iLive Clock Radio iPhone dock

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on June 13th, 2011

Here is an iPhone dock that cleverly uses the iPhone’s display. The iLive Clock Radio Dock has a clock face with no 12, but when you dock your iPhone it becomes a whole clock, with all of the numbers and clock hands.

It will charge your iPhone and act as a clock at the same time. Only problem is that when your phone is not docked, it is a useless clock missing the 12. Still, it’s pretty cool for $49.99. What do you think?

Samsung Jet with 800 MHz processor

Samsung Jet with 800 MHz processorThe Samsung Jet is a speed demon. It’s the Road Runner of cellphones. All others are just Wile E. Coyote. It clocks 800MHz and occasionally utters a beep beep as it passes other handsets in the market that have only just made it past the 500MHz mark.

Looks like cellphone processors are catching up with netbooks when it comes to MHz count. The Samsung Jet also features a Samsung six-sided Cube interface and a WebKit browser, dubbed Dolfin. No word on when it will hit the US, but chances are that AT&T will be the carrier.

Motorola W7 Active EditionMotorola’s latest handset comes in the form of the W7 Active Edition slider, featuring a built-in pedometer and personal trainer application. They don’t call it the active edition for nothing. The Motorola W7 uses simple hand gestures, taps and flicks to perform various functions.

Flip the handset over to silence the ringer during an incoming call, snooze the alarm clock or pause the music. Shake twice to start an application. Some other features of the Motorola W7 include a 2-megapixel camera and 3G.

Seeing Double Clock uses colors to show times

Posted in Clocks by Reuben Drake on March 2nd, 2008

Seeing Double Clock has hours and minutes in the same place, identified by colorsThis clock uses some small colored transparent windows to cancel out certain colors and show others through in order to display the time. Because of this the Seeing Double Clock is then able to display the minutes and hours in the same spot, which are only shown by the appropriate hand passing over them.

It’s kind of works the same as the old-style 3D glasses, except instead of you wearing them the hands of the clock do. If you’ve never learned to read a dial clock but want to make it look like you kinda’ can, then this is your answer. The Seeing Double Clock measures 16-inches in diameter and goes for about $50.

Turntable watch: vinyl on your wrist

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on January 21st, 2008

vinyl on your wrist
Here’s a great watch for DJ’s or record enthusiasts that want to proclaim their undying love for vinyl. Designed by FludWatches, the TableTurns watch sports a face that looks like a miniature Technics 1200 turntable. The visual details are all there in retro glory, but it won’t play tiny records, much to my sadness.

The clock hands rotate, so in a way it may look as if the record is spinning…very slowly. Each watch ships in it’s own miniature flight case for added coolness. The watch comes with either a black leather or stainless steel band, and is available from TurntableLab for only $59.This is definitely one of the cooler watches out there right now. If it actually played tiny records, I’d be sold, but for now I’ll stick with hoping someone comes out with an actual mini iPod watch.

LED clock design is faceless

Posted in Clocks,Concepts,LED by Reuben Drake on October 15th, 2007

vice versa LED clock design concept has only hands to show the timeThis LED clock design entitled ‘vice versa’ by Yiran Qian incorporates LED’s to show the time but consists of the hands only. As the hands of the clock rotate around the appropriate number(s) in which the individual hands would be pointing at are displayed. Although this meets the requirements of the brightLED design competition it’s in, it still won’t help those who can only read digital clocks.
