Make Star Wars Pancakes

Posted in Star Wars by Conner Flynn on July 18th, 2011

Pancakes are awesome. When they are shaped like Star Wars characters they are even better. Now you can get two sets of molds, one with a bunch of vehicles, the other Star Wars heroes and villains. So now you can enjoy your pancakes on both the light and dark side of the force.

What could be better than dining on a Stormtrooper head or a Tie-Fighter? Not much, but then we are hardcore geeks. They range from $9.95 a set to $19.95. May the force be with your breakfast.

Lego Pancake Robot

Posted in Robots by Reuben Drake on June 28th, 2011

Robots making me breakfast? Sign me up for that. This Lego Pancake robot can make pancakes in a bunch of different shapes which can be pre-programmed into the robot before entering your stomach.

The Pancake Bot is a 3 axis CNC made robot that uses the Z coordinate as the Pancake Batter Dispenser Control. I can only hope that one day we will be able to buy robots like this and welcome them into our home.

Sonic the Hedgehog cake

Posted in Games by Reuben Drake on June 27th, 2011

It’s been awhile since we featured a cool geeky cake and this one qualifies. Makes me hungry just looking at it. If I could, I would run circles around this cake like Sonic himself as I gobbled up those rings, that icing and all the rest of it.

And I wouldn’t share. This would strictly be a one player game. It would be delicious. Sega-licious.

Mattel Intellivision Game Console Cake

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on February 6th, 2011

This Intellivision cake looks delicious. It looks just like the classic game console. Okay, maybe it looks like a console that has been slightly melted by intense heat, but it still looks yummy. This one comes from Debbie Goard, who makes all kinds of awesome video game cakes and other themed cakes.

This Intellivision cake is a work of art to anyone who grew up playing the actual console. I’d love to dig into it with a nice glass of milk.

The iMousePad looks like an Apple iPad

Posted in Mouse by Conner Flynn on June 18th, 2010

Mouse pads don’t have to be boring. This one takes its inspiration from the Apple iPad and is called the iMousePad. The iMousePad is designed to look like an Apple iPad. Sadly it’s just a concept created by the guys over at the DarkDesingGroup.

But if it was real, it would sell like hot cakes as every Apple fan would have to have one. Looks like it would also make a good prank since it looks like a real iPad from far away.

Samsung launches five new lenses for the Samsung NX10

Posted in Cameras by Conner Flynn on February 22nd, 2010

Remember the Samsung NX10? It’s a hybrid DSLR using a new format created by Samsung which is slightly bigger than the Micro Four Thirds format and smaller than the DSLR format. Samsung has just announced five news lenses for the NX10, which includes an 18-55mm f3.5-56 lens, a 20mm f2.8 pancake lens, a 60mm f2.7 macro lens, a 20-50mm f3.5-56 lens and an 18-200m OIS f3.5-63 lens.

The new lenses are smaller than standard DSLR lenses since the NX10 doesn’t have any mirrors inside.

Gingerbread Star Trek Enterprise

Posted in Sci-Fi by Conner Flynn on December 21st, 2009

Tis the season for all manner of geeky desserts. We’ve seen our share around here, whether they be Star Wars or Star Trek. All are delicious if not nutritious.

Here we have the Star Trek Enterprise made of gingerbread. Apparently it lacks the necessary propulsion to keep it upright and so is kept afloat by several glasses beneath. I would love to take the first bite and cause a hull breach.

Amazing Tauntaun wedding cake

Posted in Star Wars by Conner Flynn on October 25th, 2009

Amazing Tauntaun wedding cakeWe’ve seen more than our share of geekery when it comes to cakes. This one is the absolute best ever, beating even the AT-AT cake.

Just look at that detail. It’s gross and yet delicious. Look at how horrified Luke is. But at least he’s warm and alive. Just grab yourself a delicious piece of it’s entrails and eat up. Best wedding cake ever.

Steampunk Wedding Cake

Posted in Sci-Fi by Conner Flynn on October 11th, 2009

Steampunk Wedding CakeSo you’ve met a nice gal who also likes to dress up in Victorian clothes and has a love of Steampunk gadgets. You want to take the plunge and get hitched. Maybe get married in a chapel that looks like a Jules Verne submarine. What do you do for the cake?

Make it brown and put gears on it, that’s what. Lots and lots of gears. Plus some doors, rivets and panels. Make the whole thing edible. Wedding complete.

PlayStation 3 cake is not slim, tastes delicious

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on August 30th, 2009

PlayStation 3 cake is not slim, tastes deliciousForget the PS3 Slim. This is the kind of PS3 you want. The only game it plays involves you shoveling cake into your mouth as fast as you can.

The controllers are made from rice crispy treats, so forget mashing buttons, you’ll be mashing your teeth into them like a madman as you slide ever closer to a diabetic coma. And even though this confectionery console may not have a slew of worthwhile games at the moment, the ones it does have are delicious.

Commodore 64 cake

Posted in Computer Cases by Conner Flynn on August 12th, 2009

Commodore 64 cake It’s been a while since we’ve seen an awesome geek cake as retro-liscous as this one. A genuine Commodore 64 Cake. It was made in honor of some guy’s 30th birthday.

It has some super nice detail work on the frosting, like all of that keyboard lettering. Even a power cord. Though I don’t remember Pong being available for the C64. It sure looks tasty. This guys wife, who made the cake, is a real special woman and if things don’t work out for them she can make me a cake anyday.

Best Star Wars cake ever

Posted in Star Wars by Conner Flynn on May 14th, 2009

Best Star Wars cake everIt shouldn’t come as a big surprise to our readers that we love cake. After all, we brought you 20 awesome robot cakes, 25 awesome geek cakes and 25 more awesome geek cakes. This one…wait for it…really takes the cake.

Jennifer Luxmore of Sin Desserts in Providence, RI made this amazing AT-AT cake. Awesomely detailed and obviously delicious. It’s what the rebels on Hoth ate in celebration after fleeing the ice planet. I would tie string to my fork and fly my utensil around it’s legs like a snowspeeder, bringing it to it’s knees so that I may devour it.

Get your geek on with Star Trek Scene It

Posted in Games by Shane McGlaun on April 8th, 2009

startreksceneit-sbAnyone who has seen pictures of rabid Star Trek fans knows that geeks don’t get much geekier than these people do. Star wars fans can give them a run for their money, but Trek fans take the cake in my book. Hard core Star Trek fans can show off the Trek knowledge in a new board game based on the series.

The Star Trek Scene It game has been announced with two collector’s edition bundles. The game uses a DVD to play actual clips from the variety of TV shows and movies in the franchise. Players try to answer trivia questions that relate to the scenes to win the game.

20 awesome robot cakes

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on February 11th, 2009

20 awesome robot cakesWe may have a bit of a problem. See, we might like geek cakes just a little too much. It all started with our compilation of 25 awesome geek cakes back in November. We realized we had a sweet tooth for these artistic cakes. Then in December, we craved more delicious sugary cake, so we rounded up another 25. Some call us addicted, though we can quit anytime we want.

You think we like being all jittery? Getting kicked out of bakeries for asking questions while riding a sugar high? Seeing cakes around every corner? Yesterday I was caught with icing on my collar, then my wife arranged a cake intervention. I told them what I’m telling you: I’ll quit the cake when the cake quits being delicious. I can quit anytime I want. Just one more compilation, then I’m done. Done chasing the Betty Crocker dragon. So, check these out. 20 cool and clever robot cakes from our robot site Botropolis. I also included a few robot cake fails to illustrate how not to make an awesome robot cake. Hit the link for all of them.
