Pure Twilight Alarm Clock

Posted in Clocks by Conner Flynn on November 30th, 2010

The Pure Twilight Alarm Clock won’t wake you up by asking if you are team Jacob or team Edward, despite it’s name. But it is a dawn simulator lamp and digital radio in one. This alarm clock comes with several alarm settings. You can wake to a tone, a digital radio, an FM radio, or special alarm tones including “church bell” and “cockerel” or natural sounds like “wind chimes”, “dawn chorus” and “cicadas”.

They all sound annoying to me. This device also uses several bright LED lights to simulate a gentle sunrise before the alarm goes off, allowing you to slowly wake up instead of being jolted awake. It also has a PowerPort, which lets users charge their cell phones or PMPs.

Osim Nioi alarm clock wakes you with smellsWe’ve covered alarm clocks that wake you with bird songs, clocks that wake you up by cooking bacon even. Here’s one that wakes you with various smells. I know what you’re thinking, doesn’t my significant other already wake me with smells? Especially after a Mexican dinner? Not that kind.

The Osim Nioi alarm clock awakes you with gentle smells as it emits either a lavender or rose fragrance in the night to help you sleep better. It uses other smells like freshly baked bread to rouse you in the morning. Each smell comes in a smell canister. Designer Alfie Lake’s concept isn’ton store shelves, but if all goes well he’ll smell ya later. Or you him. Or you bread.

Glo Pillow wakes you up gently with light

Glo Pillow
There’s no shortage of interesting and unique alarm clocks that serve as alternatives to the usual, but this may be the most gentle way they have come up with to wake you up. It could also make you look very creepy to your partner. It was designed by Ian Walton and Eoin McNally, who wanted to create a product that could help combat the rigors of a “24 hour” lifestyle.

A grid of LEDs begins to glow about 40 minutes before it’s officially time to wake you up. That way, a slow and gentle increase in light will bring you out of sleep more naturally. It may even stop your traditional bitching and moaning against the pillow. The glo Pillow is just a prototype, but it did pick up one of Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2007 awards, so there’s hope.

Mr. Clock Radio likes you naked

mr-clock-radio.jpgWhat’s more annoying than an alarm clock? How about an alarm clock with a robot head on it? That’s right – for around $80 you can introduce Mr. Clock Radio into your life.

This creepy looking clock radio has a robotic head set atop it like some kind of statue. You can wake up to some 30 different ways, ranging from a gentle voice to a screaming maniac beside your bed. You can also get it to tell you your fortune, wink as you undress and more! It will apparently even play music from your iPod.
