Even though it isn’t a good idea to use your smartphone while driving, we sure come up with many ways to do just that. The key is to make it convenient and safe and practical to do so. It’s also compatible with all current generation PDAs or iPhones. The GoSmart clip sells for $39.95 at Amazon and appears to be well worth it if it makes you safer.

Oxygen Audio Car Stereo with iPhone interface

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on November 18th, 2010

French electronics manufacturer Oxygen Audio will introduce an audio system at CES 2011 that uses an iPhone as the head unit interface. The O’Car audio system allows your iPhone to dock right to the front of the audio deck. A cantilever swivels the phone horizontally or vertically, and angles it in any direction.

You’ll be able to use your favorite apps for traffic information and navigation or whatever new technology comes to the market–as long as it goes to your phone. A downloadable app controls the entertainment system, which offers AM/FM/RDS radio, 4 by 55 watt amp and subwoofer control, and also provides seamless app multitasking.

You might think that this clip on Bluetooth GPS Rearview Mirror might be a little dangerous, but when you think about it, it might be good to have a GPS navigation unit where you should be looking anyway. Of course the multi-tasking as you chat on your hands-free, while your GPS chats back might not be so great for your attention.

The device costs $104.13/£64.36. Just snap this thing in place and it replaces your normal rearview mirror with an all-in-one Bluetooth Rearview Mirror that has hands-free cell phone calling, built-in GPS navigation, and multimedia.

Virtual Walkie Talkie turns your Android phone into a CB radio

Posted in Android by Conner Flynn on October 31st, 2010

Virtual Walkie Talkie is a free Android program which basically turns your phone into a CB radio. The software works over WiFi and features multiple channels. It will stay on in the background until you deliberately exit the program.

So if you miss the days of CB radios and need to go all “breaker, breaker, good buddy”, now is your chance. Just be prepared for Koreans, Germans and other nationalities to all be chatting away, which you wouldn’t have found on the old Citizens Band radios. Sounds like fun though. Maybe this will make CB talk popular again. Probably not though.

It will cost you $49.99 and you can pre-order it now with free shipping. It’s a small price to pay to protect an expensive instrument.

Nokia lauches C5-03 Touchscreen Phone

Posted in Nokia by Conner Flynn on October 14th, 2010

Nokia just launched their latest inexpensive touchscreen smartphone, the C5-03. This budget phone is powered by Symbian^1. And even though it is a budget phone, it features a compass and A-GPS feature that can be used with the latest version of the free Ovi Maps hands-free navigation service.

The resistive touchscreen instead of a multi-touch capacitive display is lame, but the features aren’t too bad though. You get a 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, Compass, Ovi Maps, 40MB of user memory, microSD card support up to 16GB, 11.5-hour talktime on GSM, 4.5-hours on 3G, 24-25 day standby time, Symbian^1, and a 5-megapixel camera.
