750 aims to fix that. It’s the first color-changing notebook. You won’t be able to control the color changing like you change your wallpaper, but it is cool that it uses nano-technology, allowing it to change from green to blue to purple.

The metallic effect was achieved without using any metal, so it’s a bonus for the environment. Other features include a 2.66GHz Intel Core i5-480M processor, 4GB of RAM, a 750GB hard drive, and a 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 pixel resolution display.

Folding Laptop concept with full-sized keyboard

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on March 30th, 2010

Here’s an interesting concept for you if you really love a full-sized keyboard when using a netbook. It comes from designer Yang Yongchang and offers a sturdy yet small design.

It could do with a large touchpad, but it’s still a very cool idea. Hopefully it won’t turn into an Autobot or Decepticon and kick your butt. If you combine this design with an extra pull-out display, you might just have a winner.

Laptop Steering Wheel Table

Posted in Automotive by Conner Flynn on September 1st, 2009

Laptop Steering Wheel Table is a bad ideaUsing your laptop while driving a car is pretty difficult and not very safe for you or your victims. Now this Laptop table for your steering wheel is obviously not meant to be used while driving, but there are always a few idiots out there who will do it. As for those morons, we can only hope that they crash into a tree as they twitter about typing while behind the wheel.

Idiots aside, this is actually great for the traveling businessperson who always has to stay connected. It’s also handy for parking your food and eating in the car. Hell, if you had to you could probably change a kids diaper on this thing instead of driving to a restaurant rest room. So for $23 it’s pretty useful as long as you aren’t an idiot.

Ctrl-Alt-Del pillows for a style rebootThe Mac fanboys have their Mac-O-Lantern pillows. Your laptop has the Log pillow. These pillows can be just for you.

They’ll give you a style reboot just by being there. But be careful. Leaning on all three at once will warp time and space, changing the reality around you. Might be a good idea to have a task manager blanket handy.

OCZ Throttle 32GB flash drive review

Posted in Review by Shane McGlaun on March 27th, 2009

oczthrottle-1Back in the early days of the computer if you needed to carry data files with you from one machine to the other you used floppy discs. The floppy gave way to the CD and DVD as a method for moving files form one computer to another and taking data with you on the road. As those methods became a paid for computer users, a new type of storage device emerged — the flash drive.

Today flash drives can be used for all sorts of things form backing up data from your computer to carrying files with you from desk to desk or office to office. The flash drive is growing in capacity, but with the majority of flash drives using USB they aren’t growing in performance much.

It starts at $899 and can cost up to $1,499 depending on what you want. You can choose from a color palette of five hues. Me? I’ll pass. Strikes me as kinda girlly and clutch purse like. It also sports an instant-boot OS that gives you access to the Internet and your pictures, music and other stuff.
