Microsoft has released the Express Mouse. It’s glossy white, egg-shaped and has a unique off-center USB cable to reduce resistance when the mouse is used on the right-hand side. As far as a mouse goes, they look pretty stylish.

The three-button-plus-scroll design comes in six bright colors and is one of the cheapest mice around that uses Microsoft’s blue laser to improve tracking. The Microsoft Express Mouse will be released in April 2011 for $19.99. Only gray and red versions will ship at first and should be followed by green, pink, and two shades of blue for a colorful June.

Casio has released the Green Slim, an earth-friendly projector that eliminates the need for a short life mercury lamp. That’s why it’s green. This projector is also being touted as the world’s first high brightness eco-friendly projector.

The Green Slim uses Casio’s Hybrid Light Source, which combines Laser and LED technology for amazingly high brightness and it can last up to 20,000 hours. The eco-friendly projectors can also be rotated 90 degrees for portrait display if you need it.

Built with the blue-laser diode of a dismantled Casio Green Slim projector, the $200 Spyder III is the world’s most powerful portable laser. It can make you the most powerful Jedi ever. If it doesn’t permanently blind. It will set your skin, or anything else on fire almost instantly.

Yes, this is no laser toy. This thing can kill. The diodes in Casio’s new mercury-free Green Slim projectors apparently allow for unprecedentedly powerful portable lasers, and Wicked Lasers is more than happy to use them for the 1 Watt Spyder III. The blue Spyder III laser is 2000 times brighter to the human eye, compared to their $2000 Sonar and this one is only $200.

It’s Christmas time and gamers around the world are asking Santa for new gaming gear for their computers. That means it’s a good time of year to offer limited edition items like mice and mouse pads for gamers to drool over.

SteelSeries has announced a limited edition version of the Ikari laser gaming mouse and QcK mouse pad celebrating the Sudden Attack video game. The mouse isn’t really branded with anything from the game; it simply sports a green and black camo pattern on top. The mouse has an LCD for viewing settings and can record macros. Each mouse sold has its own camo pattern.

We’ve seen some pretty cool lasers come across our desks in the past so it’s always refreshing to see a unique twist like what we have with the Photonic Disrupter. The folks at Wicked Lasers have taken an already powerful 100mW laser and modded it into non-lethal, “Threat Assessment Laser Illuminator”, (TALI for short) weapon.

The main feature that makes the Photonic Disrupter different from other 100mW lasers is its adjustable lens, allowing you to create a broad or very focused non-lethal beam of green light. The intent of the laser is for military and law enforcement use in dark or low-light situations, allowing the wielder of the light to temporarily blind and overwhelm the senses of the other person.

Remember Lightlane? Lightlane was a pretty neat concept for bicyclists. Well, it seems that the response that the concept got was so overwhelming from bicyclists the world over, that the inventors actually decided to now make it into a commercial product.

It uses “super-bright red LEDs,” as well as two high visibility Diode-Pumped Solid State green lasers to project a path that should help to protect bikers on the street. The end result is that the biker and their path are clearly visible to those driving by.

The guys over at SKYlaser gave us the opportunity recently to check out there version of a 150mW green laser pointer with a unique adjustable power feature. We’ve reviewed a number of types of lasers and laser pointers here on the ‘Brick but this is the first we’ve gotten our hands on one that has this type of adjustable power.

The nice thing about getting a powerful laser of this caliber is just that; it’s powerful. This laser has enough oomph to put a green dot on something from pretty much as far away as you can see, and that’s during the day. At night it makes a seemingly unending saber-like beam of green laser light visible for miles.

We’ve gotten our hands on some pretty cool and powerful lasers in the past, but never one of quite this magnitude. If you were wondering if there really is a difference between laser pointers, or if there is a difference between a $300 laser and a $1700 laser; well we’re here to tell you that there is.

From the time we opened the box of the Spyder II GX we could tell that this one meant business. The Spyder II is another green laser with a beam that can be seen from miles and miles away, literally. It’s powered by a special single LI-ION 18650 rechargeable battery (the device comes with 2 of them and a charger) and is housed in a military grade, water resistant case. It operates by a rubber toggle switch in the back that keeps it on until you press it again, unlike the Elite Series which requires you to hold it to keep the laser on.

