Blackberry Curve and Javelin get integrated Bluetooth headset

Posted in Mobile Accessories by Shane McGlaun on July 23rd, 2009

mogotalk-javelincurve-sbIn many states a Bluetooth headset or hands free kit are a requirement when using your phone and driving. In other areas headsets are merely a safer and more convenient way to talk while driving. The problem is that often we don’t have our Bluetooth headsets on us when we need them.

A new Blackberry Curve and Javelin specific Bluetooth headset is now available from Mogo Talk. The headset piggybacks on the Blackberry devices and charges there as well. A new back cover has the 5mm thick headset and charger integrated into the phone.

Motorola bluetooth box has three days of talk time

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on July 19th, 2009

Motorola bluetooth box has three days of talk timeAre you a talker? I mean a serious talker? Well feel free to talk away with the Motorola T215 Bluetooth car speakerphone, which boasts three days of talktime and was specially designed to work with other hands-free car kits.

It includes a 2W speaker with noise cancellation functionality. That should give you something to talk about. It’s a nice piece of tech, it’s just a shame that the design is so boring. Who knows, maybe the 1990′s styling will be hip again one day soon, but we doubt it.

ProClip for iPhone Review

Posted in Review by Shane McGlaun on July 17th, 2009

proclip-sb2I have mentioned before that I have a big problem with my new car not having space for me to put my iPhone down while I am driving. The car has only two cup holders and if I am using both of them there is nothing to do but leave the phone in my pocket. With a five-speed car, it’s very hard to take the phone from a pocket and answer it when driving or to see who is calling before I answer with my Bluetooth headset. Today I am going to look at a new device form ProClip USA that is a vehicle specific cell phone holder for specific phones. I will be looking at the ProClip vehicle mount for the Ford Mustang and the device holder for the iPhone. Read on for all the details.

Jupiter Jack turns car stereo into hands free kit

Posted in Accessories by Shane McGlaun on July 17th, 2009

jupiterjackI have never purchased anything off a TV commercial like the ones the spokes people always tell you to call now for. Most of the stuff they peddle looks like junk to me. The company behind some of those oddball products — Telebrands — has announced a new gadget that works with mobile phones.

The device is called the Jupiter Jack and plugs into the headphone port of mobile phones. The idea is that the device will send the audio from your calls over the cars speaker system so you can hear while driving without having to hold the phone.

Plate, spoon and glass in one hand

Posted in Kitchen by Conner Flynn on July 5th, 2009

Plate, spoon and glass in one handDinner parties are great and all, but you don’t often have a hand free if you’re drinking and devouring some hors d’oeuvres and appetizers. That’s where Mantara comes in. It’s a great solution for keeping one of your hands free.

It has a groove to hold your wine glass, a place to secure the spoon/fork and the dish holds the appropriate proportion of food. Keep it all in one hand so you have one free to point and laugh at those who do not have a hand free. It’s like the Go plate, but for snooty types.

Posted in Digital Photo Frames by Conner Flynn on June 23rd, 2009

Kogan's digiframe reads Twitter, browses FacebookRight up there with printers, digital picture frames are fairly boring. So companies keep throwing more features at us so that we may decide to buy one. That’s why Kogan’s 8-inch WiFi LCD digiframe features a bunch of tricks we’ve seen before, along with a few that are new.

It will accept photos via email, RSS feeds, Flickr, and Facebook. Email pics to a central address and see them displayed on a group of these things. With the free SeeFrame app for iPhone you can even send images directly from your handset. You can view your Twitter feed as well.

BlueAnt S1 Sun Visor Bluetooth Car Kit Review

Posted in Review by Shane McGlaun on June 19th, 2009

blueants1-sb1I am not a big fan of Bluetooth headsets. I don’t really care for the way they look in your ear and I don’t like how they feel. Recently I bought a car with a convertible top and a manual transmission and I decided it was time for a hands free device. It’s nearly impossible to drive a 5-speed in traffic and talk on the phone without a hands free device. Today I am going to look at the BlueAnt S1 Sun visor Bluetooth car kit. Read on for all the details on the BlueAnt S1.

Pioneer unveils slick in-dash GPS head unit

Posted in Pioneer Electronics by Shane McGlaun on June 15th, 2009

pioneeravic_z110bt-sbPioneer has made some of the coolest car and home stereos around for a long time. When I was a kid, my day bought a new Pioneer stereo that cost him $500, which was big money back in the day. I promptly broke the turntable trying to scratch and spent a week or so being grounded. Ah, the good old days.

Pioneer is a bigger name in home theater and in-car electronics than home stereos today. The company has announced a slick new double DIN head unit that is the top-of-the-line the company offers. The Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT has a 7-inch motorized touchscreen that covers up the CD/DVD player and radio.

Port-a-poo makes your dog carry its own pooWhen you think about, dogs must really think we are chumps. And we are. We gladly pick up the poo, bag it and carry it all the way home. How did they get us to do that? The how is not important. What’s important is that it ends now.

Let your dog carry it’s own poop with the Port-a-poo Hands Free Waste Carrier. “Port a poo Takes Your Dogs Poop Out of Your Hands”. The Port-a-poo attaches to almost any leash and after you pick up your dog’s waste in a bag, just clip it on.

medgekindledx-sbThe Amazon Kindle is a cool gadget and has been one of the most popular devices on Amazon since it launched. Not too long ago Amazon unveiled a new larger screen Kindle designed with reading newspapers in mind called the Kindle DX.

The Kindle DX lacked any sort of protective cover for the large screen, which meant that if users weren’t careful they could scratch the expensive gadget. A company called M-Edge has announced a new line of cases for the Kindle DX that includes the Executive Jacket and the Platform Jacket.

blueants1-sbI recently bought a new car that is a convertible with a manual transmission. The problem is that I get too many phone calls and it is impossible to answer the phone and drive a manual transmission car in traffic and there is too much wind noise for speaker phone use.

BlueAnt has announced a new hands free kit called the S1 that might be perfect for my needs. The device clips to the visor of the car and can connect to two phones at the same time. Either phone that rings will be transferred to the S1. The phone can be paired with eight different phones.
