You Rock guitar to debut at E3 in June

Posted in Controllers,Games by Shane McGlaun on May 7th, 2009

yourockguitar-sbBack in 2007, I went to E3 for the first time. 2007 happened to be the first year of the much smaller E3 show and it sucked so badly I never went back. E3 is going back to the massive show that gamers loved for so many years for 2009 and new games and products galore should be unveiled at the show.

One of the products debuting at E3 will be the You Rock Guitar. Right now, all we have are a few details, exactly what the guitar looks like won’t be known until E3 kicks off and the product is unveiled. What we do know is that the guitar will work for all major consoles and can connect to a PC as well.

Kitty rocks Guitar Hero

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on April 28th, 2009

First off this guy looks a lot like Jack Osbourne. Secondly, this adorable kitty either really loves or really hates Guitar Hero. You’ll die of cuteness overload as he climbs up on this guy’s shoulder and steals the limelight. It’s unclear if he wants the music to stop or if he is just trying to rock out. Either way is fine with us.

He basically puts this dude in his place and shows the world who the real front man is. I think the kitty must enjoy it because near the end the little guy gets so relaxed on the guitar he basically falls off.

Hello Kitty Guitars rock you like a pink hurricane

Posted in Hello Kitty by Conner Flynn on April 26th, 2009

Hello Kitty Guitars rock you like a pink hurricaneI’m speechless. The demon-spawn known as Hello Kitty has invaded rock. Her royal pinkness has her own deal with Fender. That means that world domination is nearly here. I think there may be one or two products left that have escaped her image.

Hello Kitty will be appearing on Stratocasters, music bags, picks, guitar straps, and the like which may be wielded by the likes of Prince or Hannah Montana. I bet that Metallica dude gets one and won’t admit it.

Speak n’ Spell Rock Band guitar

Posted in Musical Instruments by Conner Flynn on April 15th, 2009

Speak n' Spell Rock Band guitarThis guitar caught my eye right away. As far as guitar mods go, it’s pretty darn crazy. Crazier then the Atari-Hero. What kind of mind combines a Speak n’ Spell with a Rock Band guitar? This guy in the video below, that’s who.

It’s called the Speak n’ Spellbinder. The sounds from the Speak ‘n Spell are all mapped to the frets, strum button and even the whammy bar. In the video below, modder Aj Gannon never really loses his cool and starts rocking hardcore, much to our disappointment. If you can even rock out to such noise.

AK Rock Box keeps your Rock Band instruments out of the wayThink of the AK box as an Ottoman for serious gamers. Gamers who love Rock Band, whose instruments need some tidying up. So, if you are sick of tripping over your plastic instruments, this is a great solution. The AK Rock Box Gaming and Storage Ottoman with Drum Lift.

It’s a leather ottoman that opens up and has storage for two guitars, a foot pedal, microphone, and drums. It also features a drum lift to raise the drums from storage with one-hand. Since you take the game so seriously, you should take your fake instruments seriously too.

Backstage with Guitar Hero launches on PS Home

Posted in Games by Shane McGlaun on March 26th, 2009

guitarheromobile-sbI am a big fan of video games and play both console and PC games. One of the coolest games for consoles so far has been Guitar Hero. Music games are huge right now and are helping bands and record labels sell tunes at a time when record sales are dropping.

Sony’s PlayStation Home was announced a long time ago and was ultimately delayed repeatedly before it finally launched last year. Part of PS Home is different realms that are branded with different games where fans can meet up. Activision has announced that the Guitar Hero Backstage area has now opened.

Arduinocaster MIDI keytar

Posted in Musical Instruments by Conner Flynn on March 25th, 2009

Future guitarInstrument-mods are nothing new around here. We got your Steampunk, your equipment that measures how hard you rock, even a guitar that plays Atari games. All pretty cool.

But the Arduinocaster has a unique look that separates it from the pack. It’s an Arduino-based MIDI instrument that uses switches and LEDs to control the “strings,” and an opto reflective switch for strumming. Check it out in the video below.

Rock Band gets new classic rock tracks in May

Posted in Games by Shane McGlaun on March 24th, 2009

rockband2-logo-sbRock Band is one of the most popular games available on the Xbox, PS3, and Wii. The game lets average game geeks and music fans live the life of a virtual rock star and even if you don’t like playing the game, it’s great fun to watch your friends make fools of themselves trying to sing, play guitar, and drum.

Sting Scorpion PC casemod

Posted in Cases by Conner Flynn on March 15th, 2009

Sting Scorpion PC casemodThe last time we saw this much circuit board on the outside of a mod, it was my very own Atari-Hero guitar mod. So right away this caught my attention.

Modder Frenkie designed this glow-in-the-dark case mod that features strips of circuit board to give it the scorpion-inspired look. Dubbed Sting, the case features a custom cut PCB boards pattern all over the body. It looks deadly. If you’re going to build something, make it stand out and have a life of its own. Make it look like it can sting the hell out of you.

HexoLight 3000 LED lighting system for Guitar Hero Are you rocking as hard as you can? Maybe you can rock harder with your fake guitar. Zivix Headliner Guitar for Rock Band/Guitar Hero

Posted in Musical Instruments by Conner Flynn on March 8th, 2009

Zivix Headliner Guitar for Rock Band/Guitar HeroThe problem with Guitar Hero and Rock Band is that people think they can actually play guitar. By people, I mean you. The Zivix Headliner is a real guitar that works with both games using special fingertip sensors. What this means for you?

Well, if you use this you may actually learn to play the guitar for real. Seriously, it has strings and everything, because you’re a big boy now. There’s no official release date for the Headliner yet, but they hope to have the guitar on store shelves sometime later this year.

Retro NES classic controllers for the Wii

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on February 25th, 2009

Retro NES classic controllers for the WiiLooks like the Super Famicon controller for the Wii was just the first such retro controller. Codejunkies is offering this NES-type classic gamepad that has the SNES’s four buttons for $20.

What’s next? We predict a new version of the Nintendo Power Glove, maybe a Mini ROB the robot that can hold your Wiimote. Once they redo all the old Nintendo peripherals, how about an Atari joystick for the Wii?