Powerful laser pointers are something that many people are often curious about, however not too often does someone get a chance to handle one. The folks over at WarnLaser recently gave us at the ‘Brick a chance to try out one of their lasers to see what we thought. This is not the first time we’ve had our hands on a laser of this caliber and through this we’ve learned that all lasers are not created equal.

The sample we received is a 120mW Tiger Series GX, running on a couple of standard AAA batteries in a frame about the size of a large pen. In fact, this laser has pen-like clip and can pretty easily fit in a shirt pocket, but might be a little bit heavier than most of the items in your pocket protector at 55 grams. The Tiger Series is a nice balance between power and portability in the array of lasers from WarnLaser. It’s about in the middle of the road – you can get weaker lasers and you can get them much more powerful.

Wicked Lasers recently gave us the opportunity to check out one of their popular laser pointers, which gave us quite a surprise. Actually, before we received it we called it a laser pointer but not any more. Wicked Lasers assured us that it is not a laser pointer – it truly is a wicked laser, and we can’t disagree.

The sample product we received was from the Elite Series of green lasers, specifically the Elite 125. This laser appears to be around the middle of the road for the different lasers offered by Wicked Lasers. The average output power according to the company runs from 125mW to 149mW. They also have lasers in their catalog with as little as 50mW and as much as 300mW. The Elite 125 for us had plenty of power and made it very clear why this is not a laser pointer for regular presentations. For starters it would be difficult to see anything on a presentation screen because the light from the laser is way too bright, even from across a large room. Also, the crowd would be so distracted by what you’re using to point with they’d never pay attention to anything else you’re trying to show them.

Kensington seems to have been storing up on new product releases for notebook computers. The computer accessories maker yesterday unveiled some 24 new products across several notebook accessory related categories.

Highlights of this new product line up include a device for sharing USB devices between computers, wireless mice, notebook locks, column mount monitor arms and cases. We’ve provided more details on these new Kensington offerings via its press release after the jump.

This gamepad mouse from Evergreen might be the coolest mouse we’ve seen yet. It’s called The Genius Navigator and hidden inside, you will find a gamepad featuring six buttons, plus Turbo and Clear buttons, and a directional pad.

The 1600/800dpi USB laser mouse weighs 67 grams and is compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 2000. The Genius Navigator will cost you about about $33 USD. I suspect that both the gamepad and mouse don’t work all that well together, but like Peanut butter and chocolate, I do think it’s awesome that they put them together. I’d like to see them take it one step further and put a Nintendo DS in a mouse. That I would buy. Who am I kidding? I would buy this one, too.

Microsoft today launched the Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 and the Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. Both models feature a little bit less rounded look than other recent accessories from Microsoft and use a 30-foot, 2.4GHz wireless connection.

The rechargeable 7000 model is geared more for desktop use with a new horizontal charging cradle that makes it look somewhat like to a sleek snail when docked. It will charge up a single rechargeable AAA battery which gives it up to 3 weeks of use on a single charge. The 7000 has a responsiveness of 1,000 dots per inch and precision of 6,000 frames per second along with 4-way scrolling, Flip-3D and the single-click magnifying tool to zoom in on…well, whatever it is you want to zoom in on. A green indicator light shows the battery level for charging.

According to IceRage a mouse is hardly just a user input device for you computer, but is also a fashion statement. Because of this the company is debuting two of its new mouse models at CES – the Pocket Mouse and the Ultimate Pocket Mouse – both of which are available this month.

The pocket mouse appears to almost ignore ergonomics in favor of a fashion model-like slender design that comes in colors of blue, pink, green, silver, white and of course the oh-so-slimming black. The Pocket Mouse works well for use with a notebook on the go and comes as either a USB wired (with a retractable cord) for $60 or can be wireless via Bluetooth for another $10. It features 800 dpi tracking, a complete lack of affinity for either hand over the other and is compatible with a PC or Mac.

Golf is a game of distance and direction, so it’s no surprise that handheld GPS devices represent one of the fastest growing products in the golf business. Also helping this burgeoning market is the recent USGA and R&A rulings that sanction the use of distance measuring devices for golf. The ruling states that GPS-based systems and laser rangefinders are allowable.
