Obaku V140G is the world’s thinnest sports watch

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on February 20th, 2011

We’ve seen all kinds of watches here at the Brick, some packed with awesome features. But it seems like the more features you add, the more it weighs your wrist down. That isn’t fun at all. It’s nice when a watch is light and thin. The Obaku 7140G claims to be the slimmest sports watch ever. It certainly looks like that’s true.

Being slim and light is exactly what you want in a sports watch when you are running or playing in a tennis match. Ideally you want something that you don’t even know you are wearing. The design is even sleek and stylish in black.

Blu-ray recorders with integrated hard drives are no big deal, but Panasonic is offering something different in their DMR-BR30 that was announced for the Japanese market. It features a slot for swappable hard drives. The idea must be to mimic VHS cassettes. It’s not a bad idea really.

It connects via a USB connection and is only supported in this recorder. Users will be able to copy videos from Blu-ray discs or DVDs to the hard drive or vice versa. Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on December 30th, 2010

We’ve seen Microsoft’s Kinect sensor hacked to do a whole bunch of stuff, and now someone is using it to control a robot using the sensor. Let’s stop this madness now. Before you know it, we will be facing robot armies controlled from some dudes living room.

The robot is dubbed the Veltrobot, a gyro-stabilized robot with some nice limb movement. The system maps the Kinect output onto a skeletal frame, transmitting that information to the robot, which may or may not venture outside to hurt others.

Posted in Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on December 27th, 2010

Look what we have here. Sonic the Hedgehog is willing to charge up your Wiimotes while showing the peace sign. He doesn’t look very happy about it though. You can understand why. He’d rather be chasing down golden rings and promoting Sega products. But sadly, those days are gone.

Now he is reduced to sub-par games and promoting Nintendo gear, which in this case will cost you $49.99. It comes from Mad Catz. Hey, at least it acts as a figurine too.

Soundproof Keyboard Cover

If you end up working late into the night, typing away and annoying those who are near you, you might want to check out the Soundproof Keyboard Cover. Sure, it looks absurd, but we hope that the $36 investment will bring some peace to the ears around you.

It supposedly reduces the noise from typing and will also prevent dust from getting in between your keys. It’s probably not very comfortable though. Your hands will likely feel cramped. But if noise is a problem, this may be a good solution.

Kinect selling out across the country

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on November 7th, 2010

It looks like Microsoft’s Kinect is really paying off. Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop are all reporting that they are selling out of the Kinect hardware, though there are still some 360 bundles available apparently.

Many gamers aren’t drawn in by the family-friendly advertising, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at the sales. It just went on sale a few days ago. It brings back memories of Wii shortages all over again. Things are looking great right now, however look at how quickly “Wii fever” dropped. Will the same thing happen here after initial shortages? Time will tell. But for now, Microsoft is loving it.
