You know Garmin for all of their fancy GPS devices and watches. Well, now they have a new watch in the Garmin Forerunner 610 GPS sport watch. It features a weather-proof touchscreen and is designed for serious runners looking for an extra advantage. The Forerunner 610 is good to go in rain, safe from your sweat and any other splashes you can throw at it.

This one is responsive enough that it can be operated while wearing running gloves. It sports features like pace, distance and time meter, a heart rate monitor, and you can even race with friends in other countries.

The new Nike+ SportWatch GPS powered by TomTom is like a fitness coach. One that will track what you do, track how you do it, and then makes you do it again you filthy maggot. Double time! Okay, maybe it isn’t that motivating, but it will help.

The Nike+ SportWatch GPS combines the accuracy of GPS with the shoe-based Nike+ sensor (attached to your iPod Nano) to track time, pace, distance, calories burned, and heart rate, as you do your daily run. It will actually talk to you through your iPod Nano. The Nike Senor translates your workout data from the Sport Kit to your iPod Nano, which can then be connected to NikePlus.com.

Most people use their phones as a watch these days, but not as many use their watch as a phone. This is changing as watches can do more. The sWaP Rebel is first and foremost a watch. One that has cellphone functionality, a touchscreen color display, a built-in camera, FM radio and Bluetooth connectivity among other features.

The price isn’t too bad at £190 and you can choose from black, pink, orange, white and green colors, but it won’t replace your primary handset. It’s always nice to see watches doing more and more though.

When that TomTom Darth Vader voice pack turned up, I wasn’t excited about it. I was never a Vader fan he’s evil after all. I didn’t like Yoda much in the original films, but in the new flicks he was pretty cool.

TomTom has unveiled a video of a behind the scenes look at the recording of the Yoda voice pack for TomTom GPS units. This may well be the funniest commercial ever.

Anyway, the Samsung Wave has already hit the UK last month, but folks in the US have yet to get their hands on it. Now Amazon is offering the smartphone to US customers for $440 without a contract commitment.

If you’re looking for an affordable GPS watch to wear while jogging and such, Garmin has just announced the Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS watch. You get some decent features for the price.

The watch can be used for up to eight hours in GPS mode and three weeks in standby mode. The Forerunner 110 features Garmin’s HotFix technology to quickly acquire and hold satellite signals. You can upload your stats to Garmin Connect, and it can hold up to 200 hours of data.

Trywin of Japan has unveiled the new DTN-X750 portable navigation device which will retail for about €325 should you need to find your way around the country. It features a 5″ LCD touchscreen display at 800 x 480 resolution, 4GB of internal memory, a 1Seg TV tuner so you can watch TV shows, a 1W monoaural speaker and is compatibility with a bunch of audio and video files.

The internal memory can be expanded with a microSDHC memory card. As for battery life, you can only expect 1.5 hours so make your journey a short one.

We haven’t seen any interesting watches from Timex for awhile now, but check this guy out. It’s the company’s new GPS-on board watch. It will be arriving next month, going by the name Ironman Global Trainer. Yes it has GPS and is not fugly.

It features real-time speed, pace and distance data courtesy of the SiRFstarIII module inside, and it also boasts 50 meters of water resistance, a customizable display to showing off all of the data and it can send performance reports to your PC. It’s compatible with Timex heart rate and bike sensors and third-party power meters using ANT+ wireless technology. Did I mention that it looks nice?

Kempler & Strauss have been busy. The other day they unveiled a small and cool watchphone. Now they’ve announced the their newest Windows Mobile handset, called the touchscreen Billionair 6.

This 3G HSPA handset features a 624MHz ARM processor, GPS and WiFi, and has a micro SD slot for up to 4GB of storage, along with a 3 megapixel camera. Dubbed the B6, it runs a custom interface over Windows Mobile and even sports an accelerometer. The B6 is $260 and it’s available right now.

Researchers from the University of Southern California want to use cellphones to help the obese shed weight. The idea is to hook up obese kids to a “mobile body network,” consisting of a device to measure the skin’s electrical conductivity along with a heart-rate monitor, accelerometer, blood glucose reader and GPS for location, and connecting it with a battery sensor on the child’s body.

The system uses a Smartphone to send the collected behavioral data to the university’s computers, where it is then figures out what the information means. If your kid is laying around, text messages will be shot his way to get him to do get off his ass and do something.

So you love fishing, but the fish don’t love you. They just stay away from you like you have some kind of fish restraining order against you. Well, the Humminbird RF35 Fish Finder Watch is here to help. It’s a timepiece that also boasts GPS capability, featuring a 1.25″ display and a remote sonar sensor that is able to find fish within a 75-foot radius.

The data is transmitted to your watch in real-time, but it is only effective for depths of 120 feet, using its 90-degree sonar. When on land, the Humminbird RF35 Fish Finder Watch is just a typical watch, with a backlit display and a pulse-lit advanced sensor for night fishing.

Garmin is offering up two new watches in the Forerunner lineup. They look a tad, uh, fugly. The waterproof 310XT and the 405CX, which is the successor to the 405. Fugly they may be, but they pack in a lot of functions.

The 310XT features a tough waterproof shell rated for a depth of up to 50 meters, and 20 hours of battery life. Both the 310XT and the 405CX include GPS, wireless, data syncing and will track your burned calories. These are great watches for Athletes looking for a personal trainer on their wrist.

Kogan’s Android smartphone might be put on hold indefinitely, but that doesn’t mean the Australian company doesn’t have some other stuff in their Kangaroo pouches. Meet the Kogan GPS Watch which is touted as “the most feature packed watch on the market”. It merges Bluetooth, GPS navigation, a pedometer and altimeter timepiece among other features in a single device.

If you’re the MacGuyver type who plans on a lot of outdoor adventures, then this GPS watch is for you. It will record the exercise you are getting while plotting your route using Google Earth. Also features a built-in thermometer and speedometer, alarm, stopwatch and timer.

This one from Samsung Korea is targeting mobile Internet users. The SPH-W6450 is dubbed the ‘OZ Double Folder Phone’ since the clamshell can be folded vertically when texting or calling and horizontally when watching DMB TV or using other multimedia functions. Not because it has GPS to help you follow the yellow brick road.

The SPH-W6450 has a 2.8 inch LCD screen, 3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, and a dictionary. It’s available in Korea only for about $410.

Most camera phone users can agree that the camera is simply not good on the bulk of the devices out there. Even the class leading iPhone has a bad camera that has poor low light performance and is useless as a real camera.

Nokia has officially announced its latest camera phone at MWC 2009 called the Nokia N86 8MP. As you can gather from the name, the handset has an 8-megapixel camera that uses Carl Zeiss optics with built-in flash. Nokia says the camera performs as well as a normal digital camera.
